I don’t think Roberts is making the team, he’s 34 years old and there’s just too much depth in front of him that can do more. If one of Smith or Saunders can show that they can be an average KR/PR then Roberts is gone. The locks are Moore, Anderson, and Marshall. The guys that have a leg up are Higgins, due to his rapport with Baker, and Zylstra, due to his ability to do everything (WR/ST/KR). Another thing to note about Zylstra is that he was the first WR in camp to develop chemistry with Baker. I also wouldn’t read to much into Saunders running with the one’s as Smith has also had a chance to do the same. It’s more likely than not that Smith and Saunders are battling for the final WR roster spot. As for Roberts, in my personal opinion, he’ll need to average 30 yards per KR and 10 yards per PR to justify a roster spot, he doesn’t do enough of anything else to provide true value. Not to mention, both Smith and Saunders are getting a look at KR and PR… it’s in the best interest of the ball club for one of those guys to push Roberts out. In my opinion… 1. Moore 2. Anderson 3. Marshall 4. Higgins 5. Zylstra 6. Smith/Saunders The Panthers could conceivably keep seven wide outs if they feel comfortable with how Tremble’s blocking has progressed and instead of keeping three tight ends (Thomas, Tremble, and Thompson), they only keep two (Thomas and Tremble).

2022 Charlotte FC Game Thread
MillionDollarCam replied to MillionDollarCam's topic in Charlotte Football Club
Think he said he’s fairly new to the game. But I think the premise is that Swiderski needs to step up and become an actual leader. He’s a DP (although he’s probably the lowest paid DP in the league) and he needs to start acting like it. His body language and frustration after McNeill didn’t force feed him a ball across the six (which had absolutely no shot of getting through, mind you) was disgusting. It’s time for Swiderski to grow into a leader, this isn’t the EPL, there’s absolutely no reason for him to act like Cristiano when his play has been average at best. -

Currently showing no lightning in the area, maybe they try to get this thing going again. Edit - Now it looks like the new system has moved right over Charlotte. -

Thinking this one is going to get postponed as it won’t be clear until around 12:30AM or so. Not sure the MLS wants this thing ending at 2:00AM. -

Swiderski’s body language after something doesn’t go his way is disgusting… frankly tired of him. -

This is going to be a tough matchup. Columbus is hot. Etienne, Zelarayan, Diaz, and new Crew member, Hernandez have been rolling on all cylinders. Cucho Hernandez has been especially good since coming over from the EPL side Watford. -

One nice thing about the late start is Charlotte is going to know exactly where they’ll stand in the next 20 minutes pending results from other games. -

HERE WE GO! Guess the lightning is far enough from the stadium to get this one going. Get your coffee, soda, vodka, whatever is going to keep you up… we’re in it for the long haul tonight. -

As I say this another strike was just detected at 7.79 miles away. So that pushes the start time back to around 10:30PM or so I would think. I’m thinking if there’s another strike then this one will be postponed. You hardly ever see the MLS postpone a game but I think rule of thumb is they like to have the games finished by 1AM at the latest. A 10:30PM start time is about as late as they could go. -

You’ll get a nice little storm when the games on. Haven’t seen a lighting strike detected in the past 15 minutes so if all holds clear maybe a 10:15PM start with the game ending right around 12:30AM -

Looks like they’ll be in the clear soon. Most recent lightning strike was 6.45 miles away from Charlotte, they use an 8 mile radius for player safety so we are nearly there. -

Yeah, most experts lauded Corral for his improved decision making from 2020 to 2021. Overall it’s just looking like it’ll come down to if he can read an NFL defense quick enough… something that Sam Darnold doesn’t appear to be able to do. -

Kid can sling it and looks to have all the typical tools you want in your QB, if he can learn to read NFL defenses at a high level then he could be special. -

Still delayed… I get fans are upset because they are stuck at the stadium but the MLS does not like to postpone matches unless they have to. Unless the radar pushes this game back to a start time of 10:30 or later, I’d expect the game to take place. -

Rightfully so, but it’s the only thing we can go off of right now except their previous year’s performance, both of which were poor. -
