NFL: Titans part ways with GM Jon Robinson
Mr. Scot replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Just extended him this past February... -
So apparently you can transfer twice...
-
His next tweet says the 49ers are holding a tryout for Colin Kaepernick, so I'm gonna say yeah
-
Guessing we'll find out within the next two hours or so...

Anthony Richardson declares for the draft
Mr. Scot replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
Valid. To be clear, you don't have to be the next Andrew Luck. You just have to be able to play at a high level in the NFL. And the reality is that most of the guys who are drafted this year won't live up to that description. And yes, that could very easily include guys drafted in the first round. (it frequently does) -
Having Kyle Shanahan rather than having Matt Rhule helps too

Don't really imagine that being a problem. He's not the type. Hell, the guy worked under Matt Rhule -

I'm not for firing Fitterer, but I wouldn't mind adding Robinson to our front office. From The Athletic (link) Robinson is the only general manger in franchise history to oversee six consecutive winning seasons. Tennessee earned playoff berths in four of the past five seasons. The Titans advanced to the 2019 AFC Championship game, compiled consecutive AFC South titles the past two seasons and earned the AFC’s No. 1 seed last season. Since Robinson took over in 2016, the Titans have the ninth-best overall winning percentage (.606) and fifth-best winning percentage in divisional games (.667). The team's statement basically indicates they think he's done a good job, just not good enough (i.e. no Super Bowls). Probably some internal politics and stuff there too. There just about always is. -

Looked up Robinson's resumé to see if he had any connections here. He does, and it's a longstanding one. Robinson and personnel guy Pat Stewart spent about a decade working together in New England. They were there during some of the Patriots best years. -

Possible, but they've been a pretty good team during his tenure. Cowden was formerly part of the Panthers organization and he's had GM interviews before. Guess now they'll get to see what he can do. -
That's outta left field

Person looks at Mayfield, Rhule and "revisionist history"

This, sadly, is a valid point -

That particular illustration would work a lot better with Scot McCloughan than Scott Fitterer. -
I would. So would Schefter. Since we know the release was done at his request, I'm going to guess he talked to his agent to try engage what level of interest there would be before going with it.

I always cringe at that phrase. Any suggestion that "this should happen solely because of that" is kind of dumb because it ignores the body of work. That said, all reports confirm the fifth year option was Fitterer's decision so he owns it. Of course, St. Bugs told me I need to be skeptical of these reports. Somehow I think he's gonna find a reason to believe this one though -
Who has been the best post-Cam Panthers QB?
Mr. Scot replied to TNPanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
And that's probably in fitting with the spirit of the question. Problem is everybody was so bad you have to do at least some level of mental gymnastics call anybody "best". -

Depends on how you look at the question. If I were to ask myself, which of this bunch would I most trust to lead the team right now, the answer would probably be Heinicke. Truth be told, they all come with qualifiers. For example, if you wanted to look at what quarterback had the best performance, I'd actually say it was Sam Darnold...if you only counted his first four games. -

Said elsewhere, I wasn't a huge fan of the Mayfield trade but I went into it expecting both more attitude and better on field performance than we ultimately got. I'd probably have been okay with him being more of an ass if he'd have performed in the games.
