  1. Could be considered a bit of an ass saving move by Chris Ballard...
  2. Disagree about special teams coaches. They can definitely have a major effect on a season. As to Kugler, he's Campen's protegé.
  3. Well truth be told, it doesn't sound like our emotional "fire everybody" contingent is going to get their wish either way. That means Fitterer and Morgan get a chance for at least a year to do their jobs without Matt Rhule's interference. I'm fine with that, definitely happier with that option than I am David Tepper building an entire regime from the ground up. That would scare the living sh-t out of me.
  4. I'd keep Tabor and Kugler. Outside of that, there's an argument to be made for Jeff Nixon. He has plenty of legitimate NFL experience away from Rhule .
  5. The remaining coaches I would consider "Rhule guys"... Linebackers Coach / Defensive Run Game Coordinator Mike Siravo served under Rhule for seven years at both Temple and Baylor in addition to one earlier year at Temple before following him to the Panthers Strength and Conditioning Coach Jeremy Scott is the third staff member to follow Rhule through all three of his most recent stops (counting Evan Cooper) over the past seven years before joining the Panthers Runningbacks Coach / Assistant Head Coach - Offense Jeff Nixon is a three year Baylor guy who followed Rhule to the Panthers (also one year with Rhule at Temple for a total of four years) but does have significant NFL coaching experience outside that connection Tight Ends Coach Kevin M Gilbride was on staff with Rhule three years at Temple and one with the Giants in the 2000s; his dad was also a Rhule colleague in New York; like Nixon he does have other NFL coaching experience Assistant Quarterbacks Coach / Pass Game Coordinator Matt Lombardi was with Rhule at Baylor for two recent years but was with the Dolphins at the time Rhule got the Panthers job Assistant Defensive Line Coach Terrance Knighton played for Rhule three years at Temple; never coached with him (or much at all really) till Carolina ... Quarterbacks Coach Sean Ryan and DC Al Holcomb each had a single year working with Rhule at previous stops, but Ryan's connection is relatively minimal and obviously Holcomb isn't going anywhere.
  6. I actually have answered that question before, but your typical response is along the lines of "no, he didn't because I say he didn't" so I'm not wasting my time. You won't accept anything that argues against your "Fitterer must be fired" opinion, even the report from well-connected sources that say he's "very safe". And you not getting emotional on here? Please
  7. "Director of Player Evaluation" or something like that. Ultimately I guess it was Rhule's way to have one of his people inside the scouting department. Person said (and the video bears this out) that Cooper had a fairly prominent role in the draft day discussions.
  8. Inserting him into the scouting department was kind of crazy.
  9. That's as good a response as I expected.
  10. They hold more than your opinion does. I understand that pisses you off but that's always the way it's going to be.
  11. We've said it before, but being an interim coach is a seriously tough path. You're coaching players you didn't choose with a staff you didn't hire to run systems you didn't create. It's a nearly impossible task. As far as Wilks, I believe there are plenty of people who would have liked to see him succeed, but I don't think too many people were predicting it.
  12. How would we know if he did? Airing those things out publicly would be unprofessional. There's only one guy who would be in a position to know these things. That guy fired Rhule but is keeping Fitterer.
  13. Did he have the power to overrule him? If he didn't, what else would you suggest he should have done?
  14. Or maybe I can just read Joe Person and Charles Robinson's reports or for that matter Matt Rhule's own words. I realize you don't think those things carry as much weight as your opinion but I feel kinda differently.
  15. Go back and read Person's story from The Athletic.
  16. A player who willingly participated in a tank would be cutting his own throat.
  17. Per Joe Person, he only "signed off" on acquiring Darnold (Mayfield too). Fitterer believes in drafting quarterbacks.
  18. It was reported there was a conversation between Joe Schoen and Dan Morgan before the picks were made. Make of that what you will...
  19. Holcomb wasn't the linebackers coach. That's Mike Siravo (a Rhule guy). Holcomb was the LB coach when we had Kuechly and Davis.
  20. Yes, based on recommendations from the scouting staff, GM and assistant GM. Rhule himself said he wasn't capable of doing the legwork that led up to the draft. That's why he didn't want an analytics based GM. (it's one of the few good things he did)
  21. Cooper was basically Rhule's right hand man. As was said before, I'm surprised he wasn't gone already.
