  1. I don't think sitting Bryce is an option. You can debate whether or not it should be, but I don't think it is. With a mini-bye this week, there would be an option to try to change the emphasis of the offense to power running since that's what our personnel are better suited for, but I don't know if that's going to happen.
  2. I don't think blaming Campen or Jefferson is fair or wise... but I do think it's possible. Reich probably doesn't, but if things continue I could see Thomas Brown going. GM I could see only if Fitterer were known to have overruled Reich on his quarterback choices, but the story there seems to point to Tepper. Stephen Holder even mentioned that "the whole league" knows it. The questions that arise then are 1) How do you fire someone if they only did what you told them, and 2) Who would want to come here knowing we have a meddling owner?
  3. Mentioned it elsewhere, but last season Brian Daboll made waves departing from typical NFL hiring practices bringing in guys he didn't know and had never worked with. Reich did the same in putting his staff together. Fast forward to today, and the Giants have been spiraling downward this season. So are we, though we started way sooner. I don't know that there's anything causative in that. Could just be coincidence, but it's there.
  4. I don't know if anything happens this soon but I said elsewhere I could see James Campen getting fired. It won't be fair because the issues are larger than him, but I could easily see it happening.
  5. I go back to Stephen Holder's comment that everyone around the league knows Tepper heavily influenced the decision to draft Bryce Young. That's likely to be a massive red flag.
  6. One other observation... Brian Daboll got everybody's attention last year by hiring outside of his circle. Reich followed suit. Daboll's Giants are floundering (badly) in his second year. Our team didn't wait that long. Is that coincidence or causative? Unknown, but it could be worth noting.
  7. No, It's not his fault. The scheme absolutely doesn't fit. Unfortunately, that probably won't stop him from getting fired.
  8. Speed would definitely help. We're running a West Coast style offense right now despite not really having much in the way of WCO style receivers. Haven't seen much adaptation on that front, and the play designs don't seem to be anything special either.
  9. One thing I forgot to mention: What was with all the platooning of runningbacks last night? I know they've done it to some level before but last night felt excessive.
  10. Stomach issues Haven't changed on that front. Still don't want Tepper doing anything at all without hiring a consultant. Firing Campen wouldn't require Tepper though. That'd be Reich's call. It would also be unfair, but...
  11. I don't think he's an abject idiot, but he simply does not understand football. That's not necessarily a problem...unless he thinks he does. I fear that's where we're at, and I don't know if there's a way out anytime soon. My biggest worry is the next stupid decision will come far sooner than anything good.
  12. If your biggest hope is that a guy who has no clue what he's doing (yet still insists on being hands on) will one day somehow luck into doing the right thing, you have no hope. Tepper needs to take himself completely out of the equation. The only guy I can see him trusting enough to do that with doesn't work here right now, but he could.
  13. He's also the person most responsible for the team being bad
  14. He had time to throw and way more clean pockets to throw from. We couldn't protect Young at all.
  15. Kudos to Smith-Marsette and the new guy, Strachan for showing up in the game. Not a lot of positives otherwise, but they gave us some nice moments.
  16. Said a while back we can't protect Young because we have no run game and a line that isn't suited to pass blocking a WCO. Fell victim to it again tonight, with the additional problem of a banged up defense being almost completely unable to generate any pass rush. Bagent had plenty of time to sit back and make reads. Young? Under duress from damn near start to finish. Icing on the cake? A horrible decision to go for a 59 yard field goal. Frank will have to own that one Still a chance to win some games if the defense gets healthy, mind you. But unless something major changes with the OL, the offense is largely kaput. Said it elsewhere: If there's a sacrificial lamb chosen, it could wind up being James Campen. He won't deserve it because he didn't choose to run a scheme that didn't fit the personnel we have, but I won't be surprised if he bears the blame. Bigger firings may be possible but I don't know if that happens. We'll see.
  17. Did exactly what I expected...ans it worked (ugh). OL is just not working in this scheme.
  18. Don't know that it will, but that was a horrible decision and he'll have to own it. If I were guessing on anyone getting fired now or by season's end, I'd probably say James Campen. He doesn't deserve it, though. It isn't his fault they decided to run an offensive scheme that his guys weren't suited for. But if you're looking for a scapegoat, my guess is it'll be him (probably his assistant too).
  19. Steve Smith was asked to speak about the Panthers on pregame...said a lot of the same things and cited this as a rebuilding year.
  20. Would you suggest that nothing can change from here on out? It's one thing to say that you don't think anything will change, but can you rightly tell me that it can't?
  21. We haven't even finished the first season. Lots of things can change down the stretch.
  22. Yep. Fowler is a columnist, not a reporter. Also worth noting that the verbal skirmish between the two of them was initiated by Tepper.
  23. Have said before my first choice would be Kevin Colbert. His resumé is impeccable and he's known to Tepper.
