Walkes was great, not sure why Makoun was playing over him. -

Also, it was a breath of fresh air seeing Afful and Walkes get meaningful minutes today. They both were superb. -

I’m not sure if that was our best performance because the finishing was lacking at times but it was definitely up there and it was one of our more exciting performances. Once thing I like about Lattanzio’s formation is that it’s really a 4-1-4-1 with a true CDM (Bronico) and wingers that track back. Both Gaines and Shinyashiki tracked further back defensively then they have all year and when there was a change in position we were able to get both of them out in space and let them use their speed. It was fun to watch. -
Hopefully the Wolves close it out tonight, updating the playoff stats below… Drury is still on a tear. Updated Playoff Stats Josh Leivo - 10 goals, 8 assists Jack Drury - 7 goals, 8 assists Stefan Noesen - 7 goals, 8 assists Andrew Poturalski - 4 goals, 8 assists David Gust - 3 goals, 7 assists C.J. Smith - 3 goals, 5 assists Joey Keane - 7 assists Max Lajoie - 3 goals, 3 assists Jamieson Rees - 2 goals, 3 assists Jalen Chatfield - 1 goal, 4 assists Vasili Ponomarev - 1 goal, 4 assists Cavan Fitzgerald - 1 goal, 4 assists Richard Panik - 1 goal, 4 assists Stelio Mattheos - 2 goals, 2 assists Jesper Sellgren - 3 assists Ivan Lodnia - 2 goals Noel Gunler - 1 goal, 1 assist Josh Jacobs - 1 goal, 1 assist Spencer Smallman - 2 assists Alex Lyon - 8 wins, 1 loss, 1.90 GAA, .925 SV% Pyotr Kochetkov - 1 win, 1 loss, 2.86 GAA, .918 SV%

Also agree, and so do a lot of NBA pundits. If Atkinson was going to be the hire then stick with the guy you already have who is also known to be a player developer and ask him to overhaul some of his assistants to bring in a defensive minded assistant coach like Kidd did with Sweeney. Atkinson’s strengths and weaknesses look nearly identical to that of Borrego’s. From Nets Fan’s… Atkinson is a culture builder and describes his style of coaching similar to that of a college program. He’s good at player development but struggles as an in-game coach and his rotations are poor.
-
The Nets went through more poo than any other team in the league this year so I wouldn’t necessarily say that’s a good comparison. It’ll be more telling what Nash does this year. With that said, hopefully Atkinson learned to get a long with star players in his time with Los Angeles and Golden State. If not then you’ll see guys who are free spirited players like Ball and Bridges leave. They don’t need an overhaul in the way that they play. They need someone to guide them on playing a two way game. If Atkinson tries to tear this whole thing down and rebuild it from scratch then we’ll be in a worse situation than we were with Borrego.
-
It’s not just an Irving and Durant thing, all superstars have a sense of entitlement to them. If you can’t work with them then you won’t be successful… that’s really all there is to it. Look at this years finals… Tatum and company couldn’t work with Steven’s so they moved him to an executive position. Coached have to stop treating adults like children, it doesn’t work in the NBA.
-
The rest of his coaches haven’t had an issue with him. And it’s not just Kyrie, it was Durant as well.
-
I think there’s give and take. The offense doesn’t necessarily need an overhaul. I understand that there could be some correlation between quick shots and poor defense as the more running there is, the more likely it is for someone to get tired… and what do players stop playing when they get tired… defense. However, I think that can be solved with better rotations. Our team is built to run and our best player wants to run. There was a coach tailor made for his skill set out there and his only fault is that he’s poor defensively. I’ll also mention that Brooklyn fans absolutely hated Atkinson’s rotations. I think the correct decision would have been to hire D’Antoni with the contingency that there would be a defensive specialist that was coming along with him. I personally think Atkinson overhauling the culture could easily drive some guys away. The bottom line is that Atkinson and Brooklyn’s best players didn’t see eye to eye and that’s why he was fired… that’s not exactly a good look.
-
The one thing that I do like is that he’s a good player developer but the problem is, if you can’t work with stars then it doesn’t matter how good you are at developing players because you need stars to win in the NBA. Essentially, Atkinson sounds like he’d be an elite assistant coach or a great college coach because he can focus on development. However, I have my doubts about him leading a group that has strong personalities and a particular type of way that they like to play. If Atkinson tries to slow the style of play down that our team is accustomed to then this will be a disaster.
-
Also feel very concerned about this hire. I didn’t like how his tenure ended in Brooklyn and it was made known by both Irving and Durant that they didn’t like Atkinson’s culture. Atkinson runs a tight ship and while that’s nice, there has to be some give and take, especially with our young group. If there isn’t any give and take, I can see this going south real quickly. If Atkinson tries to essentially put his style of play on guys like LaMelo and Bridges then they’ll be gone before you know it. Would have preferred D’Antoni with an assistant coach specially brought in for defense.

