And they look even better now. It would have been nice to make the F4 but I don’t see how any team beats them.
-
Feel like UConn is going to work everyone anyway.
-
Coaching matters, Oats worked Hubert in the second half.
-
Spoke to soon on Withers.
-
Withers gave Carolina a chance.
-
Caleb Love from three.

High on Ray Davis because he fits with Canales’ scheme. He’s got a chip on his shoulder and has shown the ability to produce on both good and bad teams. He’s got some of if not the best feet in the draft and he finishes through contact. He’s also pretty explosive for a guy his size.

I get not a lot of people watch ACC ball but it’s Payton Wilson for me and I’m a UNC guy. Wilson arguably had the best season of any linebacker in FBS football last year and he does everything well. He can get after the QB, stop the run, he’s great in coverage, his angles are excellent, etc… All of his question marks (i.e. injury history, strength, and age) have nothing to do with his actual play. Just watch his tape against UNC, he absolutely dominated. His competitive nature is exactly what the Panthers need. I’d take the risk that his injury history is behind him and that with some NFL weight lifting, he’ll get a little stronger.

2023-2024 General Canes Thread
MillionDollarCam replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
The new lines seem to infer that Rod wants a better forechecking presence on each line and I’m for it. I’ll stand by the fact that you can’t win the cup unless all lines are contributing offensively. The new lines have a forechecking presence to go with some offense. When fully healthy go: Guentzel - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - Staal - Teravainen Martinook - Kuznetsov - Necas Noesen - Drury - Fast Lemieux - Kotkaniemi -
Who will score first. Svechnikov or Tony DeAngelo

See ya presidents trophy, we hardly knew ya.

This looks like a Bill Peters game to me. We look decent but all shots are from the outside, we’re just playing catch with Ned.
-
Yeah, everything is from the outside. Kuzy tried on that last shift but the Pens collapsed the middle.
-
Ned is seeing everything. Need a net front.
-
If there was ever a time for a PP goal.
-
Kooch saved the game right there.
-
Drury stays getting lit up.

Can’t win the cup like that and I’ll die on that hill. Need contribution from all lines because eventually one of the top two lines is going to get shutdown. Just look at Vegas last year, their 3C had 11 goals in the playoffs. Expecting one or two lines to carry you to the cup is a recipe for disaster. Only way it could potentially work is if the defense contributes at an elite level. We’re seeing first hand tonight what happens when the top line doesn’t score.
-
Can’t wait to see @Harbingers report card after this one. I imagine it won’t be pretty for us… even if we win.
-
Rod is a great coach but at this point he’s just hoping that the top line or defense wins us games. The other three lines are not providing any offense whatsoever. Load up the second line with Teravainen, throw Drury on the third to complete the forechecking line, and put Svech on the fourth with the hope that he can take advantage of easier matchups.
-
Teravainen is playing too well to be on that line right now and Svech is playing to poorly to be on the second.
-
If the defense stops contributing then we’re in trouble.
-
I hate seeing Teravainen wasted on with Staal and Martinook when he’s playing as good as he is.
-
I want to see: Guentzel - Aho - Jarvis Teravainen - Kuznetsov - Necas Martinook - Staal - Drury Svechnikov - Kotkaniemi - Noesen
-
I don’t see anything helping Svech but the press box or 4th line minutes right now. He’s not reading plays, he’s rarely in place to contribute offensively, bad penalties and turnovers, and mediocre defense. Necas is much more of a threat offensively and playing better than Svech right now, he deserves a chance to get it right, I think he needs another feeder though (Teravainen). Svech needs to spend time on the fourth line.
