    Richardson was also reported to have told the team that Randy Moss was off the draft board. Sorry, but any suggestion that listening to Jerry Richardson would have been a good idea is off the mark.

    I'm not so sure I like the idea of the Falcons getting a sh-tload of picks because I think Fontenot is a lot smarter GM than they've had before.

    There were indeed reports that after meeting with McCaffrey, Richardson said he was the guy.

    Not really. Oddly enough, the guy who was the biggest advocate for Newton behind the scenes wound up being the guy that wound up with a non-disclosure agreement thanks to Richardson using a racial slur on him.

    According to Michael Silver, it was originally going to be a seventh. The Broncos bumped it up to a sixth to convince the Panthers to pay part of his salary.

    I recognize that anything is possible. Have said repeatedly that I don't know what's going to happen. I'm actually guaranteed to be right about this because, well...I don't.

    From Gantt's article about the Bridgewater trade... The Panthers cleared the way for new quarterback Sam Darnold to work without any kind of cloud over his head or doubt about his status, trading incumbent starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to the Broncos for a 2021 sixth-round pick.

    I know some people have suggested that either Lance or Fields could be Newton 2.0. I've said repeatedly that people with those ideas don't properly recall just how unique Newton really was.

    Several teams expressed interest in trading for Darnold early. The vast majority of them weren't patient enough to wait on the Jets though. The fact that we were makes it harder for me to buy in on the idea that we have a low opinion of him.

    Valid. Honestly though, I just look at it as a bad quarterback being gone and us getting something back for him is borderline miraculous.

    Circling back again to saying this is year one of the rebuild rather than year two.

    I'm a little more pragmatic on the topic of team building. If you get it wrong, you get it wrong. Good intentions don't mean sh-t. Lord knows Marty Hurney had plenty of good intentions. Doesn't make me feel any better about the fact that he sucked.
