  1. I remember the sleep I lost Health concerns and such have backed me off of writing as much as I used to. Only completed one coaching candidate profile this time around. It was for Frank Reich Will say at least that I probably put more effort into that one than I have any written before. Hopefully the need for things of that type doesn't arise again anytime soon because I might be too tired to do it On the flipside though, love what you're doing with the page, your radio job and the college broadcast opportunities you've had. You worked hard for it and you deserve it, so kudos from me... ... bootlicker
  2. In my defense, it's been a rough couple of days
  3. I'll refrain from telling you what I was wearing when I wrote it 🫥
  4. Early season football has always been sloppy, but I think it's gotten even sloppier since the latest CBA relaxed the practice rules. That's true even for established franchises. When you throw in a group that's just getting started like ours, well... FYI John, my take on the game was here: Post Mortem: Game 2 Did one for the first game also. Feel free to take a look and tell me whether or not I'm full of sh-t
  5. First game against a county rival my sophomore year: We won, then as our coach had us do after every game, we knelt for a team prayer. Once we said "amen" and looked up, we saw that the other team had surrounded us and were all standing there with their fists clenched Coaches managed to diffuse the situation but I remember thinking, "Seriously guys, you're gonna surround a bunch of people praying?"
  6. And this from DeShawn Williams... What the hell, people?
  7. I will throw in one other comment I appreciated...
  8. Who's getting open, where on the field they're getting open, how far downfield they are, whether the passers were caught and how many yards were gained after the catch and any number of other things you could throw in would pretty much all be receiver metrics. As a quarterback measure though, what it tells us is that when they're open, he's getting then the ball in a spot where they can catch it.
  9. Saints reporter Nick Underhill had this... That tells us where Thomas was headed and why he was going there, but Underhill indicated he didn't have any more details than that.
  10. They didn't include the raw numbers (would have been nice if they had) but based on the percentage calculation, there would have to have been at least five since a score of 80% would mean a factor of four out of five at the very least. NFL.com has Young on record as having thrown a total of 71 passes in the first two games. And while I know our receivers don't seem to be doing great job of getting open, I'm going to guess there have been more than five open windows out of that total.
  11. Not what they're measuring. They took all of the throws that he made and calculated how many of them were to open windows. The answer was one of the lowest in the league. though not actually the lowest if I read the chart correctly (looks like there was one lower). That was the horizontal value of the vertex. The vertical was how accurate his throws were to those open windows when they were available. That's where he scored the highest in the league, even higher than guys like Mahomes and Lawrence. Calculating weather he missed open windows would have required a different stat criteria, basically counting every offensive pass play regardless of whether there was a throw or not. That's not what the data covers. What it basically boils down to is that he got the second fewest opportunities to throw to an open receiver but he made the best job throws when they opportunity was there.
  12. John's a great source for deeper analysis than you'll get from most reporters.
  13. I'm gonna need some context to this... Then again, maybe not
  14. I'd still likely guess benched, but Reich didn't clarify.
  15. Hot takes are generally dumb takes. You've got a bunch who are going to throw out panic takes at the first sign of adversity just so if things actually do turn out bad they can say they said it first. Mind you, if the takes wind up looking stupid they'll either act like they never said them or go "oh, I'm happy to be proven wrong". Yeah sure Nuance, patience and perspective aren't popular ideas on the Internet.
  16. I'd give that title to Rivera over Fox, honestly. But yeah, it's not saying much.
  17. We've still got some folks on here who want Newton back or think we need another version of him to be any good. Reality though? There aren't a whole lot of Cam Newtons out there. Newton was way more unique than a lot of folks give him credit for. The guy who people thought was this year's version of him has already been hurt in each of his first two games, with the second injury being a concussion. What's also still true is that passing rules the NFL, not running. If your quarterback can't read a defense and be an effective passer, it doesn't matter if he's the greatest runner in the world. You're not going to win a Super Bowl with a guy like that. If you believe we can, then maybe you should push the idea of trading for Taysom Hill and making him our franchise quarterback instead
  18. Not talking about your reaction when I say that... Some of the others on here though
  19. Good analysis. My biggest read off of that final drive is the improvement from last week. Against the Falcons, Young didn't look comfortable running an up tempo offense at all. This week, he handled it quite well. (and no, I don't give a sh-t if it was against prevent)
  20. Appreciated, though I'd probably say I don't really have a full "assessment" yet. It is still just two games. As much as anything, I just disagree with the emotional "everything sucks" overreactions I'm seeing. In truth, not everything sucks. There were actually good things to be seen in the games played so far. And that at least is encouraging.
  21. Yes we did. We had three scoring drives before the final one. Those field goals count too. As to the final TD, the Saints may have been going prevent, but once we got close they realized they'd screwed up and quickly adjusted. Even with that though, we still scored on a very good play by Young. That was, as mentioned, the first touchdown that the Saints defense had given up this year. They held the Titans to field goals only. More to the point though, Young actually looked like he knew what he was doing that drive. In week one, he didn't look good running the up tempo attack at all. Hence, improvement.
  22. You shouldn't be. This is basically panicked decision making.
