  1. Beat me by seconds. Is he trying to say in that tweet that most of the contract will be guaranteed?
  2. I don't think that's how it works but I could easily be wrong. I think when you restructure it replaces the current contract instead of them running consecutively.
  3. So how does this affect our cap space THIS yr. He already counts for almost 15M. If he gets 20m a yr that includes this yr. Where is that extra 5 coming from or is the cap hit and not the actual money backloaded?
  4. So at 20M a yr that would be 60M guaranteed. I'm cool with whatever they pay him, as I've said before.
  5. ESPN just reported that they have agreed in principle and expect 20M a year.
  6. Just heard on WFNZ a that Cam may sign a contract thru 2020 today.
  7. Man that's great stuff Igo. The WR group was the one unit on the team I wanted to see most as the battles for each spot (or even how many spots) will be so tight. With the presumed top 2 out of the mix temporarily, the other guys get a chance to shine. And while the possible "arrival" of the new Stephen Hill could be a game changer for this team...the noted infectious enthusiasm of Cam Newton is what makes me think this offense and to some extent this team...is going to have a special year. Many fans are expressing their excitement for this team this year...but I think the players know something special is afoot as well.
  8. Headed to South Jersey with family for pool fun and drinking...exactly like my fallen brothers would want. Although they would also want me to hook up so I might let them down a little. I said "might"! You never know.
  9. I certainly wouldn't say it can't happen. Humans are involved and it's sports. And group think on a message board for a sports team is one of the more likely place to find it. But it doesn't have to be the norm. For example your post right there is a perfect example. Calm, rational and productive to the discussion. But challenging group think for the sake of being challenging in a haughty manner is what I'm talking about. That only leads to overly emotional reactions. It devolves the conversation. Too often stating opinions as facts or using hyperbole spirals into mouth breathing arguments.
  10. One of the things I've noticed is that negative contrarians are like millennial hipsters in that if their take is deliberately negative to the team and against the relative norm then they think they are being cool, hip or edgy (re: unique and original thinkers). And that's juvenile. I've seen many posters who are well thought out and have different opinions but express those opinions calmly and logically. And strangely the huddle doesn't put those people on blast. Sure some get butthurt and then realize a rational discussion is happening and chill out. Mostly I've seen sane, pragmatic discussions. But if you choose to feel persecuted because of your edgy take and you give that take with a hipsters air of arrogance...well you just might get called out for the petulant child you're being. That said, I've found most Huddlers to be sane and rational if you conduct yourself like an adult. Most are nice people that I've met. But I have noticed a slight irrational tone when it comes to Cam being persecuted by the media. But I can forgive that. Huddle gonna huddle.
  11. I think Todman and Reaves may be cut. It's hard to say though. Should be a good competition. I assume that with all this competition, we don't see much of Stewart in the preseason for fear of getting hurt and everyone knows he's the starter.
  12. A quick search reveals that he is right. Maybe you read his post wrong.
  13. Oh. Yes. I thought you were saying the moved back PAT was rewarding bad offense for not scoring. You were talking about 4 pts for a FG from there. Nevermind.
  14. https://twitter.com/billbarnwell/status/601053937739964417 Per Bill Voth
  15. It's not rewarding bad offense because the TD is still worth 6. You can't punch it in you only get a chance at 3.
  16. Plus spray tan, spiked hair, Bluetooth ear piece and selfie stick.
  17. My confidence going into camp is at a 9. Coming out of camp? I don't know yet. At this point, I see us at 11 wins and winning the South again...plus or minus 2 games. I'll reevaluate after camp and after preseason as the injuries get updated and the roster are made, not just for us but for the rest of the league as well.
  18. My high school played against Dorsey Levens in football and basketball. I think they won 77-0 and he was the first guy I've ever seen in high school reverse dunk in a game. He was a man among boys.
  19. Cargo Shorts and 2o beers might compete. My money is on Cargo Shorts FTW.
  20. Do players want that option? I would think you're right that players want the second contract as soon as possible. In this case, I think Irvin wants to play for Quinn but I don't know the inner workings of SEA. But both the option and the tag are only 1 year contracts and leaves an opening for an injury that they would want to avoid. So I don't know. In the end, though, for NFL players I think it comes down to guaranteed money...since they can be cut whenever.
  21. I agree with Tiger and the others about Cam being unique. A running QB is nothing new. Hell for the longest time the QB with the most rushing yards was Steve Young. And I've seen many QBs play in my 41 years (not as many as some and I certainly don't know as much as others). And I've never seen anyone like Cam. He's the only QB I've ever seen that can run like the best of them and not get seriously hurt. Look at RGIII. Look at Steve Young. Cam has all the tools of a very good (maybe not elite but then again maybe) pocket QB AND he is the best running QB to ever play the game. Normally guys are one or the other. Vick was an amazing runner and the fastest back in the NFL (including running backs) and he had a laser arm. Accuracy? Not so much. Could he read a defense? Nope. Rodgers runs pretty well and so does Luck. But Cam is much better than they are at it. And yet he has all the traditional passing tools as well. If he explodes this year, which I think he will, then he leaps into elite status in my mind. And a season after that he will in everyone else's too.
