Story on the Joe Brady situation from Charles Robinson..
Mr. Scot replied to WOW!!'s topic in Carolina Panthers
Here's the thing about Rhule... Everything he knows about being a head coach and running a football program was learned over several seasons at the college level. One season in the pros as an assistant to an assistant didn't teach him much, but it couldn't be expected to. If he was going to learn to be a real NFL coach, he needed to have mentors who could teach him that from early on. He didn't, and that's most likely why he still thinks like a college coach. Can the guys we have aboard now teach him? I don't know. My personal read is it feels like it's too late. Bottom Line: Rhule and Brady were both given positions for which they just weren't qualified. After being fired, Brady is now following the path he should have been on all along. Rhule however is still in a job he isn't qualified for, trying to get qualified via on the job training. Could it work? I suppose, but I'll be extremely shocked if it does. -
Panthers/Patriots Joint Practice Day 1 Write-up

Nice work, dude. I'll have to give it a more thorough read later when I have more time. Stuff like this really makes me.miss the days when I was able to go to camp. -
Down the road we may look at pictures of Matt Rhule the same way.

Don't know that this has been mentioned yet but big kudos to Mike Tomlin...

That picture is the answer to a lot of perplexing questions.

2005, DT Atiyyah Ellison (yeah, it actually happened)

Haslam's "great quarterback" comment is as tone deaf and ignorant as anything I've seen in a long, long while.

Ellis...

Yeah, I've said before that for me that falls under the category of "He's dumb, but he's not that dumb". (acknowledging that this kind of statement sometimes ends with a really unfortunate result)

Which...may not be good for us seeing as he was the Panthers trainer for 20 years. Might not necessarily affect anybody who's here now, but could still be embarrassing.
-
Not this season, no. That was last year.

Sorry, dude. Walker is just not that good, especially in the red zone. He can look half decent (sometimes) when there's plenty of space to work with, but once the field shortens it's pretty bad. He's not an NFL quarterback.

There is a part of my brain that thinks "Good grief, he's not gonna stop till he finds some way to keep PJ Walker, is he?" I'm trying really hard not to believe that but damn
-
I'm not sure a had coach who thinks you can run a two quarterback system in the regular season is going to have a very good understanding of "rhythm".

I get the feeling there are going to be some revelations forthcoming that will relate back to his time with us.

I'm gonna need more popcorn

Not sure how much of it I'm going to be able to see because the day ahead of me is...complicated. I'll definitely come back and review it later though.

Brian Baldinger breaks down the Panthers' offensive tackles

Plus arm length Seriously though, I suspect it might be wise to give a Ekwonu some help when he's first starting out, especially week one. -

And again the following year for QB coach before he hired Sean Ryan. Rhule's own words in his interview with Joe Person were that he had talked to Ben McAdoo before but that he "never seemed to be the right fit".
