  1. If you look at John's Twitter timeline today, he's got an extended back and forth with some yahoo trying to tell him how Matt Rhule is going to turn it all around this season.
  2. I thought it was that he bought a stolen laptop, not that he stole one himself...
  3. Well remember, the GM when Bridgewater came here was Marty Hurney. General consensus has been that he was pretty well on board with Bridgewater as well. Of course, Marty was in "save my ass" mode at the time.
  4. Based on the stories that have been out there, it sounded like he wasn't all that interested in us. What's come out more recently is that the Browns gave our leadership guys (Rhule, Fitterer, probably McAdoo) permission to talk to Mayfield and sell him on the idea of coming to Carolina. Apparently, they succeeded.
  5. Also known as our QB decisions since Matt Rhule was named head coach...
  6. In the midst of discussions about Baker Mayfield, Joe Brady, Sam Darnold and others, this tidbit from John... So the coach who "couldn't wait to work with Cam Newton" was the main guy pushing for Teddy Bridgewater... Not the first time we've heard this suggested. If I remember correctly, Roaring Riot said something similar. I know the question of who was ultimately behind that decision has been pretty heavily discussed on this forum.
  7. My go-to answer at this point is that I don't know how good Mayfield's going to be in our system. Gantt acknowledges in his latest "Old Guy" Q&A that there'll be some adjustments going from his old scheme to McAdoo's WCO style offense. Will it fit him better? His skill set does seem at least decently suited to it. I guess we'll see.
  8. Does he get along with McAdoo? There's a pretty good argument to be made that the answer to this question matters more than whether or not he gets along with Rhule.
  9. In-between these, John got into a massive Twitter snit with a Matt Rhule defender. It was entertaining
  10. You never explained why you were talking about weeing in your prior post
  11. Possible. I'd like to think that Scott Fitterer isn't prone to being fooled by these sorts of things like Marty Hurney was though (behind the scenes draft video bolsters that argument). But yeah, you'd have to think of all people, Fitterer would have a pretty good idea whether his old Seattle colleagues were bluffing or not.
  12. Did he have issues with Lincoln Riley in Oklahoma? I missed it if he did, but admittedly I don't follow college football quite as closely as I do the pros. Regardless, I don't think anyone (including Baker himself) would debate against the notion that he's a cocky bastard. Like it was with Steve Smith, that's a big part of his successes...as well as his failures. The one piece of this article that kinda raised an eyebrow with me though was the story about Myles Garrett. If he too was "lashing out" over "a lack of adjustments", it makes me wonder a little.
  13. The Browns have for years been the very embodiment of what I call lottery pick mentality. "This ticket wasn't an instant winner? Okay, let's buy another one."
  14. In Cleveland? Probably not. It is also fair to point out that Cleveland is...Cleveland. To me though, the equally pertinent question is the position difference. Does that attitude work as well for a quarterback as it does a receiver? You can say it did for guys like Tom Brady, Dan Marino and others but then there's also guys like Ryan Leaf and Jeff George. With the difference again being...level of success. Either way, an attitude of competitiveness bordering on a--holishness was one of the things that people loved about Smith. But it also had to be acknowledged as a bit of a double-edged sword.
  15. Why am I suddenly hearing Chris Berman's voice in my head?
  16. Objectively speaking, I would say Mayfield is likely a lot more guaranteed to be a Panther through the end of 2022 than Anderson is. Trade rumors around Robbie aren't exactly a new thing.
  17. I'd agree... Or Jerry Richardson and Marty Hurney's "I don't know" conversation. Given the revelations that have come out since about Marty falling on the sword to save Rivera though, I'm no longer sure what to think about that story.
  18. Reality among the success stories is that the coach is the process.
  19. I did. In fact you may not realize this, but I can quote it. Here's your original... You'll note that the words "end of season" don't appear in this post. Here's my response... I can try again to explain what the phrase "this time last year" means, but I have a feeling you still won't get it. You tried to pivot later to "end of season" but your whole argument had fallen flat already So, bottom line, people didn't hate Matt Rhule and weren't calling for his head after year one. That didn't start until deep into year two when it became pretty obvious he was failing. The criticisms being leveled at him right now are thoroughly justified. The optimism from some like you who insist that year three will be different is...a stretch.
  20. Here's a pop quiz dude ... 1) What does the phrase "this time last year" mean? 2) One year back from today, what was the date? 3) Using the standard Gregorian Calendar, which comes earlier between the month of July and the month of November? ... I'd like to hope that answering those questions might clear up for you just how dumb your argument is, but your history tells me it might not so I'll see if I can spell it out This time last year, Matt Rhule wasn't considered to be on the hot seat and there wasn't a huge Huddle movement calling for him to be fired. His first season had been about what we expected, even better for some, and so most of us we're cautiously optimistic about his second season. And then his second season actually happened...and was terriable. Thus, here we are...
  21. Robbie is probably a PR guy's nightmare.
  22. And some embarrassment might be avoided by checking the dates on those stories Thanks, dude. Best laugh I've had all day (so far, at least)
