  1. The only hypothetical where I’d like this is if we sent Burns, Moton, and one/two of our 2nd round picks for #1. Then we select Bryce Young at #1 and Skoronski at #9. Sign a DE in free agency and we’re looking good for the next decade if we hit on those two picks.
  2. It’s more likely a player would ask for more money to stay in a location they do not prefer. That may be what’s happening and would have the same effect.
  3. ESPN graded YGM the 8th best edge defender in the NFL last year in run stop win rate.
  4. Honestly, this could get interesting for the Panthers. He was born and raised in Charlotte. If he truly wants out of New York, we would seem a logical landing spot and maybe he'd be willing to sign at a discount to play in his hometown.
  5. Jones's motivation to stay in New York:
  6. I like him and would be happy if he was our selection at 9 or without giving up a crazy haul. I still like Young more though and hope his size scares those at the top.
  7. I was more interested in others takes after looking at those stats, but if asked my preference… I’d rather have Trubisky for $8mil while we search for a young QB to build around than Carr for $30mil.
  8. Derek Carr vs Mitch Trubisky stat comparison: https://stathead.com/football/pcm_finder.cgi?player_id2=TrubMi00&player_id1=CarrDe02&sum=0&request=1&utm_campaign=2023_01_wdgt_player_comparison&utm_source=pfr&utm_medium=sr_xsite&utm_id=CarrDe02 I'm not seeing a ~$20+ million difference
  9. I'm just going to leave this here for your entertainment: https://stathead.com/football/pcm_finder.cgi?player_id2=TrubMi00&player_id1=CarrDe02&sum=0&request=1&utm_campaign=2023_01_wdgt_player_comparison&utm_source=pfr&utm_medium=sr_xsite&utm_id=CarrDe02 Derek Carr vs. Mitch Trubisky comparison
  10. It's not that we "have to" trade Burns. I agree with you it seems the Panthers want to keep him. I like him as a player, but I don't think he should get top 5 DE/OLB money - yet. My thought is until we find a franchise QB to build around, every 1st round pick attainable carries more value. That might be the pick we land our QB with, or they might be used in a trade to acquire our QB. We're not going anywhere until we get the QB position settled.
  11. In the scenario being discussed, Burns is sent elsewhere in a trade up for a QB in this year's draft. I'd hope we would only trade him to make that move if it was for Young or Stroud. I think it's the right move and attempt to replace Burns's production with a guy like Ngakoue and draft picks.
  12. If Reich continues his affinity for bigger possession WRs, that could benefit TMJ. I'd also hope we target AT Perry in the 3rd if we haven't drafted a WR before then. He could be our knockoff Tee Higgins.
  13. What makes our team better? CJ Stroud or Bryce Young playing QB instead of Darnold - or - Brian Burns playing DE instead of Ngakoue?
  14. If we're a QB away, which is the most important position on the field, we should be ok trading Burns if it means we land our QB.
  15. Sign Darnold to two year, 5 mil per year deal if he'll accept. Wait until draft night for any trade up since a team like the Colts could jump us if we move to 3 too early. If the right guy (Young or Stroud) is there at pick #3, make the call. If Young & Stroud are both gone by pick #3, trade down and select BPA. Draft Hooker with our 3rd or 4A pick. Play Darnold the first 5 games. If we're 3-2 or better, keep rolling until we're out of playoff contention. If we're 2-3 or worse, insert Hooker/Corral to see what they have. If they don't have it, it doesn't matter and stick with them putting us in good position to grab a QB in the 2024 draft.
  16. Agree. I want to see him at RB more. He should be used similar to Deebo.
  17. I don’t do the uninformed posting thing. Shenault put up 36% of DJ’s total rushing and receiving yards in 2022 despite only getting 27% of the snaps DJ played. He’s a playmaker. I also posted recently that Shenault led the league in yards after catch per reception. That was my argument for moving him to RB since most of the league leaders in that category are the best RBs in the game. He’s 6’1, ~230lb and we’re looking for a RB. We should use a playmaker like him more often. At least give it a shot.
  18. We’re throwing a lot of blame around now. QBs and scheme. I agree he’s had an uphill battle in that regard, but I also saw Shenault flash in one year about as much as DJ since we drafted him. He’s a good wideout. I just think he’s a strong #2 option for a contending team.
  19. Not sure. I stumbled on that link when I googled wide receiver rankings last night. I was exploring a thought I was having about trading for Tee Higgins. Ha
  20. He doesn't get open as well as you're portraying here. This site ranked him 89th in the NFL among wide receivers and tight ends at getting open in 2022: https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/nfl-receiver-rankings/
  21. I like DJ, but he’s more in the 25-35 range imo.
  22. Sam Laporta too. He’s in my top 3 to 4
  23. Didn’t see much from Reddick tonight. I still like him as a player though.
  24. Jalen Hurts with the squib Hail Mary
  25. That’s a very slanted portrayal of the Bucs game. One fumble was due to a whiff from Ekwonu and the other an early snap from Boze when Darnold wasn’t looking. Also, one deep ball to DJ he had to come back for bc their dlineman hit Darnold as he threw it. The INT was truly terrible. You’re wrong about all of his stats being bad. He finished around middle of the pack in many QB stats this year if you extrapolate to 17 games.
