  1. You were expecting him to say "I hated the idea but Matt wanted it"?
  2. You think Fitterer just chose on his own to extend one of Rhule's Temple guys over DJ Moore? Yeah, sure
  3. Trade back is Fitterer. The decision to go after Darnold started with Rhule and Phil Snow. And Robby Anderson is pretty obviously all Rhule.
  4. Okay, next explain the numerology of how picking him at six will affect the moon phase and alter the team's future.
  5. I get that, but I'd point out two things. One, rules and laws are limited by nature. They only serve to punish those who break them. In and of themselves, they don't change anyone's inner thoughts and ideas. And two, laws and rules don't spontaneously generate from some ethereal place of moral ideas. They begin in the hearts and minds of people who see something that's wrong and want to do something to change it. Basically, if you don't have people with right hearts first, you're not going to get the right laws.
  6. True, but Hamilton had other offers. I like Wilks, but it's not like a bunch of other NFL teams were looking to hire him. (he did interview with the Giants recently, if I recall correctly)
  7. I don't know whether Pickett is going to be a great pro quarterback or not. I definitely have some concerns, and at least for now wouldn't feel real comfortable about taking him #6 overall. But after spending the better part of a season mercilessly mocking Matt Rhule for being worried about the arm length of Brady Christensen and Rashawn Slater, I'm not about to turn around and say "Oh, but you definitely should be worried about the hand size of Kenny Pickett"
  8. If he followed his prior pattern of behavior, Smith would work to make the other coaches around him worse.
  9. There's a name I didn't expect to hear again. Wilks was very good in that role. Wouldn't mind this at all
  10. The Giants, and specifically Brian Daboll, have indicated they're committed to going forward with Daniel Jones. Texans? Possible, but nobody seems to be predicting it.
  11. I think the one good thing that will come from Rhule is that under his watch, we dumped Marty Hurney for Scott Fitterer and Dan Morgan. That's a net positive. Now, if Fitterer where to turn around and do the same thing to Matt Rhulerhule, the circle would be complete.
  12. He said that online too, but did clarify that it wasn't meant as an insult.
  13. I can't say I buy into the idea too much. Tepper obviously trusted Marty enough to let him run the head coaching search. (the one which hilariously picked a candidate who later shoved Marty out the door)
  14. I have hope that Campen will at least be a better coach on that front. Talent wise? Weeelll...
  15. Meanwhile... Marrone reportedly could be in line for the OC job or to coach OL. Oddly enough, we tried to hire current Saints OL Coach / then Assistant OL Coach Brendan Nugent when Rhule got here (he and Joe Brady went way back) but the Saints denied the request. Wonder how it would have changed things if they hadn't.
  16. No offense, but I'd take smart coaches training the team in a rundown schoolyard over dumb coaches training in the best facilities available ten times out of ten.
  17. Thing is, one of those evaluators he talked to could have been Fitterer, Morgan, Cole Spencer or even McAdoo. He did say all three came from teams that needed a quarterback.
  18. From the same article, here are the scouts comments about Willis... Malik Willis of Liberty didn't hurt his cause, either. Yes, his week was more up and down, but he is a bit more of a feast or famine prospect. And his highs seemed to be high enough to swirl up more interest. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder a bit, and Liberty isn't exactly the biggest of the big time settings for college football, but Willis more than held his own against the best in this draft class and he has the ability to do some things physically that the others cannot. "He did just enough to probably get someone to over-draft him," as one evaluator put it. "He can charm you with some of the things he can do. But I'm not totally sold." Another scout said: "He is a playmaker, but it's what happens between those big plays that makes you worry some." Given the construct of this group – with few if any sure things and questions abounding about all the prospects – Willis is likely to continue to rise. His athleticism will shine through at the combine and his pro day, and in the right hands he could be someone who blossoms a few years from now in a really big way. I like what I saw from the young man and hope he is lucky enough to be "over-drafted" (i.e. pushed up draft boards more because of the need at the position than by the individual's readiness to start) by a shrewd franchise that already has a stable veteran in place and isn't in a hurry to make the investment pay off on game day. Him landing in a Jordan Love-type scenario – minus Aaron Rodgers's ranting and ravings – would be ideal. But of course he can't control that.
  19. I have a hard time imagining someone trading up into the top five for Kenny Pickett.
  20. And Hurney... Speaking of which, some guy on Twitter told Josh Klein that there was a stipulation in the team's sale contract that Marty had to be kept for two years. Don't know if Twitter guy is in a position to know such things (kinda doubt it) but it's an interesting thought.
