Would be a home run for me, either one. By far My top two right now. Wasn’t sold on Kafka earlier this week, but with news about more than a mid first next year being the price for Payton, I want little to do with that. Unless it comes down to him or Wilks.
-
So why isn’t he being pursued elsewhere? Possibly because he’s average at best? Conservative? Defense looked like poo after he took over? I could go on. Literally nobody wants Steve Wilks except for you and like 2 other guys on this board.
-
Pro Wilks crowd will not address this. He went .500 as the coach and lost every big game he coached in. But by god, I’m not sure we can do better. I have been and will continue to hope we get anyone but Steve Wilks.
-
He threw for 355 yards and two touchdowns. He had a pick or two as well, it he’s also not a starting franchise QB. I think Steichen would do wonders for a young QB, if we are lucky enough to get one.
-
Pass. He is not being interviewed literally anywhere else for any position. Let alone coach. Seems like a good man, but he’s proven we can do better.

Go on record now before the hire is made Re: Sean Payton
Kentucky Panther replied to GOAT's topic in Carolina Panthers
I just gotta say, especially because I know if you’re posting on an internet message board, you’re one of the bigger fans of the team, nobody here is going to stop watching Carolina play if we get Payton. Especially once we start winning. This team has sat through failure after failure, this will not be the straw that finally breaks the camel’s back. Regardless of what is posted today. -

Wasn’t my first choice, but would be such a refreshing product on the field. I would be pretty excited going in to next season.- 176 replies

Roman Harper thinks Sean Payton could be our next HC now
Kentucky Panther replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Probably not as bad as Sam in the grand scheme of things no, don’t want. He’s not elite anymore. He’s thrown some of the worst interceptions I’ve ever seen the past couple of seasons, especially this year. There is zero reason for us to sign him instead of looking for a younger guy. He can no longer carry a team to a title. And although our roster isn’t bad, it’s not going to be a title contender next season. -

Although not my favorite, I could talk myself into Payton as our coach. At the very least, we would be more exciting to watch. Keep Brady out of Charlotte. He’s pretty cooked and honestly not sure he’s even an upgrade from Darnold at 46 -
Only way I want Reich is if it comes down to him or Wilks. Payton or Steichen or Kafka before either of those guys.
-
This is what I’m starting to think as well. For better or worse.

I would be fine with that hire. Again, I would take him over Wilks in a heartbeat.

I mean, if we aren’t getting Johnson or Steichen sign me up for Payton. I would take him 100/100 times over Wilks. -
If it comes down to him, Payton, or Wilks, I will drive to Philly and help him move personally.
-
Fug the Panthers if we keep Wilks.
-
Dude went from favorite to not in contention in like 2 days. Sucks, I wanted him. Looks like it actually might be Payton. Hoping for Steichen now.

In an offseason with so many talented, young offensive guys available to bring in, Tepper would rather give up draft capital and hire a guy who, at the very best, will be here 7 or 8 seasons. I don’t get it. But it is Tepper. -

Same. Keep our picks and he’s probably here for a while. Payton, although a solid coach, especially on offense, is a rat. And he could fug us long term. -
Every other franchise knows better

I’d be fine with Steichen. He’s just not my favorite.

Would love nothing more than to see news tomorrow that Johnson is the guy. Not sure if it can happen that quickly but man, I’m ready to get our guy and get running.

If Wilks had made adjustments in the Bucs game
Kentucky Panther replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
He had proven he wasn’t great at coaching before that game. All it did was make Teppers choice easier. -
You won’t get many people to disagree with this. It’s not even close
-
It got us a higher drift pick, we avoided getting clowned in this game, and it’s most likely the reason Wilks won’t be here next season. Definitely embarrassing but it worked out alright.
