  1. If Bear gets moved; then I think Drury goes down for a day, Stepan gets signed for whatever amount gets us within a million of the salary cap, Gardiner goes on LTIR, Patches goes on IR, and Drury gets called back up. Roster: Forwards (14) Teravainen - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - Kotkaniemi - Necas Stastny - Staal - Fast Martinook - Drury - Kase Extras - Stepan, Noesen Defense (7) Slavin - Burns Skjei - Pesce de Haan - Coghlan Chatfield Goalies (2) Andersen Raanta Injured Reserve (1) - Paccioretty Long Term Injured Reserve (1) - Gardiner
  2. Rod extended last year so he’s got two years left as does Martinook.
  3. Don’t know which defenseman will be on the roster which is why they aren’t automatics. Could be all three, could be two of them. After watching Tage Thompson embarrass Bear last night, I’d move him for future considerations at this point.
  4. Canes now sit at 25. (19) Automatics - Teravainen, Aho, Jarvis, Svechnikov, Kotkaniemi, Necas, Stastny, Staal, Fast, Martinook, Kase, Slavin, Burns, Skjei, Pesce, de Haan, Andersen, Raanta, Paccioretty (injured) (6) Question Marks - Stepan, Drury, Noesen, Coghlan, Chatfield, Bear (8) Assigned to Chicago - Stromwall, Rees, Ponomarev, Gunler, Tieksola, Honka, Kochetkov, Sawchenko (1) Released from Tryout (Assigned to Chicago) - Mendel (5) Waived for the purpose of assignment to Chicago - Dzingel, MacEachern, Pederson, Mattheos, Lajoie (2) Injured Non-Roster - Suzuki, Fitzgerald (1) Mutually Agreed To Part Ways - Dronov
  5. Probably not, but this team isn’t destined for any success, the best chance is landing a star player in the draft.
  6. No but it gives you a better shot at long term success than getting bounced by 40 in the play in game every year.
  7. It’s Wembanyama, Henderson, then everyone else… if there was a year to tank, it’s this year.
  8. Was actually thinking the same thing. Send him down, keep some of these other guys up and let everything clear then make adjustments.
  9. Just breaking it down: Automatics - Teravainen, Aho, Jarvis, Svechnikov, Kotkaniemi, Necas, Stastny, Staal, Fast, Martinook, Kase, Slavin, Burns, Skjei, Pesce, de Haan, Andersen, Raanta Question Marks - Stepan, Drury, Noesen, Stromwall, Dzingel, Coghlan, Chatfield, Bear Going Down - Rees, Ponomarev, MacEachern, Pederson, Mattheos, Gunler, Tieksola, Suzuki (injured), Lajoie, Mendel, Honka, Kochetkov, Sawchenko Injured Reserve - Paccioretty Long Term Injured Reserve - Gardiner The Canes can keep up to five of the ‘Question Marks’. Note, I originally had Coghlan as an automatic, but if he’s picked up a knock that’s going to keep him out for a bit then that could change things. The automatics (along with Paccioretty) have a cap hit of $77,329,417, which leaves $5,170,583 in cap space.
  10. Marty is a swell guy, and I know he’s penciled in for a spot because of Rod, but this is one year that I’m a little upset about him making the team. I’ve really liked what Stepan, Noesen, and Stromwall have done, I think it’s time for Drury to make the jump, and obviously there’s Kase. So essentially six guys (Marty, Drury, Kase, Stromwall, Stepan, and Noesen) for four spots. Hopefully whoever gets sent down makes it through waivers as I think only Drury is exempt.
  11. A couple weeks ago we were Nebraska… not sure which is worse tbh.
  12. Canes fall 4-2, good third period for the group after a poor first and mediocre second. Goal 1 - Rees (Unassisted) Goal 2 - Stromwall (Bear) Now it’s decision time… who stays up, who goes down, should know by Thursday.
  13. Rees gets the Canes on the board poking one past Craig Anderson and a few seconds later, Malte Stromwall snipes one past Anderson. Canes 2 - Sabres 3 15 left in the third.
  14. I know it’s our kids out there but they look pretty rough. Not a whole lot to like from any of our guys out there.
  15. Gardiner LTIR. His cap hit is currently factored in if you add up to totals. Also I’d be shocked if Kase wasn’t on the team, he’s not playing tonight so it’s pretty much guaranteed that he’s staying.
  16. Roster for today’s game: A little shocked to see KK and de Haan playing, would have thought they’d put in Gunler and Honka, but those two may already be headed to Chicago.
  17. I want to put in a request for one for Patches. I want him with an eye patch, an admirals hat instead of hockey helmet, maybe a parrot on his shoulder, and a peg leg replacing one of his skates.
  18. Final. Canes 8 - BJ’s 1 Goal 1: Kotkaniemi (1) from Burns (1) and Jarvis (1) Goal 2: Noesen (2) from Skjei (1) Goal 3: Stepan (2) from Slavin (3) and MacEachern (1) Goal 4: Burns (3) from Necas (2) and Jarvis (2) Goal 5: Necas (2) from Dzingel (2) Goal 6: Skjei (1) from Necas (3) and Kotkaniemi (3) Goal 7: Stepan (3) from Burns (2) and Noesen (1) Goal 8: Necas (3) from Dzingel (3) and Stepan (1) Raanta: .960 sv. % Three Stars 3rd - Brent Burns 2nd - Derek Stepan 1st - Martin Necas The Canes are back at it again tomorrow against Buffalo at 7PM on NHLN.
  19. The fact that the Canes are doing this without 30 goal scorer, Patches, is insane…
  20. Now Skjei gets in on the action… this team is one goal away from the TD.
