  1. Also, to anyone thinking Jim Caldwell might be an OC candidate... That could of course change if such an opportunity doesn't arise for him.
  2. To answer the question, this would be considered the Colts.
  3. I think at this point, we can fairly comfortably say he's not going to be part of the process.
  4. We're certainly approaching the season for it.
  5. That'd seem like a legitimate possibility...
  6. Being reported that Ryans is out for now
  7. There's talk he might go back to the Texans. (there's also talk he might avoid them entirely) They'll need to work something out with Mayo now to complete their Rooney Rule obligations, or they'll have to call someone else.
  8. Not clear. Are you saying he's more experienced than those guys or less experienced?
  9. Might be bullsh-t, but I think we knew something like this was a possibility when our draft position started dropping. And while I agree quarterback is our biggest need, would it really be wise to draft someone they didn't think was worth a first round pick just to take one?
  10. I would imagine Dan Morgan and perhaps Pat Stewart are part of the search as well.
  11. Be reported that McVay is sticking around after all
  12. It's the Reid question. His coaching tree is better than Belichicks, but it's also had some fairly notable failures.
  13. Buffalo took their head coach from the Panthers. It worked out okay.
  14. Any faith I have in Tepper would be based in the idea of him sitting back, keeping his trap shut and letting the football people make the call. If he does that, I'll feel okay. If not, then I'll worry
  15. That depends on the offense. If you do things the way we've typically done them, yeah I'd agree. But the Shanahan's approach makes a huge difference.
  16. I get that. The problem is you want to give him credit for the good without accepting any blame for the bad. And using your logic, there would be plenty of that. It also helps to understand that an NFL quarterback's primary job isn't to be the offense himself, it's to get the ball to playmakers and let them do the work. This is again why wins and losses are a team stat, not an individual stat.
  17. And yet you want to hold a runningback more responsible for losses than you do a quarterback.. Your position is totally inconsistent.
  18. As much as anything else what I walk away from that story with... Irsay is so frigging stupid
  19. Unfortunately, I've heard similar things said about other coaches from The Belichick tree. The ones who leave that nest just never seem to accomplish anything away from it.
  20. Nick Carboni talks to Indianapolis Star reporter Joel Erickson about Frank Reich... Among the things Erickson mentioned... - Colts owner Jim Irsay fired Reich specifically because he wanted to hire Jeff Saturday. Erickson says in fact that if Saturday had turned down the job, Irsay would not have fired Reich. - Erickson further states that the decision to bench Matt Ryan and elevate Sam Ehlinger wasn't made by Reich, but was mandated by Irsay. Ehlinger himself has since admitted that he wasn't really ready to start. - Asked about what Reich values in an offense, Erickson says he's"multiple". He wants to be able to attack multiple ways so that if one thing isn't working, they can go to something else. - Also said Reich is "beloved" by players and feels at least some of his failure is attributable to the front office failing to properly support him - And finally, in regard to the quarterback situations with the Colts, Erickson feels that Reich actually got a lot more out of what he was given than some others could have ... I'll say this: Reich may not get the head coaching job, but I'd absolutely love to have him on staff as an OC or in some capacity
  21. Comments about Johnson from Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell via Aaron Wilson's story about his Texans interview (Link) “I think a ton of Ben,” Lions coach Dan Campbell said during a press conference. “I’ve said it before, I just think he’s extremely bright. He’s creative, he’s organized, he’s a great communicator. I mean he’s got it, and I would do anything I can to help him. That’s the bottom line. Of course, I don’t want to lose him, but I’m not going to hold him back either. I would help him any way I can help him.” ... “Johnson is impressive, very sharp,” a source said. “He’s done a very nice job with that offense.” ... Johnson came to Detroit in 2019, as an offensive quality control coach, and was heavily involved in the passing game. He has worked with Campbell previously with the Dolphins. “I think Ben’s a rock star, man,” Campbell said. “He’s a young guy, but he’s kind of gone a little longer, harder road to get to where he’s at. He’s been around some really good coaches, now, some guys who have coached some pretty good quarterbacks. He understands quarterback play well.”
  22. Secondary coach if I remember correctly...
