From what I've read, the latest judge's ruling may have complicated things a little as the order of the depositions will apparently allow the DA to use testimony Watson must give under oath toward criminal charges. Word as far as team interest seems to be that the lawsuits may not scare teams right now but the potential criminal proceedings might.

Neal? Ekwonu? Cross? Penning? Linderbaum? Someone else? Who's the best of the bunch? And why?

Rodgers isn't going anywhere. Wilson probably isn't either. Wentz might not be. Sounds like Cousins is staying out. Watson? Unknown, but the price is apparently even higher than was thought. Garoppolo is gonna be sidelined till July. Sounds like Trubisky is gonna be on the move, but if he's one of the few the price could go up.

Note regarding the QB class...

We couldn't get a good enough trade down offer last year when we had Justin Fields, Jaycee Horn and Mac Jones as trade bait. I don't really see anybody available this year that approaches the quality needed to fetch two first rounders. It's possible, but I'd be pretty shocked.

... might not be all that active after all. The question then becomes whether or not this increases the possibility of us drafting one.

Pretty much. I had hoped that Tepper would be smart enough to know he needed to move on and get a real GM. Instead, he wound up calling Marty one of the best evaluators of college talent in football. You predicted I wouldn't get my way. Given that you're pretty much always wrong, I find that encouraging

I'll check it out. Thanks.

If you've got a link to the Tabor interview, I'd actually like to see it. FYI: It was reported behind the scenes that David Tepper wanted to make a "big splash" hire when he chose Matt Rhule. Just another testimony how flat out stupid it is to make football decisions for non-football reasons...

Hey, when you get something wrong like that, just blame it on autocorrect. Not that I've ever done that

I think the Bears probably felt like they needed to hire a bigger name. Honestly hate that idea though, because there's definitely a chance you miss out on a talented coach. Then when they get a head coaching job down the road and kill it, you look like a dunce. Mind you, that's not to say I don't believe in Matt Eberflus. Most analysts think he'll be a great head coach.

Jeremiah: Panthers "dead set" on drafting an offensive lineman
Mr. Scot replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yep. He's one of those quarterbacks that occasionally makes crazy big plays, but the downs in-between those big plays are just horrible. And even those big plays have tended to only show up against weaker competition. If all you see are the highlight reel plays, you think "Wow, we've gotta have this guy!" If you look at the whole game tape though, you say "Eeehhh...maybe not." You take a quarterback like that only when you believe you can coach the bad plays out of them. Even with the changes this season, I have a hard time being convinced that this staff (especially with Rhule in charge) is the group who should be entrusted with that job. Throw in that we've actually already got two quarterbacks who fit that description in PJ Walker and Sam Darnold. Would you really want a third? -

Kinda doubt it. A guy who needs a year or two (or more) to be ready to start doesn't help Matt Rhule right now. Thought occurred to me too. -
Posting links via mobile goes wrong sometimes. What I quoted is actually the full text of what they say about the Panthers, but if you do want to read the rest, try this... https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/one-critical-move-each-nfl-team-should-make-trading-russell-wilson-moving-on-from-zeke-elliott-on-to-do-list/
