Yeah, not sure about that unless we really have a dominant offense, especially running game. If not.....then what was it worth?

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/46050509/sources-commanders-trading-brian-robinson-49ers-pick Wow.

Both of those are what I am deathly afraid of. I am very concerned they are going to sell out the next 2-3 years for one guy.
-
I don't think trading 6-7 starters a few days before Game 1 would be anything but a sure sign of tanking. I get the thought process but almost none of those starting guys has a replacement on the roster nor really any hope of finding one. The rest of them aren't worth fug all in a trade.

I agree. I see all the talk of Renfrow but it has been Coker that has earned the PT all offseason long.
-
Yeah, I am pretty concerned we might attempt something really stupid. The last thing we need, bad roster or not, is another future nuking move.
-
I am gonna push back on this "loaded" notion. There are some potentially nice pieces here but I don't think "loaded" is a word many in the NFL would use about us. Could it be? Maybe.
-
Yes and not his new and likely larger actual cap figure.
-
Supposedly we have like $19 mil in cap already available. If we are having to "clear" cap space for a move......this does not sound good. This sounds like the prelude to a panic move.
-
We haven't had New Orleans level cap issues but we also are projected(prior to this deal) to have just $17.7 mil in cap space next season. That's pretty bad when you consider what we are getting in return.
-
That's sort of what I mean. If this is a situation that this is likely to continue to degrade pretty steadily, I would call that serious. I am curious if we end up with the highest price tag OL in 2026 now.
-
Well, as @LinvilleGorge posted, it was from his own mouth he talked about these chronic knee issues he is managing. That's not great.
-
Curious to know what was offered. Decent draft picks should be what we want.
-
Yeah, I guess these aren't serious issues. I mean....we better hope they aren't.
-
If his cap hits are spread evenly across 2026 and 2027, the 2026 OL will be over $85 mil in cap space, BTW.
-
I think the confusion revolves around the rumors his knees were in bad shape. If that IS the case, this is a bad idea because he very well could be close to the end of his career. If that is all BS and he isn't having chronic issues, it's great to have our best OL since Kalil retired back.
-
IDK about upset. It's a little perplexing given that the rumors are his knees aren't in great shape. One has to assume the team knows different. Especially for that chunk o cash. If he's healthy, glad to have him back.

Level Of Enthusiasm Going into Game 1
kungfoodude replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
TBH, I don't expect much than some minimal and inconsequential bottom of the roster churn. It's possible we could end up with a valuable contributor but it's also very unlikely. -

I agree. I am very excited to see NFL back but the Panthers....eh....just waiting and seeing. -
Level Of Enthusiasm Going into Game 1

I was more positive in 2023. After getting a new QB and seemingly a real HC, it looked like things were looking up. Boy was I wrong about that one... -

I am a little bit more positive. I thought we had a better free agency and draft than in 2024. Still expect this to the 2nd worst roster in Panthers history but it's better than 2024, so it is technically an improvement. -
We really have shot ourselves in the foot repeatedly at kicker over the past few years it seems like. I don't care which option we choose, just as long as they don't turn out to be hammered dogshit. That's my big fear. But, as I stated a few weeks ago, if we are losing games solely because of a FG kicker, I will be pretty pumped about how the season went.
-
Bonus: How does this compare to last offseason heading into Game 1?
-
I don't know personally which guy would be right for us moving forward, but I do have faith that we will evaluate that situation thoroughly, come to a consensus and make the wrong decision.

I know Kelvin Benjamin had a great rookie year but I just get the feeling we are going to need a bigger safety net this coming season outside Cotchery. You guys are talking up Brown but this dude is a JAG, I am telling you. Anyway, although everyone is talking up Cooper as this generational WR, I have my eye on Lockett(Kansas St.) and Diggs(Maryland) as some impact guys that could go later. I just have a feeling. Also could potentially look at OT. Chandler and Bell are just not it. I would say maybe take a look at Donovan Smith(Penn St.). Could be a solid LT for years to come.
