  1. Simple question: Do you think Fitt has done a good job?
  2. This is why it’s absurd to think a fan couldn’t do as well. You could literally throw darts and do as well.
  3. There is actually a lot of logic in that. Teams have a habit, and often one that gets them in trouble, in thinking they are so right about a prospect being good or bad. Fact is there is some luck in it. Both Fields and Bryce were gamble, Bryce was alot more of a gamble. For example we could have stayed put, and took whatever QB fell to us and saved out picks. Right now, how many people would prefer to have Levis (and DJ) and our #1 pick next year instead of Young? Better chance of finding and developing a QB: Levis + Williams or Maye + Moore or Bryce Young?
  4. Recently someone asked if a fan could do as well as some of the GMs in the league so i decided to look at the last few drafts of our current staff. I left off this years draft because I try not to judge players in their first year, even though it looks bad so far. Also, if I'm wrong about a player status please let me know. 2021 Draft: Pick #8: Jaycee Horn - Hit Pick #59: Terrace Marshall - Pick #70: Brady Christensen Pick #83: Tommy Tremble - Pick #126: Chuba Hubbard - Pick #158: Daviyon Nixon - Miss (off team) Pick #166: Keith Taylor - Miss (off team) Pick #193: Deonte Brown - Miss (off team) Pick #201: Shi Smith - Miss (off team) Pick #204: Thomas Fletcher - Miss (off team) Pick #232: Phil Hoskins - Miss (off team) 2022 Draft Pick #6: Ikem Ekwonu - Hit Pick #94: Matt Corral - Miss (off team) Pick #120: Brandon Smith - Miss (off team) Pick #189: Amare Barno - Pick #199: Cade Mays - Pick #242: Kalon Barnes - Miss (off team) Of the 17 players drafted 9 aren't even on the team. Of the other 8 how many would you really consider above average? Horn and Ekwonu have shown the most promise, but they are also the two top-10 picks. This idea that some fans couldn't do as well is just ludicrous. Honestly some fans would have taken Curtain or Parsons, although some fans might have took Fields. Irony is if we would have took Fields then we wouldn't have traded for Young this year and we would still have DJ Moore and possible #1 pick next year, plus some other draft capital. Some fans also like Slater, which meant the following year you wouldny have drafted Ekwonu. With Ekwonu, a lot of fans were good with that pick. Some liked Cross, some liked Ekwonu, but either way its not like the "professionals" knew better than the fans. Honestly after those two top 10 picks you could probably go to a PFF or NFL.com big board and do about as well.
  5. Best post of the year. you have to be careful using facts around here, most of the posters don’t understand what they are looking at.
  6. But they don’t all succeed, that seem to be the part you don’t understand.
  7. But they aren’t better than 30. I’m not saying most fans would be better than the best GMs, I’m saying there are some fans that would do as well or even better than the worst GMs.
  8. Then why do some of them fail so badly then? I agree that most fans don't know as much as they think, but to think some fans wouldn't do as well as some GMs is ludicrous. If some Gm is only correct 1/8 times do you really think some fan couldn't pull that off?
  9. between the coaching staff and Gm shouldn't they have known that in a different scheme they might struggle? These are highly paid professionals who know so much more than us fans? When was Reich hired? January? He and the GM should have known what scheme they were going to run. They had a draft and entire free agency to address it.
  10. Why didn't our GM get personnel that fits better?
  11. Top-10 LT pick having to move to guard? Are we going to blame the owner’s wife for this or can we admit our front office leaves some to be desired?
  12. I’m guessing she isn’t the first wife to show up to a practice. If we were winning none of it would matter.
  13. What did she actually say? Either way, do you really believe she was the one orchestrating the entire trade? Much more likely to was a made for TV moment where she is just basically relaying what the front office was planning on saying. I know it’s easy and fashionable to blame the rich guy but if anything it’s almost masking the fact that our from office has at this point seem to have done a really poor job the last few years. Not only with the draft, but also free agency and evaluating the worth of their own players.
  14. Good thing we have Fitt and the coaches to make the decisions…
  15. Everyone is so focused on Nicole watching the O-line, which really doesn’t matter and ignoring the real problem. We just had a starter get cut, usually backups get cut. if the starter gets cut shouldn’t the backups already have been cut? Shouldn’t they in theory be worse, hence the reason they were not starting? Do you really think the owners wife assembled the o-line? Heck, do you really think the owner did? He might sit in on the process but that is on the coaches and front office.
  16. So Tepper should have kept bad coaches for longer?
  17. Biggest takeaway: Reich admitted that he was wrong about the QB he wanted.
  18. but weren't you or somebody at one time linking articles talking about how Fitt and Frank agreed not to talk about their preferences at QB during the draft process until the end and it when they did, they both liked Young from the start. I seem to get chastised for not believing everything I read..... I guess it depends on the agenda.
  19. Our front office would probably justify it now since it was “this years” first, even though this years first was last years next years first
  20. He has a better chance of going too-15 then 2nd round.
  21. Do you honestly think Keon will be there in the 2nd?
  22. Wasn’t their a report that Fitt and Frank agreed not to talk about who they preferred during the process but when they finally did it was Bryce all along?
  23. I'm not talking about which of us (the fans) wanted Young, but which of the front office? Seems like now people are trying to run with narrative that Tepper was the reason, but after the draft all we heard about was it was some magical moment where Fitt and Frank waited to the last minute to tell each other who they liked it and was Young and they both thought that way from the start. I will say that i do believe any time you have the #1 pick, and especially if you are using it on a QB, that the owner has to sign off and has final say. That really isn't unusual, but I don't buy this idea that he is doing the scouting and totally overriding an entire staff if there is a huge difference of opinion. If the HC and GM and scouting department all say Stroud is a lot better prospect, I don't see an owner overriding that, too easy for him to look bad. Now if the front office views them pretty similar then yes maybe an owner makes that call. What if Fitt liked Young more and Frank liked Stroud more? Maybe at that point an owner makes the call. I don't know if any of us know for sure at this point. I do think though if we continue to lose more games you might see more finger pointing.
