Tepper was gullible enough to hire him in the first place. He may also have been gullible enough to believe that Rhule's magical third year turnaround was actually going to happen.
-
We've had a few different versions of tinfoil hat type questions, but my answer is the same to all of them. There's no conspiracy. Rhule is just that bad.
-
I'm not convinced the defense is really all that hat good. We haven't really faced any great offenses yet.

Cheesy Announcer Voice: "Iiiiiiit's a restraining order!"

No delete option anymore but you can ask one of the mods to lock it.

There's a part of me that kind of feels sorry for him. He clearly isn't qualified for this job, but it's hard to imagine he knew that. What hurts though is that David Tepper, Marty Hurney and Steven Drummond all bought in to the idea that he was. Marty obviously won't be involved in our next head coaching search, but I'd say the other two also shouldn't be allowed anywhere near it.

I hope for your sake you don't have a drug test coming up anytime soon

@kungfoodude Didn't notice it, but you actually put "won't get fired" as a choice? You're a sadistic bastard, aren't you?
-
As an aside, it's still boggles my mind that there were people defending Rhule right up to the start of this season. (one or two even into the first few weeks)
-
What if Rhule pulled a Bobby Petrino? Not sure I see that happening but I suppose it's possible. (and might arguably be less embarrassing)
-
Under a competent NFL owner I might say this week, but a competent NFL owner probably would have fired him before this season started. With Tepper? Hard to say.

This is the worst panthers team in our history
Mr. Scot replied to philw5289's topic in Carolina Panthers
The current roster probably isn't the worst in history. The amalgam of the coaching staff under Matt Rhule over the last three seasons though? Probably the worst we've ever had. -
New Observer guy Mike Kaye liked Tre Boston's tweet (ouch)

Keeping him around is pointless. And for the record, we have two former head coaches and one who's previously been an interim head coach on the staff (Tabor, who would be my choice for interim) I'd add that it's probably better for Rhule as it gives him an early start on finding his next college job.

I wouldn't put money on that.
