  1. It's an amateur article for sure, but it's a halfway interesting read at least.
  2. That phrase still makes me cringe (PTSD) It's a different staff now though, so I probably shouldn't.
  3. There was plenty of chatter that we'd trade down too, but everything depended on how the board fell. The Giants had to go off what they knew, and I can't really blame them for that. Schoen played it smart.
  4. Well, I mean it's not like the various personalities (and egos) in the draft room were all just gonna sit down and sing Kumbaya together. (especially not when somebody's job might be on the line) Guys who have been in a draft room would tell you the atmosphere sometimes gets...contentious
  5. Definitely reads like his best fit would be a West Coast offense. People aren't going to be too happy about that one comparison though
  6. Were any of their coaches on the hot seat though? That's kind of a big factor.
  7. But they didn't know that. And realistically, it would have been rational to think somebody might have traded up for Thibodeaux. We might not have been inclined to take any of those offers, but again the Giants had no way of knowing that.
  8. Their best draft success came when they had Scot McCloughan, aka the guy who drank himself out of a GM job in Washington.
  9. I'd like to think we're developing him into a highly sought after college coach in 2023.
  10. They wanted Thibodeaux too. Their fear was that if they let Thibodeaux fall to six, someone might make the Panthers an offer they couldn't refuse. As it worked out, they got the tackle they had the highest grade on anyway.
  11. Should... In our current organizational structure he doesn't, at least not officially. Practically?
  12. Ellis confirms there wasn't a solid consensus on the QB spot, which is likely the best explanation for what happened behind the scenes... We had heard that Rhule and Tepper liked Pickett. Verge said scouts liked Willis. Fitterer might have preferred Corral but not necessarily over one of the best tackles (and heaven knows he's got experience with non first round quarterbacks). My question would be who made the final decision, and my guess would be Scott Fitterer, and if he indeed got his way over Matt Rhule, well...
  13. Seattle had a pretty long run up to this point. As for us, we've only had two drafts under Fitterer so any truly accurate draft grades are still a few years away.
  14. Just adjust your mock after you see the results. (works for others)
  15. It's worked for the Seahawks. Honestly, either approach can work. What really matters is that you pick the right players.
  16. Until we dump Matt Rhule for an actual NFL coach, I'm not optimistic.
  17. The Patriots did for a long time. Years of sh-tty drafting did finally catch up to them in the last few seasons.
  18. It's possible, I know. But a pretty good portion of what we've seen lately seems to indicate Fitterer has more influence over the team than he used to. That's encouraging.
  19. It's the model they want to follow...or at least the one that Fitterer wants to follow. The actual execution of it might get a whole lot better if certain changes are made next year.
  20. There are things which may have been true last year that might no longer be true this year.
