100%. He showed way more flashes in one year than Fields has in three. I don't buy into Howell but I can buy into the HOPE part. Fields....you got three years of him just not being able to get over the hump. Meanwhile you look at guys like Stroud, Cam, Mahomes, Watson, etc. Stars from the moment they saw the field. THAT is what a successful first round QB looks like in their rookie deal.

For a player as deep into his career as Fields is, that isn't great. For reference, look at Lamar, Josh Allen, and Cam Newton's third year in the NFL. That's what being a successful "running" QB in the modern NFL looks like.

Literally the same reason people ars always interested in a QB on a rookie deal, they think they can salavage it. Remember Sam Darnold? How did that work out? I'll give you some homework, find me an underperforming top 10 QB that has ever been traded during their rookie deal and ever turned it around. Spoiler alert: You are gonna find out that this doesn't happen.

It's a mild upgrade at best. Fields is not a good NFL QB. Hence why he has consistently not been good. He is a bust, plain and simple. His best bet is to find a spot somewhere to be a #2 and work towards a Geno Smith like resurgence later in his career.

100%. No draft picks in the first two rounds. Those are likely to be top 10 for the next few years and we will need those to rebuild.

Icky seems to have lost his confidence entirely. I am not sure what to do about that. Maybe slide him inside to get re-adjusted to the NFL and playing downhill. Either way, our OL got worse across the board, so we need to shore that up and quickly.

The hindsight of that deal is unreal. The funny thing is we threaded the needle on an insane haul for CMC(won't see a RB trade like that in the next decade, I'll wager) then not only do we immediately squander the resources......we sign arguably the worst RB contract in the last 3-4 seasons. It's a microcosm of the Panthers under Tepper, for sure. The mistakes of the past repeated with new mistakes added in.

That is maybe one of the most insane things I have seen here recently. Henry is a large, physical RB. Those are exacrly the type of dudes that classically fall off a cliff suddenly. He's 30 and you want to give him a 4 or 5 year deal??? What the actual fug? Also, have you actually looked at this RB free agent class? Very possibly one of the best of all time. You can get a very solid RB and far younger for far cheaper.
