  1. I'd agree. Person has talked about there being misinformation out there. A lot of it actually seems to be coming from Payton himself.
  2. Nobody "backed it off". Albright said they were meeting Wednesday and Duncan clarified.
  3. Also reportedly scheduled an interview with the Cardinals. General belief though is that the Cardinals might be more interested in Brian Flores.
  4. Everybody else's schedule is free. If they really want Steichen, they're going to have to be patient.
  5. Also some context to the Broncos... So apparently he's flying out to Denver on his own initiative even though they don't have a meeting scheduled...yet.
  6. Think that's kind of a sh-tty thing to do, honestly.
  7. From Albert Breer... The longer things drag out with Payton, I think the more likely it becomes that he stays with Fox instead of coaching in 2023. Geography (meaning close to Los Angeles) and quarterback are most important to him, on top of the money, and I’m not sure there’s a place that sufficiently checks the box for him right now.
  8. They also quoted a previous tweet by Mark Masske that has since been debunked by Tom Pelissero, so...no.
  9. It's more about their own social media seemingly calling out Prescott.
  10. Apparently it's legit. That's...rough.
  11. They're quoting the Mark Masske tweet that Tom Pelissero debunked. That article also names Denver as "the leader in the clubhouse".
  12. Multiple other sources have agreed Payton wants full control, including his own people. Jeff Ireland is one of the names that's been thrown in as a likely GM option.
  13. My preference has long been to look for experienced coordinators and assistants, guys like Don Martindale, Rich Bisaccia and the like. We're not going that route. The choice is between young offensive assistants, a few older options (Wilks, Reich, Caldwell) and Payton. I would be fine with Reich. I could get behind Wilks if he has the right offensive staff (like Reich or even potentially Caldwell). Among the young crowd, I liked Johnson. I like Steichen. I'm not a big fan of Dorsey. Moore just hasn't been coaching long enough. Honestly, Kafka probably hasn't either but he does have some good qualities. There's honestly a lot to like about Ejiro Evero but I don't think we're going defense. Brian Callahan probably would have been a decent option but we haven't called about him. Payton? Already stated my objections to him. Too much to give up and full control is a negative for me. At this point, don't know who we end up with. There are guys I like better than others, but Payton is probably my only firm "no".
  14. What we're dealing with in reality is unicorns. The Huddle seems to chase them on damn near an annual basis. "If we trade for Deshaun Watson, we're in the Super Bowl." "If we bring Cam back, we're gonna start winning again." "We're just a quarterback away from being contenders." And the latest, "Just hire Sean Payton, give him the keys and prepare for Super Bowl glory." All we got to do is get that one guy, and everything's gonna be fine. Except it never is, not even for the team that gets "that guy" when we don't. It's never going to be that simple, and people who think it is are dreaming.
  15. Carr Is the only one of that group I'd be willing to look at.