The Wolves get it done again and are now one win away from the Calder Cup Finals. Panik and Lodnia, two guys that the Canes aren’t tied to, lead the Wolves to victory tonight. Lyon was in net and gets the shutout. Updated Playoff Stats Josh Leivo - 9 goals, 8 assists Stefan Noesen - 7 goals, 6 assists Jack Drury - 6 goals, 7 assists Andrew Poturalski - 3 goals, 7 assists David Gust - 3 goals, 6 assists C.J. Smith - 3 goals, 5 assists Joey Keane - 7 assists Max Lajoie - 3 goals, 3 assists Jamieson Rees - 2 goals, 3 assists Vasili Ponomarev - 1 goal, 4 assists Jalen Chatfield - 1 goal, 4 assists Richard Panik - 1 goal, 4 assists Stelio Mattheos - 2 goals, 2 assists Cavan Fitzgerald - 1 goal, 3 assists Jesper Sellgren - 3 assists Ivan Lodnia - 2 goals Noel Gunler - 1 goal, 1 assist Josh Jacobs - 1 goal, 1 assist Spencer Smallman - 2 assists

A good leader makes mistakes, a good leader also learns from their mistakes. Tepper’s actions and visions are synonymous with poor leadership skills as good leaders make sound decisions and don’t make the same mistakes multiple times. People get caught up in the thinking that a leader has to be well liked and a model citizen, that’s not the case. I don’t give a poo what Tepper’s personal life is like but the fact that he has made the same mistakes with Charlotte FC that he’s also made with the Panthers (see no further than the coaching disasters) leads me to believe that 1) he doesn’t even know what his vision is and 2) his actions are spur of the moment at best. All signs of a poor leader and being a leader is synonymous with making sound decisions. The bottom line is that his actions and vision shouldn’t lead anyone to believe that Tepper can lead this franchise and furthermore, that his decisions have been sound. -

13 of you shouldn’t be allowed to vote if you think this is what competent leadership looks like. -
I’d take D’Antoni, players love him, even Harden was a big fan of D’Antoni and for the most part, Mike reeled him in. Atkisnon on the other hand seemed to struggle coaching Durant and Irving and it was even reported that he wasn’t fond of coaching those guys. I think for the group that we have, we need a coach that can come in and command respect from our young group. I think that person was Darvin Ham but D’Antoni isn’t a bad consolation prize with the caveat that he brings an assistant to coach the defense. Quinn Snyder would also be interesting but it appears that there isn’t anything going on there.

He’s bounced around a tad but he might be a guy that your bring back as a fourth liner. I think he has more skill than Martinook.

Canes prospect, Noel Gunler, gets a goal, and Jalen Chatfield makes a kick save. 2-2 after 2.

As a Man United fan I’d like to add Frenkie de Jong but the bottom line is that it’s going to be difficult to secure talent without any chance of being in Champions League. It’s going to be an uphill battle for Ten Hag.
