  1. General consensus is that even if Mayfield is still on the roster, Jacoby Brissett will be the starter if Watson is suspended.
  2. Around three minutes in: "We'll bring some competition in at quarterback." Keep in mind, that doesn't necessarily mean a veteran. Probably not good news for PJ Walker, though.
  3. This is one of those times when putting a question mark in the thread title would be a good idea.
  4. More info on Rob Walton from Albert Breer... From Lennon Theus (@broncolen30): Who is the frontrunner or favorite to purchase the Broncos? Lennon, Walmart heir Rob Walton looms as the favorite. He’s there this week, and a quick Google search showed his net worth to be somewhere between $65 billion and $70 billion, which would make him the NFL’s wealthiest owner, surpassing Seahawks owner Jody Allen (who’s said to be in the $20 billion range), and second-wealthiest owner in North American pro sports, behind only Clippers owner Steve Ballmer. Per research from CEO World magazine last month, Walton’s the 16th-wealthiest man on the planet. Which is all a long way of coloring the fact that, yes, yes, yes … NFL owners would want Walton in their club. And the fact that his family already has boots on the ground in the market—Walton’s brother-in-law, Rams owner Stan Kroenke, owns the NBA’s Nuggets and NHL’s Avalanche—only makes this call easier for the other owners. Now, that does not mean it’s a slam dunk. The way Pat Bowlen’s will reads, the team has to go to the highest bidder, and someone could outbid Walton. But it won’t happen because Walton’s pockets aren’t deep enough, or through any lack of will from other owners. That’s for sure. NFL Owners Would Love for Walmart Heir Rob Walton to Buy the Broncos Despite the conversation being about richest owners, the article doesn't even mention David Tepper. Guess he's old news
  5. Ickey Ekwonu got the #79 he was hoping for. Matt Corral takes #9, as was hinted. https://www.panthers.com/team/players-roster/ Oddly enough, the free agent signees still don't have numbers listed. (later today, perhaps?)
  6. Not that we haven't made strides in roster and (assistant) coaching, but Garoppolo has still had a lot better team around him in San Francisco than he would with us, plus an extremely quarterback friendly system. It'd be way harder to minimize his issues here.
  7. Yep. Oh Lord Heck, Witten was so bad he went back to being a player.
  8. I don't think he's smart enough to do parody. More like "makes sh-t up for attention". Igo's called him out on falsely claiming inside access before.
  9. It's when he retires. About 50 different analysts have tweeted jokes about when that will be.
  10. Joe Montana, Kevin Greene and others have tried the commentating game...and sucked at it. Being a great player doesn't guarantee you'll also be a great talker.
  11. I've used the term "football intelligence" many times. I tend to think of it as a skill set. There are cardiac surgeons who have no clue how to use a smartphone, high priced lawyers who can't change a tire and college professors who couldn't follow a sports game to save their lives. Intelligence and aptitude are related, but not exactly the same.
  12. Dead cap is primarily a measure of past bad decisions. Here's hoping we minimize the need for that in the future.
  13. Totally wrong... Plenty of athletic endeavors require intelligence to succeed. Heck, professional quarterback is considered by some to be the hardest position there is to play in sports because of the mental requirements.
  14. Olsen is phenomenal as an in-game analyst. That top spot absolutely should be, and should stay, his job.
  15. I'm not all that sure I really want to hear Tom Brady call games.
  16. Awake cause I worked late. Don't flatter yourself. You're about as important to me as Tepper is to the NFL (i.e. not at all)
