Hooker is probably a 2nd to 4th round pick post injury, unfortunately for him. He might have been a guy that could have cracked the first round. Very unfortunate to see that happen for him.

If Young ends up being the #1 overall target for Houston, I would shudder to think what that would cost. Keep in mind the Texans stood their ground and got a massive haul from the Browns. I don't imagine that becomes easier with what they have now.

Can Sam Darnold play himself into becoming the 2023 starter?
kungfoodude replied to Verge's topic in Carolina Panthers
He is just trolling but we do actually have people here that believe in this "transformation" of Darnold. That's the absurd part. -
We will need two goalies and Pyotr and Freddie are the best two we have. I love Raanta for what he has done but he is very clearly the 3rd best goalie on the squad. You gotta roll with your best two guys, IMO. Unless there is some chemistry issue with him.

Warren Moon?? Stetson Bennett is a lot more Colt McCoy than he is Warren Moon. What a profoundly odd comparison.

So the Titans giving up on Malik Willis already?

That's fair but you are still having this discussion in the post-2023 season, I think we can surmise that he isn't getting the opportunities because he doesn't deserve them. It's very difficult to say that happened because Rhule was such a wild idiot. And because McAdoo's ability to adjust anything he does to make things easier on the QB is a laughable concept. After watching three QB's here under him, it's obvious he literally has very little capability to adjust his offenses to his personnel strengths. -

Yeah, we will get a lot more of an idea about Corral IF we get a competent OC and a QB coach capable of developing him well. If those things happen, you should be able to tell after 2023 what his future is here because of how he is being treated as a prospect by the staff and FO. Not how he will turn out but at least we should have obvious indicators on what we think of him. That is next to impossible at the moment because of the Rhule/McAdoo situation. -
I think the old chart is just out of date when it comes to trading up for QB's. It doesn't help when you see the Stafford and Wilson trades either. Overall the draft pick value of elite QB's or QB prospects has skyrocketed. I would generally probably just pass on a massive trade up, even if it were for someone like Young. The penalty for missing on that pick is so unbelievably massive. It's at least a 4 year skid right out of the gate and potentially far longer. All while missing out on adding more elite talent with premium position picks.

Panthers Stockholm Syndrome is in full effect. The people that want him back at anything more than a short, minimum contract deal are out of their minds. Next we are gonna see threads about how Ben McAdoo really wasn't a bad OC and we should extend him. -
Yeah, TCU is scrappy but Duggan was terrible in that game.

These types of comparisons are why people have wildly unreasonable expectations. 24 is young for an NFL QB, rookie or not. When people objected to a 29 year old Chris Wienke, that was understandable.

It's something we have neglected forever.

It's a good strategy, IMO.

Fair enough.

Care to make a wager?

You are aware that Baker Mayfield basically did this, right? Like....this season? Also....Cam Newton did this for us last year. Young is very capable of winning an NFL game with a week of prep....provided that he has a good head coach and OC making a gameplan that allows him to be successful. That happens all the time with actual rookie QB's that need to have pared down offenses initially.

We would be nuts to get rid of Pineiro.
-
Yeah, he literally probably would if we didn't have a complete moron as an OC.
-
It's gonna be interesting if TCU drags UM and then Georgia loses.
-
Curious to see what the scouting community says about him towards draft time.
-
Tua had durability concerns in college too. We will see how it all shakes out.
-
Yeah, he is gonna a be a very successful NFL player, IMO.
-
I honestly don't think there will actually be much of a discussion at the end of the day. IMO, the majority of NFL FO's view him as the top guy and probably have for a while.
