  1. The one thing that I do like is that he’s a good player developer but the problem is, if you can’t work with stars then it doesn’t matter how good you are at developing players because you need stars to win in the NBA. Essentially, Atkinson sounds like he’d be an elite assistant coach or a great college coach because he can focus on development. However, I have my doubts about him leading a group that has strong personalities and a particular type of way that they like to play. If Atkinson tries to slow the style of play down that our team is accustomed to then this will be a disaster.
  2. Also feel very concerned about this hire. I didn’t like how his tenure ended in Brooklyn and it was made known by both Irving and Durant that they didn’t like Atkinson’s culture. Atkinson runs a tight ship and while that’s nice, there has to be some give and take, especially with our young group. If there isn’t any give and take, I can see this going south real quickly. If Atkinson tries to essentially put his style of play on guys like LaMelo and Bridges then they’ll be gone before you know it. Would have preferred D’Antoni with an assistant coach specially brought in for defense.
  3. The Wolves get it done again and are now one win away from the Calder Cup Finals. Panik and Lodnia, two guys that the Canes aren’t tied to, lead the Wolves to victory tonight. Lyon was in net and gets the shutout. Updated Playoff Stats Josh Leivo - 9 goals, 8 assists Stefan Noesen - 7 goals, 6 assists Jack Drury - 6 goals, 7 assists Andrew Poturalski - 3 goals, 7 assists David Gust - 3 goals, 6 assists C.J. Smith - 3 goals, 5 assists Joey Keane - 7 assists Max Lajoie - 3 goals, 3 assists Jamieson Rees - 2 goals, 3 assists Vasili Ponomarev - 1 goal, 4 assists Jalen Chatfield - 1 goal, 4 assists Richard Panik - 1 goal, 4 assists Stelio Mattheos - 2 goals, 2 assists Cavan Fitzgerald - 1 goal, 3 assists Jesper Sellgren - 3 assists Ivan Lodnia - 2 goals Noel Gunler - 1 goal, 1 assist Josh Jacobs - 1 goal, 1 assist Spencer Smallman - 2 assists
  4. Something about Chicago brings out the feistiness in our goalies.
  5. A good leader makes mistakes, a good leader also learns from their mistakes. Tepper’s actions and visions are synonymous with poor leadership skills as good leaders make sound decisions and don’t make the same mistakes multiple times. People get caught up in the thinking that a leader has to be well liked and a model citizen, that’s not the case. I don’t give a poo what Tepper’s personal life is like but the fact that he has made the same mistakes with Charlotte FC that he’s also made with the Panthers (see no further than the coaching disasters) leads me to believe that 1) he doesn’t even know what his vision is and 2) his actions are spur of the moment at best. All signs of a poor leader and being a leader is synonymous with making sound decisions. The bottom line is that his actions and vision shouldn’t lead anyone to believe that Tepper can lead this franchise and furthermore, that his decisions have been sound.
  6. 13 of you shouldn’t be allowed to vote if you think this is what competent leadership looks like.
  7. Mateo Klimowicz is a young, former U21 German international player (also eligible for Argentina), that plays a proper #10 role, and is very exciting on the ball. Stuttgart is currently looking to loan Klimowicz. Charlotte FC holds his discovery rights.
  8. I’d take D’Antoni, players love him, even Harden was a big fan of D’Antoni and for the most part, Mike reeled him in. Atkisnon on the other hand seemed to struggle coaching Durant and Irving and it was even reported that he wasn’t fond of coaching those guys. I think for the group that we have, we need a coach that can come in and command respect from our young group. I think that person was Darvin Ham but D’Antoni isn’t a bad consolation prize with the caveat that he brings an assistant to coach the defense. Quinn Snyder would also be interesting but it appears that there isn’t anything going on there.
  9. He’s bounced around a tad but he might be a guy that your bring back as a fourth liner. I think he has more skill than Martinook.
  10. Updated Playoff Stats Josh Leivo - 9 goals, 8 assists Jack Drury - 6 goals, 6 assists Stefan Noesen - 6 goals, 5 assists Andrew Poturalski - 3 goals, 7 assists David Gust - 3 goals, 6 assists C.J. Smith - 3 goals, 5 assists Joey Keane - 7 assists Max Lajoie - 3 goals, 3 assists Jamieson Rees - 2 goals, 3 assists Jalen Chatfield - 1 goal, 4 assists Stelio Mattheos - 2 goals, 2 assists Vasili Ponomarev - 1 goal, 3 assists Cavan Fitzgerald - 1 goal, 3 assists Jesper Sellgren - 3 assists Richard Panik - 3 assists Josh Jacobs - 1 goal, 1 assist Spencer Smallman - 2 assists Noel Gunler - 1 goal Ivan Lodnia - 1 goal Drury keeps on keeping on… that’s 64 points in 77 games this year.
