The Athletic: “‘Hunger Games’ culture” at BOFA

Jim Caldwell Is the guy who got Frank into coaching. Don't buy for a minute that he would have anything to do with this. The most reasonable suspicion seems to fall on James Campen and Chris Tabor, though I would say others who had no background with Reich may well be involved also. -

Yesterday, I had to go to my optometrist and get an injection in my left eyeball. I think that was probably less painful than reading this story -

Tepper and Haslam haven't exactly done wonders for people in that role who want to be owners -

Unfortunately, it's not like "the person he was working for" has exactly been successful in his role. What I'll say in Frank's favor is that he really should have been allowed to hire anybody he wanted without interference. It might not have gone any better, but it would have been a much fairer approach. (and most likely a lot less toxic) I can't really put anything positive on people running to the owner. That's just childish behavior and certainly not something a professional does. -
Russini's story definitely isn't helping on that front

Sounds like it. Overcorrection definitely seems to be a David Tepper thing. -

I'm not a fan of betting on people who have no idea what they're doing getting lucky. -

Good point. I hadn't looked back at the histories yet. -

I think what ultimately doomed Frank is that he wanted to take a slow approach, and maybe wasn't as hard on players as he should have been. Now with that said, I don't see how anybody could win in an environment that encourages the kind of bullsh-t we're hearing about. -

Which is a shame because it's inevitable you're also going to be throwing out some good people along with the bad. But yeah... -

My thing would be leave that to the next head coach. It's a nice idea, but ownership meddling in the staff building process is part of why we are where we are now. -

I don't think there's any other option at this point... Seriously -

That's not at all how a professional adult operates though. If you have issues with somebody, you go to that person. Running to the boss just screams selfish, out for themselves person. -

I mean, the good side of it would be that with all this coming out, Tepper has to fix things now, right? Right? -

I like Campen and Tabor both, but with stuff like this, how could a new coach feel comfortable keeping them? Hell, how would anybody feel comfortable hiring them if this stuff is true? -
Who we should have drafted? (Sarcasm while crying)
Mr. Scot replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
With the stuff we're hearing from Dianna Russini today, I'm no longer sure it even matters who we drafted. Hell, we had a great offensive line built last year but look at things now. -

Similar feelings...and I was here through both 2001 and 2010. -

...which comes from thinking you're the smartest guy in the room and nobody can challenge you. Said previously the "talking to too many people" thing makes it seem like Tepper believes he knows what he's doing and maybe just needs occasional advice from people to confirm his thinking. This goes even further and makes it sound like he gets ideas from articles or videos he sees online. Lord almighty -

Or the "leverage" choice. There's going to need to be some really radical changes for us to be seen as an attractive job. -

Yeah, there's no choice now. My thing was I wanted to give Fitterer and Reich time to work together to build the team, but Reich is gone now and as it turns out, they weren't even working together anyway. This is worse than I even imagined (and I've got a pretty good imagination). -

I definitely don't think it's gonna be that simple, not with stuff like this coming out... This is a nightmare
