Fitterer has over 20 years of experience as a football scout and personnel guy. Morgan has a little over 10. And playing the game doesn't necessarily make you a good talent scout. Those are different skill sets. Their respective areas are of expertise are different. The vast majority of Fitterer's experience is in college scouting. Morgan has spent more time on the pro scouting side of things. That's his concentration with the Panthers. Perhaps most worth noting though, Morgan credits Fitterer for basically teaching him everything he knows about being a personnel guy.

I've read some of her articles. She's a good writer. Sounds like her decision is personal, not necessarily related to the team.

Evidence of Tepper meddling in football operations?
Mr. Scot replied to TeppersEgos's topic in Carolina Panthers
During the 2021 draft video, Tepper was seen telling a staff member that was on the phone with another team what to say in regard to a trade proposal. That'd be the most direct item. -
Hell, Richardson is out for the season.

Also of note, Falcon beat writers have apparently taken a dislike to Arthur Smith...

And now... It only gets weirder from here
-
It was reported he'd be rejoining the Patriots practice squad, then he didn't. After all the weirdness that went on, I kinda doubt he's coming back.
-
I'm not gonna get most of 'em. My knowledge of Pokemon is limited to stuff I heard my stepson talk about when he was into that.
-
He has a good relationship with Kevin Colbert in Pittsburgh. Haven't looked at the Ravens front office recently.
-
Can't call it a W when he's not fired yet.

Related to the topic... One of the things I had forgotten to mention was that when asked about personnel, Frank Reich spoke in a little bit of a disconnected manner, saying that was a Scott Fitterer thing. (reminded me back when Dave Gettleman would answer depth chart stuff with "that's a Ron question") Granting that Fitterer has final say on the roster, it still struck me as an odd response when the team has previously said the roster is a collaborative approach.

Board's gonna be swimming in Pokemon jokes if he plays, isn't it?

FYI: My son in law is a huge UNC fan. Lady Cowboy Fan prefers Clemson.

For what it's worth, he used to be a damn good player. Don't know how good a fit he is for a 3-4 though. He always struck me as more of a traditional 4-3 Mike backer.
-
Given that he was accused of defrauding people, they may be calling him a lot of things. I'm guessing the team got enough of an explanation about that to feel comfortable signing him.

An unknown moment from Panther history...
