  1. Plus one of our biggest impediments to actual player development is now gone.
  2. Valid, but at least he does have some success to point to. Tepper? Not so much.
  3. If he was bidding against himself for Mayfield, I'd say he won. We got him for peanuts and the Browns ate most of his salary.
  4. If you really want to lure a great head coach, trading away some of our best assets isn't the way to do it.
  5. I'd tell them to go console themselves by asking dad about his bank balance and what they're getting for Christmas this year.
  6. The thing I've said before, and it's true, is if Tepper fires him after putting him in a situation where he didn't have final say, he'll be essentially blaming him for the actions of his boss. Other good GM candidates will notice that. I also don't think people should be counting on Dan Morgan given that he and Fitterer are close friends while neither Morgan nor Tepper has any ties to the other.
  7. I only had him as one. I can't edit that anymore but you can if you don't mind. Mentioned it elsewhere, the thing about Steichen is you have to watch what the Chargers do. He'd be a really popular choice there and it would be a natural fit for him. He does have one connection here that I know of, but that's a little bit awkward given that it's to our current interim head coach.
  8. Passing game coordinator. He was an OC at the college level but that was at a minor college and a while ago. And it's not so much leaving out the guys in their 50s (I listed Martindale and Anarumo) as it is there aren't that many.
  9. Yeah, right In reality, I'm as old school as they come. Hell, I championed Mike Zimmer! But I also know how things are these days. And Harbaugh would likely wind up failing for the same reason Zimmer did. That hardass approach just isn't working for this generation's pro athletes.
  10. Also has connections to both Fitterer and Morgan from their Seahawks days.
  11. How you feel about it doesn't mean jack sh-t. That's reality.
  12. Wilks has always been better at pressers than some of our other coaches.
  13. Fitterer doesn't guarantee Quinn. You could very easily see Fitterer stay as GM and Dorsey get the head coaching job. As it turns out, Fitterer also has ties to Payton but I don't see that happening for other reasons.
  14. Person confirmed today the quarterback decisions were directed by Rhule.
  15. In a prior thread, I compiled a list of the various red flags associated with some of the hot names seen in the media. I've expanded that a little to repost it here... Kind of on the young side (under 40) - Kellen Moore (34) - Mike LaFleur (35) - Mike Kafka (35) - Ben Johnson (36) - Shane Steichen (37) - Brian Callahan (38) - Demeco Ryans (38) - Jonathan Gannon (39) Kind of on the old side (near or over 60) - Leslie Frazier (63) - Rich Bisaccia (62) - Don Martindale (59) - Lou Anarumo (56) Kind of inexperienced (less than 10 years) - Jerod Mayo (4th season) - Kellen Moore (5th season) - Demeco Ryans (6th season) - Byron Leftwich (7th season) - Mike Kafka (7th season) Is it them or their quarterback? - Byron Leftwich (tom Brady) - Ken Dorsey (Josh Allen) - Brian Callahan (Joe Burrow) - Eric Bieniemy (Patrick Mahones) - Mike Kafka (Patrick Mahomes*) Is it them or their boss? - Byron Leftwich (Bruce Arians*) - Brian Callahan (Zac Taylor) - Eric Bieniemy (Andy Reid) - Mike Kafka (Andy Reid*) - Jerod Mayo (Bill Belichick) - Frank Smith (Mike McDaniel) First year as a coordinator: - Demeco Ryans - Ben Johnson - Frank Smith - Jonathan Gannon - Mike LaFleur Hasn't even been a coordinator yet: - Jerod Mayo Retreads who weren’t very good the first time: - Brian Flores - Dan Quinn - Raheem Morris - Leslie Frazier Would want absolute, unquestioned power: - Sean Payton - Jim Harbaugh Belichick Coaching Tree: - Brian Flores - Jerod Mayo Owners won't touch him with a 10 foot pole: - Eric Bieniemy Also as mentioned with Harbaugh, by the time he was in his fourth year, he was hated by his own players (same as Gruden). You can also add that Payton would require giving up significant draft value to get him. As noted previously, the one name that none of these red flags seem to apply to is Raiders DC Patrick Graham.
  16. That wasn't the only reason. If you look up old articles about him, you'll find there were significant complaints from players, especially veterans. They hated him. That's not really a surprise when you talk about authoritarian coaches, especially these days.
  17. So was Gruden...for a little while. Harbaugh has the same issues. It's why he's better off as a college coach. He can cycle through kids in three or four years before they get tired of his bullsh-t. Coaching paid adults is a little more complicated.
  18. Winning...and lots of it. That's going to be extremely hard to do with the hand he's been dealt.
  19. His "negotiations" with the Vikings would say otherwise.
  20. I don't think he was given a fair shot in Arizona. Honestly though, the situation he's in with the Panthers right now might be just as bad. I'll wait and see and I absolutely hope for the best for him, but he's got a really steep hill to climb.
  21. If you think of Matt Rhule was a nightmare of a control freak for people to work with, wait till you see Harbaugh. Hell, at least the players liked Rhule. By his fourth year at San Francisco, his own team started to hate him.