  11. Canes prospect, Noel Gunler, gets a goal, and Jalen Chatfield makes a kick save. 2-2 after 2.
  12. As a Man United fan I’d like to add Frenkie de Jong but the bottom line is that it’s going to be difficult to secure talent without any chance of being in Champions League. It’s going to be an uphill battle for Ten Hag.
  13. Drury, 17 seconds in… game tied at 1, Kochetkov in net.
  14. I personally think if Necas leaves then he will tear it up but I also get why some people don’t think he a Rod player. He doesn’t play heavy and he doesn’t forecheck that well. However, I would be interested in seeming him back at center and centering two pure goal scorers, maybe Svechnikov and Jarvis. The problem is, if that doesn’t work out then we are fugged (assuming we put all our eggs in that basket).
  15. I don’t think Rod is on the hot seat but at the same time, the head coaching turnover in hockey isn’t like that of the NFL and NBA. If you don’t win a cup then you get canned.. Bruce Cassidy just got fired after making the playoffs in all six years as head coach of the Boston Bruins. Those six years included four trips to at least the second round of the playoffs and one trip to the Stanley Cup Finals, along with the President’s Trophy. It’s unfortunate but if Rod doesn’t make the the Eastern Conference Finals next year then I can see a scenario wear Dundon and and Waddell move on. It doesn’t mean it’s the right move but hockey is weird when it comes to the turnover of head coaches.
  16. Assuming Snyder is an option along with the other three finalists that Shams mentioned… I’d go… 1. Snyder 2. D’Antoni 3. Atkinson 4. Stotts
  17. New York will win the cup if they keep getting all those PP’s.
  18. The actual Starting XI GK - Sean Johnson (Berhalter is probably going to select Johnson as the third GK for the World Cup roster just as a sign of respect, though I think Horvath and Slonina are better players) LB - Joe Scally (I prefer Scally on the right but I’m excited to see him get the start) LCB - Aaron Long (this spot is in desperate need of an upgrade) RCB - Walker Zimmerman RB - DeAndre Yedlin LCM - Yunus Musah CM - Tyler Adams RCM - Weston McKennie LW - Christian Pulisic ST - Jesus Ferreira (this spot also needs an upgrade) RW - Tim Weah
  19. The USMNT takes on Uruguay at 5:00PM on FOX in what should be one of their toughest tests of the year. The team news is below: I’d like to see the following starting XI but Berhalter always has a few head scratchers. GK - Ethan Horvath (Turner isn’t dressed today) LB - Antonee Robinson LCB - Cameron Carter-Vickers (it’s either him or Long, both have been unimpressive but I want to give CCV a chance to play with Zimmerman) RCB - Walker Zimmerman RB - Joe Scally (he did some nice things against Morocco) LCM - Brenden Aaronson CM - Tyler Adams RCM - Weston McKennie LW - Christian Pulisic ST - Haji Wright RW - Tim Weah I also wouldn’t mind seeing Yedlin (though the last time I saw him, Yordy Reyna was crossing him up), Acosta, Musah, Tillman, and Arriola (who has been in great form recently) at some point today.
  20. I agree, should be rather easily. Ukraine should have been up 2-0 in the first 30 minutes but their finishing was poor.
  21. Ukraine had opportunities, just couldn’t pull it off.
  22. Should be a good match today between Wales and Ukraine.
  23. That’s what’s I’ve been doing as well (and following on social media). Now they used to show the finals on NHLN. Assuming the Wolves make the finals, I hope they do it again.
  24. The Wolves complete the comeback after being down 3-1 in the second period. Jamieson Rees scores in OT to give the Wolves the 1-0 lead in the AHL Western Conference Finals. The four players under contract who have a chance at making the big club next year (Drury, Rees, Chatfield, and Keane) all had a good night and combined for 2 goals and 5 assists. Additionally, Josh Leivo is absolutely killing it in the playoffs. In 8 games played he has 8 goals, 8 assists, and 16 points. Updated Playoff Stats Josh Leivo - 8 goals, 8 assists Stefan Noesen - 6 goals, 5 assists Jack Drury - 5 goals, 6 assists Andrew Poturalski - 3 goals, 7 assists C.J. Smith - 3 goals, 5 assists David Gust - 3 goals, 4 assists Joey Keane - 7 assists Max Lajoie - 3 goals, 3 assists Jamieson Rees - 2 goals, 3 assists Jalen Chatfield - 1 goal, 4 assists Stelio Mattheos - 2 goals, 2 assists Vasili Ponomarev - 1 goal, 3 assists Cavan Fitzgerald - 1 goal, 3 assists Richard Panik - 3 assists Josh Jacobs - 1 goal, 1 assist Jesper Sellgren - 2 assists Spencer Smallman - 2 assists Ivan Lodnia - 1 goal
