I don't think Rhule wants Newton back. I'd add the fact that it was Rhule who had the conversation with him rather than Fitterer tells me he's not likely joining up again.

To keep in touch, I suppose. Fitterer seems to be pretty media friendly. Also factor in that there were definitely questions to answer about free agency and such and where we are at this point. Technically there were also questions to ask about Watson but they weren't going to answer them.

That's a nice thought, but you can't. Rhule still has final say on roster decisions, including draft picks.

When they go to negotiate, I'd expect them to offer the #7 before they'd offer the #5. But again, that's negotiation.

Rodgers isn't exactly a statue athletically speaking, but you don't really see him run all that much anymore. I think he might have been more willing to do it when he was younger, but again he's such a great passer he rarely needs to.

I don't agree that this is that kind of offer. Knowing how our front office works, I do expect them to at least call and talk to the Giants about this. What kind of offer they'd make? Unknown.

I don't define it by stats. I define it by whether or not it's something you have to game plan for. Young, for example, didn't need to run all that often because he was such an exceptional passer. But when he did take off, look out.

Last I heard they've mostly patched up their issues. You never know what's going on behind the scenes, of course.

That's kind of what I'm hoping for but I don't expect it either. Mind you, they effectively smokescreened interest in a quarterback last year, so it's at least possible.

I wouldn't expect anybody in their position to take the first offer, but I would expect them to negotiate.

The Panthers don't think this year's class is inferior. And I believe they are set on taking a quarterback this year. It's not what I want to do either, but it seems to be what they want.

Running Quarterbacks: quarterbacks who can run but are lousy to mediocre passers (example: Michael Vick) Mobile Quarterbacks: quarterbacks who are capable of scrambling to set up passes but aren't necessarily run threats that you have to game plan against (example: Russell Wilson) Dual Threats: quarterbacks that are capable of being a run threat while also being great passers (example: Steve Young) Pocket Passers: quarterbacks who rarely run unless they need to, but aren't necessarily immobile (example: Tom Brady)

It's the offer I'd open with at least. If they don't like that, then you negotiate. And as mentioned, you have Dan Morgan be the one that makes the call so that negotiation is happening between old friends.

Some teams don't use that kind of chart at all, but you can negotiate the package. And again, I think negotiations being between two friends and former colleagues does make a difference.

The possibility that other teams might jump on the offer and trade ahead of us is an additional reason for us to look into it.
