It's a lateral move to a worse situation. Not sure why he'd want that. To be clear though, I don't have a problem with going after O'Connell. I do, however, think there are better candidates, and guys for whom this would be a promotion rather than a lateral move. We're apparently not reaching out to those guys, at least not yet.

It's not so much a commentary on Gruden as it is a question of where we're looking. (see the second paragraph)

Maybe. Not guaranteed though, and it's not hard to imagine Tepper being a guy who sees himself as above the rules. But yeah, just fire him already. What's the point? Also, as mentioned above, firing him gives you access to a lot better choices than these guys.

Are those really guys you'd want as your head coach, though? O'Connell maybe but if you wanna go tht route there are probably better options. One other thing: I believe bumping an interim to a full time job allows you to skirt the Rooney Rule. Is that something Tepper wants to do? Regardless, if these guys represent Tepper's head coaching choices, I'm gonna echo that call that he needs to hire an outside consultant (or let Fitterer and Morgan handle that process).

So our targets are a guy who's unemployed, a college OC and a guy who's already an NFL OC on a much better team... No rising star quarterback coaches or other position coaches, i.e. the type that usually get interviewed for this sort of gig... Uuummm

Tepper is keeping Rhule when people want him gone even worse than they did Rivera. And honestly, if you were say, a Jaguars fan, would even the best facilities in the world be enough to keep you interested if the level of play never rose above where it is now?

Off the field? Yeah. On the field? Not so much.

Are there better? Yeah, but I've never found him that bad. Certainly not deserving of what he gets here.

Rivera has his shortcomings, but Hurney should have been dumped first. Actually, Hurney never should have been brought back to begin with, but hey...

These sound like someone other than Matt Rhule's idea. For O'Connell, this would be a lateral move since he's already an OC. He'd have to be out of contract or have permission. Either way going from the Rams to the Panthers with no advancement sounds weird. Could they be being told it might turn into a head coaching job? Not by Rhule but yeah. That'd leave you with a staff full of Rhule loyalists though (not so sure that works).
