There was a mention of it from one guy but I haven't seen anything about it since. We'd all be happy to see it, but the reality is that should have been done already. That said, Rhule stated that he wouldn't name a starter until after this week's game.
-
Butler's attitude killed his career here. He came in expecting to be a starter, then the guy he was drafted to replace re-upped and suddenly he was a backup. Didn't handle it well.
-
Unnecessary because we had actual NFL coaches...
-
There are a few I wouldn't mind keeping.
-
That guy's been a huge bust.
-
Nobody questioned that he would win the job. What annoys people is that being a rookie, he'd need as many snaps as possible to get up to speed in the pros at his chosen position. Putting him in a phony competition denies him beneficial reps (same as with Mayfield).

If you've got a YouTube account you can upload to then you can just post the link. (imagine it works for other video hosting sites also)

Panthers "Starting Center" Bozeman Injury Not Considered Serious
Mr. Scot replied to TheCasillas's topic in Carolina Panthers
To be fair, that could just be a mistake on his part. Hope it's true though... -
Can't say I do. You have any links to that?

If Elflein and Boseman aren't the answer

Hope he's right... -
If you should happen to find yourself needing a refresher on any of these guys... Ben McAdoo Sean Ryan Matt Lombardi Jeff Nixon Joe Dailey Kevin M Gilbride James Campen Robert Kugler Phil Snow Paul Pasqualoni Terrance Knighton Don Johnson Al Holcomb Mike Siravo Steve Wilks Evan Cooper Chris Tabor Ed Foley
-
Wrong Gilbride. Kevin M is his son. Original Kevin (i.e. the one who got socked by Buddy Ryan) is retired.

On the competition thing, I'm not a big fan of using psycho-manipulative type techniques when coaching adults. If they can't be motivated into doing a good job, I don't think they can be tricked into it. As far as Ekwonu, he definitely doesn't strike me as someone who needs any additional motivation. he could likely use some additional practice though. To be clear, the quarterback who isn't going to make the team is PJ Walker. Word from the radio was that he was being showcased in the hope of helping him find his next job once the Panthers cut him. That's just flat stupid. Helping PJ Walker find other NFL employment is absolutely not the Panthers responsibility. Getting Matt Corral up to speed is though, and seeing reps that could go to a guy with a future here wasted on a guy who doesn't is pretty much coaching malpractice. Bottom Line on Rhule: Two years of five win seasons where the second one actually looked even worse than the first is enough for me.

Granted, but the O-line was built to his specifications.

The Carolina Panthers coaching staff as it currently stands... Head Coach: Matt Rhule Offensive Coordinator: Ben McAdoo Quarterbacks Coach: Sean Ryan Pass Game Specialist: Matt Lombardi Assistant Head Coach, Offense / Runningbacks Coach: Jeff Nixon Wide Receivers Coach: Joe Dailey Tight Ends Coach: Kevin M Gilbride Offensive Line Coach: James Campen Assistant Offensive Line Coach: Robert Kugler Defensive Coordinator: Phil Snow Defensive Line Coach: Paul Pasqualoni Assistant Defensive Line Coach: Terrance Knighton Pass Rush Specialist: Don Johnson Assistant Head Coach, Defense: Al Holcomb Defensive Run Game Coordinator / Linebackers Coach: Mike Siravo Defensive Pass Game Coordinator / Secondary Coach: Steve Wilks Cornerbacks Coach: Evan Cooper Special Teams Coordinator: Chris Tabor Assistant Special Teams Coordinator: Ed Foley Some of these coaches we know from their performance with last year's team. Others we know via resumé or reputation, but haven't yet seen perform with the current iteration of the Panthers. My Question: Accepting that there's a lot we don't know, but based on what we do know at this point, what's your impression of some or all of the current assistants? FYI: Looking for opinions on assistant coaches only. The head coach is already being talked about in plenty of other topics.

Bozeman, one year only. Corbett, I think two or three.

I'm on board

Eh, I'm okay with it as long...as Marshawn lynch isn't driving -
Can shoguns be fired?

Related: Bozeman update... -
Yeah, I'd give us the edge as far as the starter. Once you get past that though, it's tougher to judge.
-
Ekwonu, Christensen, Bozeman, Corbett, Moton (next year's version of that might include Cade Mays somewhere along the interior)

I've said a thing or two in prior jobs that I could have (or arguably should have) been fired for. I thought McDaniels was probably the best choice in the last round of coaching interviews. I'm not absolutely certain he's going to be a great head coach, but I feel pretty comfortable saying then in the OC transition from him to Matt Patricia, there's going to be...a dropoff
