Smart coaching helps...a lot. But I'm not sure even Sean Payton could accomplish much with PJ Walker as his QB.

The basic comparison is that he's a guy influencing major football decisions despite having pretty much zero football background. And toxic or not, it is fair to point out he played a big role in the hiring of Matt Rhule. Does make you wonder if Rhule's colossal failure has any effect on his status.

To be fair, the offense looked significantly different yesterday, and arguably even more so once Eason stepped in. I'd at least give him a look.

Someone recently compared Panthers exec Steven Drummond's influence in the Panthers organization to Easterby's in Houston (still not buying that) but Easterby himself is out.

Not really. We’ve only had one game out from under Matt Rhule’s control. That’s not enough of a sample size to evaluate much of anything properly. Of course, If all you really care about is projecting the entire future based on knee jerk reactions, then welp…

Agree to a point... I think Wilks will indeed be given a genuine shot to win the job, but Tepper's own statements that he would need to do "an incredible job" to get the permanent title don't inspire a whole lot of confidence in that happening. And realistically speaking, the situation he's been dropped into is...awful. As we've discussed, interim coaches have it rough regardless, but there's an argument to be made that this one is tougher than usual. Bottom Line: Wilks is most likely auditioning to be a defensive coordinator here or somewhere else next season. But hey, stranger things have happened.
