  1. Don't know if they'll improve that much, but there is one good thing I think you can say about Denver. Elway deserves praise for being willing to acknowledge that he was the problem. People at that level generally have such huge egos that they won't allow any such thoughts, but Elway did. Will it get better under Paton? Unknown, but it sure as hell wasn't getting better under Elway.
  2. So you can trade him to Denver for a sixth rounder next year? I don't know if that's "the answer" but that is what happened.
  3. They have us picking 9th? Just one spot lower than this year? That'd suck
  4. Listened to the full interview with Voth, good stuff. Most interesting thing to me is around the middle where he mentioned there being confusion in the front office last season regarding how things were aligned, who was in charge, etc. He specifically highlights the question, "Why are you picking up a quarterback to help you win now when you're talking about a long-term build?" That fits in with what we've heard before about last year.
  5. Remember when we were supposed to be looking for an Assistant GM that was going to work under Marty Hurney for a few years and be groomed by Marty to be his replacement? Those were good times, huh?
  6. If that's what he really wanted, he could have gone with them this past year.
  7. Poles isn't a candidate at this point. It's speculated that he will be, but he's not yet. Either way though, it can be quite objectively said that Morgan has the best resumé of the bunch. Plenty of people believe he'll be a GM himself before too long.
  8. Based on his bio, I'd say Cunningham is legitimately qualified regardless of other factors. Still think Morgan has the inside track though.
  9. The only place Luke's going is fishing.
  10. Possible. Heck, Morgan didn't jump straight back into football but he wound up there. I do think it's very likely though that Kuechly might be burned out. The workaholic types frequently do, and Luke was a super workaholic. He's been busting his ass for the past what, 12 years now? Some guys just get to a point where they don't love what they do as much as they used to.
  11. Yeah, that's pretty consistent with what we've heard before about the Panthers under Richardson. He definitely valued loyalty over ability, and you saw where that got us. If others are vouching for Allen, I'm okay. But I also wouldn't be terribly surprised if he, Jeff Morrow or both wound up replaced. Morrow especially because he and Pat Stewart are basically doing the same job. And I'd like to think we're gonna put somebody solely in charge of college scouting again.
  12. He reportedly resigned back before free agency even started. I don't really think there's any intrigue to it, honestly. He probably just needs a break.
  13. As a backup or a starter? If you're talking about him as a backup, that's reasonable. Starter? Lord, no!
  14. Here' our personnel department as it was up till today. General Manager - Scott Fitterer Assistant GM - None (TBD) Executive Director of Player Personnel - Jeff Morrow Director of Player Personnel - Pat Stewart Director of Pro Personnel - Matt Allen (Jerry Richardson's grandson) Assistant Director of Pro Personnel - Rob Hanrahan Pro Scout - James Blanchard Pro Scout - Luke Kuechly (resigned) College Scout - Jeff Beathard (Bobby's grandson) College Scout - Jonathan Fields College Scout - Robert Haines College Scout - Mike Martin (getting a promotion with the Lions) College Scout - Eli Montague College Scout - Joel Patten BLESTO Scout - Lee McNeil If you're wondering why we have a Director of Player Personnel and an Executive Director of Player Personnel, good question. I could see that changing. Likewise, if you're wondering why we have no Director or assistant Director of College Scouting, no idea but I won't be surprised if that changes also.
  15. The Assistant GM hire is probably not going to be the only change made to the staff.
  16. I got stuck for months with a Bucs avatar and a signature that said The Notebook was my favorite movie.
  17. And you know Luke would never half ass it. Lord knows he's been consumed by football for a pretty good portion of his life. A break might not be a bad idea.
  18. Hate to sound cynical, but as a minority candidate, Cunningham would satisfy the Rooney Rule. The league does now require that senior executive positions fall under the rule as well as head coaching jobs.
  19. David Newton is reporting that this actually happened before free agency started. It has been confirmed that it's not health related.
  20. The majority of Cunningham's experience has been with the Ravens. That's a plus. The Eagles made him their Director of College Scouting in 2017. He was promoted to Assistant Director of Player Personnel two years later. All that said, I'd be shocked out of my socks if the job went to anybody but Morgan. He and Fitterer have too much history. Morgan considers him a friend and a mentor.
