See and that to me says "too early to judge", which is largely where I stand on Fitterer anyway. I have a generally positive feeling about him, but my overall grade is still an incomplete.
-
Well, ya know... Rhule clearly liked him since he mentioned having seen him in high school (no word on whether he recruited him). Shenault would be the second player Rhule wanted to draft that we later acquired by trade, the first of course being CJ Henderson. And both, of course, coming from the Jaguars.

I know one person who'd love it
-
Nah, but I'm enjoying your attempts to actually start threads and talk football given how much criticism you've universally received for not doing those things That makes it pretty clear you've heard what people are saying about you.
-
His post was dumb, as is yours, because you guys don't understand the heart of the issue. "There are people who will pay for it" is a stupid, unaware response which completely misses that Tepper and his people are out of touch with the average fan, choosing instead to value the corporate types who are willing to pay big money. But then, billionaires being out of touch isn't exactly a surprising thing. Pete Rozelle always fought to have the NFL product accessible to as many people as possible. These days, owners like Tepper only want it accessible to the people that can (and will) pay through the nose for it. And hey, God forbid his net worth drop down below 12 billion.
-
I've wondered whether perhaps the fact that the Panthers were a relatively young team without much history or tradition played into his decision to bid on them. Tepper may have believed that he could basically take the team and reshape it however he wanted and nobody would care.

How about "Appaloosa Management Stadium"?
-
Apparently so did the Panthers. From the same article... “I saw him in high school, so I think all of us have a vision for what he is,” Rhule said. “I remember when Marty (Hurney) was here, early in the draft process, Marty was in love with him. We watched a ton of him. I think he’s just a guy that we all have a lot of different things for.
-
Wouldn't really say I did that here, but I grant you're more experienced at that sort of thing than I am. He got the response he did because his post was dumb. LaFell did a pretty good job explaining why. I'd add that criticizing Roaring Riot is pretty ridiculous, especially coming from someone defending an owner who's as clearly out of touch with his fanbase as David Tepper.

You think getting picks in return for guys like Little and Daley count as "losses"? Which trades are you referring to?
-
Yeah When asked if he had any concerns about Tshimanga Biakabutuka's durability, Bill Polian replied "None." I remember him mainly because i=of that "Undrafted" series the NFL did.
-
That's the position the Seahawks always used to be in.
-
I don't think they were grandstanding for the cameras on Panthers Confidential. To be clear though, I don't mind trading down. I'm less a fan of trading away future picks. In both cases however, as long as you get good return I'm okay.
-
They specified that they received offers last year but didn't feel they were good enough...which I'm fine with. Heck, last year even when they did trade down they still wound up with guys they were targeting.
-
I'm not sure I buy that statement. Even if true, it could be a "for now" type of thing.
-
They have yet to trade down from their first round pick though.

Denver breaks the bank for Wilson... It eclipses the Watson contract in total dollars, but not guaranteed money.
-
Oh yeah
-
I will always wonder what would have happened had we targeted Steve McNair rather than Collins.

From Joe Person in The Athletic Person's speculation: Shenault could fit in a lot of different places as soon as he gets comfortable in Ben McAdoo’s offense. The two were together for a season in Jacksonville when McAdoo was the Jaguars’ quarterbacks coach. So he’s well familiar with Shenault’s dual-threat ability. According to TruMedia, Shenault lined up in the backfield 41 times in two seasons with Jacksonville. He had five catches for 17 yards out of the backfield to go with 18 carries for 72 yards. Rhule's comments: Rhule said the Panthers are happy with their Christian McCaffrey-led running back group and that Shenault would not be attending meetings with the backs. But it’s easy to envision McAdoo coming up with a special package for Shenault, especially considering how impressed Rhule was when he watched the tape of Shenault’s running plays. “Again, that’s not the vision for him,” he said. “But when you see a guy that runs the football and runs through contact the way he does. Put him out on the perimeter, he brings an edge to your offense that you love to have.” Shenault's feelings: Shenault, who reached 600 receiving yards in both of his seasons in Jacksonville, is cool with the comparisons to Patterson, the Rock Hill, S.C., native whose 153 rushing attempts last year with Atlanta were more than twice as many as his previous single-season high. But Shenault doesn’t want people to forget about his receiving skills. “Hopefully, I’m able to get in different positions and take that top off,” he said, “because I’m very capable of doing so.” To be clear, while Rhule's comments don't echo what Person expects, that could just be an attempt to not let slip how they plan to use him. Guess we'll see in about ten days...

Trust me. As someone reading your posts, I understand quite well what "limited" means.

Not necessarily a final cut but dumping Steve Beuerlein to go with Jeff Lewis (which then never happened) still pisses me off.

...but felt the price was too high
