  1. Losing a DB would have been more likely to hurt us against the pass than the run.
  2. After the brouhaha about Baker Mayfield's "fug them up" comments, there was this... And Browns fans were pissed off... again. Mayfield clarified however that the shirts, one of which features him running away from a (symbolic) dog house, we're not his idea. Bur he wishes they were Heh
  3. You know what's worse than Matt Rhule threads? Having Matt Rhule as your head coach
  4. To be fair, I don't exactly think Matt Rhule is gonna be getting a lot of looks for future NFL jobs regardless. Hell, he might just have done severe damage to the prospects of other college coaches looking for pro jobs.
  5. That's cool a lot of the time. Just not this time
  6. Well by that time, I might not be here so you guys can do whatever you feel like
  7. Yet... Granted we're not on a trajectory for anything like that kind of success now, but I'd like to at least leave it open as an option.
  8. Gotta say if he fires Rhule and stays hands off the coaching search that follows, I don't really care if Tepper goes on record as saying he's a football god and the smartest, wisest, handsomest guy in the history of human men. And again, I'm probably not alone in this corner.
  9. If you're happy about a team having one great unit or another while they're losing games, I'd say your priorities could probably use a tweak. As to evaluating units, I'm fine with it. But I do that by actually watching how they perform, not looking up where they rank. And as a good example of what's really important, see this from above. When that's where you're at "but we ranked 8th" doesn't really mean a damn thing.
  10. This is one where I defer to the Steelers.
  11. Just to be clear, you guys aren't doing anything like this, right?
  12. Geez, already? Also saw something that said Daviyon Nixon spent practice riding the bike. First I've seen about him having any issues.
  13. Are they winning or losing? If the answer is losing, then yes, they're that bad.
  14. The Lions and Johnson were kind of on the outs with each other for a while so I don't know about that one. Honestly, I'm just not that big a believer in retiring numbers in general. Retiring Mills number makes sense, of course. I'm just not that worried about whether we retire others or not. Equipment managers tend to hold back certain numbers for at least a few years in some cases. That's enough for me.
  15. I don't really give a sh-t. There are only two "rankings" that matter: Good...or bad. And the only question that really needs to be answered is whether the unit we put out on the field is better or worse than the one they're going against. That's not decided based on rankings.
  16. It's a look at where they run vs where we defend the best/worst. But if you feel like you can defend the idea that we had a good run defense last year, be my guest
  17. Don't know, but then stats aren't really my thing. I vaguely remember seeing that we gave up something like 4 yards per carry last year.
  18. I like Burns, but sad to say questioning his effectiveness against the run is a fair and valid criticism. I know the team's been trying to bulk him up pretty much since he was drafted.
  19. FYI: The tweet itself has disappeared but here are the charts he was using.
  20. A timely post by our buddy John Ellis... In summary, Cleveland's run game last season worked best going either wide left, off tackle right, off tackle left or wide right. Teams running against us tended to prefer going up the middle but had their best success off tackle / wide left or off tackle right. Sad to say this doesn't exactly constitute a ringing endorsement of Brian burns as a run defender last season Bottom line though? They run well in areas of the field where we've recently been weak.
  21. Sean Payton got a lot of yards off of those.
