    Fair point They've also been known to have a turbulent relationship with some of those coaches after they're hired.

    That's one reason why I noted it. Kleiman is generally a decent source. I'd like to think he has information outside of just Cowherd, but if so he didn't mention it.

    This ownership has technically only hired one, and that was under the guidance of Marty Hurney and Steven Drummond. At least this time, there are some actual football people helping guide the search.

    I don't know that anybody else interviewed Andy Reid when he got the Eagles job. He wasn't even a coordinator at the time. Hell, I'm not sure anybody besides them interviewed Sirianni last year either. If there's one thing the Eagles have shown they know how to do, it's hiring head coaches.

    Giving a minority candidate less than a standard coaching deal? I'm guessing the lawyers for Wilks and Brian Flores would probably have something to say about that.

    From what I've read, three to four year contracts tend to be pretty standard for new head coaches.

    That sounds more like he's making a prediction than a report. Having it come in the middle of a testy exchange doesn't help.

    You're referring to the guy who thought Matt Rhule was a viable option? At least Wilks has an NFL background and some good leadership qualities.

    Depends on what he wants... Coaches, even young ones, generally get to hire their own staff. Some balk at the idea of having any part of it chosen for them. The team might suggest certain coaches, but if they insist on them, that's where it gets tricky.

    Depends on the coach... It worked with Carroll, but Carroll's not a control freak. Obviously, it didn't work with Rhule. Beyond that, there aren't a whole lot of teams using that model anymore.
