  1. For sure, but I think @Anybodyhome pointed out that over the past few years we have only carried seven defenseman and in an absolute worst case scenario we can always bring Lajoie up. I just don’t think the Canes are enamored with carrying a $2.2M defenseman that isn’t playing.
  2. That’s what journalism has become now a days… about making people look stupid or trying to get them to admit they were wrong. Doesn’t mean that the questions aren’t technically valid… but I think we can all fill in the blanks and don’t need Tepper to explicitly tell us when he decided to fire Rhule.
  3. I for one… did not want him back on a 7 year deal, 5 years at the absolute max.
  4. Well Will’s question seemed to set Tepper off, if I was Fowler I wouldn’t have even followed that… eventually you get to a point in these press conferences that it doesn’t do anyone any good to continue going.
  5. A friend of mine mentioned something similar, he has a few inside sources but it’s rarely ground breaking info (like the info that the defunct Twitter account was giving us). But basically my buddy said that going after KK was all about Trocheck, they (the Canes) knew early that when his (Trocheck’s) contract was up, that he was gone.
  6. I mean if anyone knows what a good manager looks like it’s Fuchs… coming over as an EPL champion, he knows exactly how a team should be run. Charlotte was a mess from the get go, a lot of transfers fell through, the team president left, MAR was in way over his head (the MLS is one of the more difficult soccer leagues to coach in because they have some wacky organizational rules), and there was a disconnect between a lot of the players and MAR. Lattanzio did a great job filling in and once he found his group of guys toward the end of the season, the team started getting results. All this to say, I think Tepper should be involved in the process of hiring the coaches for his respective teams, after all, he bought the teams. But at the end of the day (shoutout Matt Rhule), people are in place who know more than him about the sport that he is… just a fan of… at some point he needs to let the people who know football run the football team (both football teams). Fowler should have taken the high road but in reality, his questions were valid… why is there so much turnover between all of Tepper’s organizations when the only common denominator is… Tepper.
  7. Nino is a favorite of mine, I expect he’ll get a nice video tribute and standing O from the crowd, and he deserves it, wish him nothing but the best (except when he plays us).
  8. Fuchs was never absent and Swiderski was on international duty…. not sure where you got the idea that the team captain bailed on training… but that didn’t happen. Fuchs obviously didn’t agree with the way that MAR managed the team but like I said, MAR had his fair share of supporters. And as I previously mentioned, a lot of the riff came from the budget. MAR wanted better players and Krneta and Tepper told him that there was a budget. Relieving MAR of his duties and replacing him with Lattanzio was the right choice but not all of your facts are accurate. And as I said before, Tepper and Krneta deserve the blame for hiring MAR in the first place. MAR hadn’t lasted more than two years in any of previous managerial positions, so why exactly would Tepper and Krneta think he would in Charlotte…
  9. There’s the Stamkos one-timer snapshot, glad that Svech has added that to his arsenal.
  10. It’s refreshing how honest hockey coaches are in their interviews… I think the best in game interviews probably come from hockey coaches.
  11. Speaking of Jarvis (and Brayden Point who made a nice move there), that’s who Jarvis said he models his game after (though Jarvis no longer plays center). If Jarvis gives us Brayden Point type production then I’ll be ecstatic.
  12. I want someone to lay Trouba out this year… dude is crawling up my list of most disliked players.
  13. Playing with Svech will definitely help and and if Necas plays as good as we know he can then I don’t see any reason why KK won’t reach 60 points. He just looks much more comfortable at center, being able to constantly skate instead of stopping and starting like wingers do is beneficial for KK since he’s not the best skater.
  14. I didn’t like the term he got, too many years for me. If KK can be a 60 point 2C on his current contract then the Canes will be good for a longggg time. Getting away with paying $4.8M for a good 2C is larceny.
  15. Easy to miss, they were playing over in Czech Republic.
  16. That’s not entirely accurate… as someone who follows Charlotte FC extensively… players did not stop showing up for training… the Twitter account TopBin90 (Charlotte FC rumor account) never mentioned anything like that. What was mentioned was that MAR was frustrated with the budget for the team which led to his iconic interviews where he said “We (Charlotte FC) are fugged” (translated from Spanish) and “I’m not Harry Potter, I can’t do magic.” Additionally, many players liked MAR and even showed up at his house to say goodbye, many also didn’t like him (ex. Anton Walkes). The disconnect stemmed from the budget. It’s obvious that MAR wanted to spend big as where Tepper and Krneta wanted to be budget team. There were certainly other issues like MAR’s unwillingness to trust MLS players and his preference of foreign players, but overall both Tepper and Krneta deserve the blame for making the hire in the first place… just like Tepper deserves the blame for hiring Rhule.
  17. It’s go time… Kochetkov and Rees went back to Chicago and Marty came back up; Bear is still here and Drury is not… but that could change in the coming weeks.
  18. Don’t think it’ll be instant but I expect him to be gone eventually, can’t imagine the Canes want to pay $2.2M for the 8th defenseman.
