An out of context fact used deliberately to try and bolster a weak argument... If you think that's a valid premise, then you have to be able to apply it elsewhere. For example, using that logic Brandon Staley is a better coach than both Mike Tomlin and Bill Belichick (among others) because he had a better record than they did last year. Quick hint: he's not Frank Reich has four years of head coaching experience and a winning record. Steve Wilks has essentially one and two thirds years and a losing record. You can say that Wilks was working for a terrible owner in Arizona and he was, but Reich was working for Jim Irsay. The real bottom line is that any attempt to try and paint Wilks as a superior coach based solely on last season is either deliberately misleading or just plain goofy.

I don't know that I would take Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe all that seriously as barometers of national feelings. Or... anything

When it comes time to evaluate prospects, it's nice to think we might finally have a head coach who knows a thing or two about what it takes to play the position.

Peter being drafted after I think it was Dom Anile (might have been Jack Bushofsky) telling Vonnie Holliday he'd run to the podium to draft him and dance on the table in celebration was an early "facepalm" moment in team history. Whichever it was, I know they made some lame, stupid sounding excuse when asked about it later.

Or let out of his contract, yeah. That's why getting Bradley would depend on who the Colts hire and whether they want him or their own DC. Bradley's been pretty good as a defensive guy, enough so that he wound up as a head coach once and has been talked about as an option other times. And he's significantly younger than Fangio so less likely to be a short term solution. Being familiar with Scott Fitterer and Dan Morgan from their time in Seattle probably doesn't hurt.

It's an uninformed one. Reich had three winning seasons out of four and went to the playoffs twice. He also ran an innovative offense that scored more points than you'd see in almost any Panther season. Calling that "not exciting" sounds silly.

Yeah, that's subjective. As a player, Benjamin contributed more than any of the guys I've mentioned.

Maybe Gus Bradley depending on what happens in Indianapolis.

Jason Peter was worthless. Rashard Anderson wasn't any better. And then there's Vernon Butler. Every one of them was worse than Benjamin.

Sorry but Benjamin isn't even the worst first round pick in Panthers history.
