Panthers receive permission to interview Sean Payton
Mr. Scot replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
-
Did not call us because It was already established we weren't hiring him...
-
Interviews with employed coaches or coaches under contract were only allowed to be virtual up to the 17th. Johnson is interviewing in person on Wednesday.
-
Wilson's season in Denver was a clown take on his career.
-
Confirmed by both the president of the university and the coach himself... So yeah, we can put this idea to bed.
-
Yeah...that doesn't actually mean that the job is his if he wants it, or that he wants it.
-
Sorry, Harbaugh fans.
-
The talk about his future prospects starts about 25 minutes in. Nothing in it sounds specific to the Panthers. Hell, I'm not even sure we had asked permission to interview him at the time that was filmed. His daughter doesn't mention us when talking about his upcoming interviews.p

Cards pick a GM... (interviewed with us when we hired Fitterer)
-
Bronco fans would probably like to see Russ playing here too.
-
I'm not convinced of either of those things.

Could anything make you quit the team?
Mr. Scot replied to Brooklyn 3.0's topic in Carolina Panthers
As far as what would make me quit, it'd have to be something bigger than football. Ricky mentioned the team embracing Deshaun Watson. That's the sort of thing. Being bad at football is one thing. Being bad people is another. -

As someone with experience mixing these two elements, I can wholeheartedly second this statement. -
Might not be a smokescreen for us.

Johnson interviews Wednesday, plus one more Rooney interview is necessary.

Vic Fangio, Brian Daboll and a new approach to staff building
Mr. Scot replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
And yes, this could be relevant if we hire a younger coach like Ben Johnson, Shane Steichen or one of the others. -
Monken was OC for the Browns in 2019 alongside DC Steve Wilks.
-
I don't think Fangio's interview has anything to do with luring Payton, Harbaugh or anyone else. Nor does it need to. Fangio as a DC is worth checking into regardless of who your head coach is.
-
Couple of guys from the older crowd are getting a shot... In season, there was pretty heavy speculation that Dan Quinn's relationship with our primary front office guys might get him an interview here, but that didn't happen.

Yeah, well... -
I'm not sure you wanna cite Russ as your primary example at this point

For those of you who think we are years away from competing
Mr. Scot replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
The Giants are just one example. Basic point is that it doesn't take plan modeled after the way Jay-Z built Rome in seven years. -
Detroit Fans "Ben Johnson is Terrible, Stay Away"
Mr. Scot replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
Don't blame 'em for trying though. Maybe we should've done something similar with Sean McDermott
