  1. That Bill Voth retweeted McCaffrey's response probably doesn't say good things about how Newton is viewed inside the building.
  2. I wouldn't hold my breath on that.
  3. Our buddy Ellis has been arguing just the opposite. Me? I don't know. It's valid to say he had flashes last year but overall looked pretty bad. He might still be able to play but sixteen games as a starter is a rough road.
  4. I'm not sure it matters. The Texans are pretty well dug in on their front.
  5. You can exchange as many ideas as you want. If some of them happen to be bad ideas though, don't be surprised if they get knocked.
  6. At this point, you can make as many offers as you want for Watson, but the Texans aren't listening to any of them. Doesn't sound like they'll be changing their mind anytime soon either. Probably wiser to pursue other avenues right now.
  7. Your first sentence is very accurate.
  8. Well, here's a story people are really gonna love... On a recent episode of “Patriots Talk Podcast” with Tom E. Curran, former New England safety Rodney Harrison (now an NBC analyst) vehemently disagreed with the idea of Newton getting a second season with the Patriots. “That would be the worst decision [Belichick] has ever made,” said Harrison. “Because now you’re not being fair to your team. When I saw what I saw with Cam, every time I saw Cam play pretty much I was hurt. Because I was a guy that believed in Cam, and when you see him drop back and he continues to throw the ball into the ground, throw it five feet or five yards above somebody else, you’re like, ‘What are you doing, Cam?’ “Trust me, we’re all fans,” Harrison added. “And yeah we’re Patriot fans, but we’re football fans. We want to see these young men do well in their lives and in their livelihood. And so everybody was sitting back rooting for Cam. “But yeah I would say this: You have to find a quarterback,” Harrison explained. “It would be a terrible mistake for Bill Belichick to bring Cam back because Cam can’t play football anymore. He just can’t play quarterback in the National Football League.” Rodney Harrison says it would be a terrible mistake for the Patriots to bring Cam Newton back
  9. The phrase "never meet your heroes" is very good advice.
  10. If I recall correctly, he was a NASCAR reporter prior to this. He doesn't even seem to know jack about football. I know back when we were making a run, they assigned a couple of female reporters to Panthers coverage. One, I think, was Josina Anderson. I forget the other but I don't think she's with ESPN anymore, whoever she was (just a vague sense). I get not putting huge resources into covering the Panthers. To be fair, what have we done to merit that? Still, I'd at least like to believe we deserve better than a guy that doesn't even know football.
  11. "Young and on a cheap contract" probably describes a dozen or so backup QBs around the league plus a few starters. Frankly, it's a pretty low standard.
  12. I doubt his being white has anything to do with it. ESPN generally not giving a sh-t about the Panthers probably has a lot to do with it, though. I do remember back in 2015, they had other reporters covering us for a while, but the following year it was back to just Newton.
  13. Newton's really pissing some people off of late. When he did his presser, Fitterer said up front he wasn't gonna be answering questions about particular players. Something like three questions in, Newton asks about "a certain quarterback in Houston".
  14. I mean heck, I agree. Let's build a strong line to protect our quarterback. We can start by drafting Greg Little to be our left tackle.
  15. If I'm gonna trade for him, I need a reason. "He might be good" isn't a reason.
  16. I can picture the OL coach throwing his headset. I'd love to ask Scott Fitterer what he thought but he probably doesn't wanna talk about it.
  17. No, I'm thinking of Love, and he's definitely not done anything that makes me think he's worth trading for.
  18. That'd make sense. Was at work once when a female coworker started singing that song. I looked at her and said "no" and a couple of colleagues thanked me
  19. Eh, sure. Why not? Yeah, caught that. Not a fan of that song.
  20. Yeah, it's basically a "no comment" (which is wise). As far as the larger context of prior comments, maybe that's valid but I'm not gonna put a load of effort beyond a basic internet search into finding it.
  21. Given. As to those actual comments, the only thing I've been able to find on it is an end of season interview on the team site that keeps resetting itself when I try to watch it, so no idea on the context.
  22. I'm not sure I'd even trade a 6th rounder for him. He was overdrafted and looked so bad that he lost out on the backup position to a guy who wasn't drafted at all.
