  1. 2 and 3 are the same play. 4 wasn't a sack. at most there were 2 sacks shown. On the second one who do you blame for the sack? Sam left the pocket because of pressure by Jordan's man but the actual sack was done by Moton's man, but it really wasn't Moton's fault.
  2. but you get multiple chances so what's better over time? an 85%chance of a good player or a 70% chance of a good player + a 35% chance of a good player and yes I made those numbers up for illustration purposes, but based on the current trade value chart the stats tend to favor trading down.
  3. That is the same thing people said about staying put and taking Brown instead of trading back and drafting someone like Wirfs. Fans always think there is some talent cliff that just so happens to be at the exact spot they are picking. BPA doesn't work for QBs or OTs (specifically ones that might can play LT), they are almost always overdrafted. There is no such thing as a sure thing in drafting, look at Matt Kalil and Greg Robinson.
  4. What do you think? Do we trust this staff to know? Little scary
  5. Honestly that might not be the option that people want the most but It might be a better option than what could happen.
  6. He isn't too obsessed if he let his HC sign Teddy, trade for Sam and then pass on several QBs in this year's draft. I don't think Tepper is going to specifically sit down with Rhule and say, "draft a guy and I'll give you two years to develop him". Rhule has to think this is a make-or-break season for him and I'm guessing the offseason moves and the draft will be influenced by that, which to be honest is scary.
  7. What is more likely for Rhule to believe for saving his job if he makes it to year 3? Draft an OL or another non-QB and build around Sam or some FA QB or draft a QB and show enough growth in year one to save his job?
  8. The totals listed at the bottom of the tweet that Zod posted at first don't add up to the totals to the players pictures, which some of the stats might be on backups. Also the quick write up by PFF after the game had us at 18 pressures, which PFF is quick to say that is a very preliminary grading. If someone had the higher level subscription to PFF we could check for sure. Also I would be curious to know how PFF and ESPN define hits, knockdowns and pressures. I'm guessing there is some difference between the two of them. I do know that PFF is fond of saying that sacks are a QB stat as much as an Oline stat and usually they attribute more to the QBs than a fan would.
  9. When it comes to drafting a team should almost think of having 3 starting tackles. They are just too hard to find in free agency and too valuable on the field. Worse case he is your swing tackle when someone gets hurts, which honestly usually happens at some point in the year.
  10. I'm just nervous that we are so use to terrible play at the LT position we might be getting excited over above average or average play. Being an improvement over what we have had in the past really isn't saying much. What is BC's ceiling at LT? maybe its just average or above average. What is his ceiling at guard? Maybe its elite. Like you said we have to trust this staff to do an honest evaluation of it before the next draft. This is part of the reason I wish he would have got more playing time throughout the year, would be easier to have an accurate evaluation of him. Don't get me wrong, I would love for him to turn into a quality LT, that would open up a lot of options for us.
  11. you shouldn't wait until you are desperate to make a "true investment"
  12. Sound logic ^ Any other positions are easier to find later in the draft or free agency. Even if you want to give out a monster contract there is no guarntee there is a quality QB or LT available most years in free agency.
  13. Agree A lot of the people that want us to go OT in the draft are the same people who want us to get rid of Sam, but I think if we go OT in the draft that means there is a good chance, they plan on going with Sam next year.
  14. Sacks are a QB stat as much as a o-line stat. PFF will often assign the sack to the QB.
  15. I do wonder though, if ultimately he would be better at guard. Our LT procuction has been so bad historically we thrilled with average or above average, but could he be elite at guard? Short term he is helping us more by improving the LT positions but if we draft a LT (especially in the 1st) would the overall line be better with him at guard?
  16. according to the quick recap that PFF does NFL Week 17 Game Recap: New Orleans Saints 18, Carolina Panthers 10 | NFL News, Rankings and Statistics | PFF He gave up the most pressures on the line. This fan base is so use to awful at the LT position they are happy with below average.
  17. I’ve never said you draft one regardless, just this idea that you build the oline first and a great QB prospect will be waiting on you in the future is dangerous. It’s a lot easier to build a decent Oline than finding an elite QB, if you like a guy you better roll the dice. I'm not sure I would roll pick #6 dice on one of these QBs, but I am it convinced trams will have late first round grades on all of them. Maybe they should
  18. And then in 2024 we can draft a QB and he will take 2 years to develop so we might be competitive by 2026
  19. The number of players started is irrelevant in regards to which position is more important. A QB is exponentially more important than any single position on the field and it’s not even close. Doesn’t matter if they have a lower chance to succeed, they aren’t even money bets.
  20. I agree that at some point we should have spent a first round pick on a olineman, namely when we had a franchise QB, Cam. Now that we don’t have a franchise QB it’s the second most important position.
  21. Same can be said about QBs, you have to spend high draft capital and donor organically. That’s the problem, we need the two hardest positions to fix. People just keep acting like it’s easy to find the QB later. How many franchise QBs in the league? How many years do some of them play? 10-15? So in the last 15 years how many truly elite QBs have there been? But you are magically going to have one waiting on you when you finally decide the rest of the team is ready.
  22. Finding the QB is the hard part. I'm not saying spending the 6th pick on a QB is definitely what I would do but this idea that any single OL spot will help the team as much as a QB is ludicrous.
  23. Then we have the same problem. We need to find a QB.
