  1. Right now, UNC has shot takers and Michigan has shot makers. Carolina is going to have to pick it up on the defensive end or this could get ugly.
  2. Defense and execution is optional tonight, just up and down pickup basketball.
  3. Got a good one in Charlotte tonight. UNC vs. Michigan.
  4. We needed another CB so I’ll take it!
  5. I wouldn’t be totally shocked to see him pivot and go back to the draft. I felt like the only reason he was returning to school was to make some NIL money at a P5. Right now his only options seems to be returning to Coastal or joining Chadwell at Liberty.
  6. Lolol I can’t be the only one that thought that the only reason he took that shot last night on the short handed break was because there wasn’t anyone else to pass to lol.
  7. So what does everyone think the lines will look like when fully healthy? If I had to guess, I’d go: Pacioretty - Aho - Teravainen Svechnikov - Kotkaniemi - Necas Martinook - Staal - Fast Noesen - Stastny - Jarvis Extra’s: Stepan - Kase Slavin - Burns Skjei - Pesce de Haan - Chatfield Kochetkov Andersen Raanta Call Up’s: Drury, Coghlan, Lajoie I honestly don’t even think we have to add a forward at the deadline. Though if we do, I think an upgrade at 2C would be in order. We could ship out salary in Stastny, Kase, and Andersen and then prospects and draft picks as the main sweeteners. I do however think it’s important that we find a PMD for the third pair for the playoffs, whether it be through signing Morrow and bringing him up or making a trade.
  8. Everyone is at practice, think Aho plays against Pittsburgh and we see Paccioretty and Kase sometime in the middle of January. Also, fantastic turnout for an afternoon practice.
  9. I think it’s also worth mentioning that Kochetkov was acquired with one of the picks that we obtained in the Jeff Skinner trade. At the time, people hated the Skinner trade but long story short, the Canes turned Skinner into Kochetkov and Nikishin; and Nikishin in his own right is a dominant player, he’s one of, if not the best (and most physical) defenseman in the KHL. I’m hoping we see him over here in the US in a few years (once his KHL contract is up). The Canes also acquired Cliff Pu in the Skinner trade but we can gloss over that tidbit. For those wondering, Nikishin currently has has 9 goals, 22 assists, and 31 points in 40 games as a defenseman, he’s also a plus 17. He’s also doing all of this while being a 6’4” / 215 lb. wrecking ball (see below).
  10. Would think that Aho is back for the Pittsburgh game as he’ll get a full practice in today.
  11. Carolina sends the Devils back to hell.. I mean New Jersey. CANES 4 - Devils 1 Goal 1 - Kotkaniemi (4) from Jarvis (10) and de Haan (4) Goal 2 - Staal (9) from Martinook (8) and Slavin (7) Goal 3 - Teravainen (2) from Slavin (8) and Fast (8) (Shorthanded) Goal 4 - Noesen (6) Unassisted Kochetkov with a .974 save percentage tonight Notes - Fast recorded his 10th point - Martinook recorded his 15th point - Kochetkov is now second in the NHL in GAA and third in save percentage, he also recorded his 10th win of the season. - The Canes are now second in the NHL with 46 points behind only the Bruins who have 52 points.
  12. Good God, protect that kid at all cost!!! KOOOOCHHHH!
  13. Tripp ”Kochetkov is the best goalie in the NHL right now” *No Lies Detected*
  14. At least we have one team from the Carolina’s that doesn’t flop in big games.
  15. Also, just wanted to make sure I get my Erik Haula is a bitch post in as well.
  16. So should I just not watch the first periods anymore?
  17. Just got home and flipped the game on to see Staal snipe one… you’re welcome.
  18. After the skate, Rod said that he wanted Aho to get a full practice in before playing. It is a little odd though because just a few days ago he stated he just wanted Aho to get a practice in, which I would think would include a morning skate. Hopefully he’s back soon.
  19. Aho WILL NOT play tonight, Drury has been recalled. Aho was skating with Coghlan in practice this morning and Patches, Kase, and Andersen were in no contact sweaters. Projected Lines Svech - Stastny - Necas Turbo - KK - Jarvy Marty - Staal - Fast Drury - Stepan - Noesen Slavin - Burns Skjei - Pesce de Haan - Chatfield Kochetkov Raanta
  20. The thing with Ned is that he’s a really small goalie, he has to be elite with his angles and positioning or he’ll get beaten.
  21. I actually think he might be back tomorrow, nothing concrete but Rod said he wouldn’t play against Pittsburgh because there wasn’t a day of practice in between the games. I think we might see him tomorrow but can’t guarantee it.
  22. Coghlan is back up and according to the AHL transaction report, Drury was sent down, no confirmation on that though. Coghlan had 2 goals, 1 assist, and 3 points in 5 games with the Wolves, he was also a minus 2. Drury has 0 goals, 2 assists, and 2 points in 19 games with the Canes, Drury is also a plus 3.
