Brady Christensen CARGuard#70 Panthers re-signed OL Brady Christensen. A 2021 third-round pick, Christensen just wrapped his rookie contract. He spent 2024 time at left tackle and center and has an entire season’s worth of playing time at left guard. He is a replacement-level player on the whole, but that kind of versatility can be hard to replace. Christensen is old for a fifth-year pro, turning 29 in September. -

Sam Martin CARPunter#8 Panthers signed P Sam Martin to a one-year contract. Martin was released by the Bills on Thursday, and it didn’t take too long for the 35-year-old to find a new home. The veteran punter averaged 46.7 yards per punt and ranked 11th with 46.3 percent of his punts landing inside of the 20-yard line. The Panthers offense looked vastly improved at the end of 2024, but he should get plenty of chances to punt the football in 2025.

Carolina is swapping out 35 year old kickers. So, at least a few people will still understand "Pete & Pete" and "Secret World of Alex Mack" references in the locker room.

Tershawn Wharton to sign with Panthers
TheSpecialJuan replied to PantherChris's topic in Carolina Panthers
"The Carolina Panthers came close to landing Milton Williams, and then circled back to fill a pressing need on their defensive interior. It’s an enormous payday for [Tershawn] Wharton, who had a career year with 6.5 sacks in 2024. While Wharton deserved a significant bump, this is enormous money for a player who has enjoyed one above-average campaign and only once has exceeded 50% of the defensive snaps in a season. At 26 years old, there’s ample room to grow, but the Panthers are betting on Wharton not only getting better but becoming a Pro Bowl-caliber player to justify the contract." Matt Verderame SI.com -

Josh Klein: Utilizing restraint and not letting their top free agent or trade target go because the compensation got too high was not something the Panthers were doing two years ago. When your job is on the line, you make moves to appease your boss and for short term success. Having a multi-year plan and sticking to it is a recipe for (dare I say it) sustained excellence. You need to hit on the players you bring in, but I am a big believer that good process leads to good results most of the time. The last 24 hours was good process, imo.
