  1. I can hardly wait for the 2023 College Football Season to start to how Drake Maye and UNC will do.
  2. ("Reich said Young wants to prove he’ll be ready to start in Week One.") I like the fact that QB Bryce Young acknowledges the fact that he will have to earn the starting QB job and doesn't feel it will simply be handed to him because he was the 2023 #1 Overall NFL Draft Choice.
  3. N.C. State offensive lineman Chandler Zavala is moving up several NFL draft big boards / via Associated Press Draft Profiles NFL NFL Draft Opinion Editorial Players Draft Profile: Chandler Zavala, G, N.C. State The 2023 NFL offseason is here and that means it’s time for mock drafts, draft profiles and everything that goes with them. So without further ado, here’s one of many Draft Profiles for the 2023 NFL draft. Chandler Zavala, G, N.C. State HT: 6’5 WT: 325 lbs Accolades: – All-America Honors 2018 – First-team All-MEC Video: Pros: – Has the natural power to move defenders at the point of attack. Zavala also has the agility and speed to get out in front and land blocks at the second level. He also shows a good understanding of angles when climbing to the second level. – Displays good awareness when it comes to reading moving bodies, effectively reacting and adjusting. He also shows a good feel for combo blocks. – Zavala plays with good leverage despite his taller frame, and he’s a surprisingly good mover for his size, showing fluidity and flexibility when blocking on the second level. – He’s a coordinated athlete who can win at the point of attack in the run game, and Zavala can also move to consistently land blocks at the second level. – Consistently keeps his feet sliding while maintaining power when dealing with speed, often sending speed rushers flying past the pocket – In the run game, he explodes off the line of scrimmage and consistently gets out to the second level to do damage. Cons: – Has enough power in the run game, but at times Zavala seems to lack a mean streak. – Can struggle to stay engaged, especially on the second level. His hand placement can be sloppy, costing him power. – Could be a liability against speed-to-power pass rushers early in his career. Summary: Zavala will add instant quality depth to most rosters. His size and strength translates well to the pros. If Zavala can improve against the speed rush he can definitely be a starter in this league. 4. DE/Edge Rusher D.J. Johnson has tremendous upside and NFL type Talent but needs some technical polish and the Panthers have formed a good coaching staff that should be able to make that happen.. D.J. Johnson showed off an impressive combination of strength and speed by hitting 28 reps on the bench press and running a sub-4.5-second 40-yard dash time at the NFL Combine, but his technique is still a work in progress as a defensive lineman, especially as a pass-rusher. Johnson is still learning how to use his hands when rushing the passer and lacks a go-to move that he'll be able to win with at the next level. However, he is strong and physical at the point of attack as a run defender and showed flashes with his bull rush. He is a versatile edge who can play in either even or odd fronts. He will take some time to develop, he is still new to the position which gives him more upside.
  5. Some draft forecasters had Trenton Simpson rated as high as a top 50pick. Others knocked him, saying his short area quickness wasn't ideal for difficult coverage assignments or swiveling around in pursuit.
  6. If I were QB Bryce Young I would chose # 2 jersey since I was following Cam Newton who had the #1 jersey. .
  7. (" If the majority of our fans dislike him, it prob means he will be a good player.") Point well taken.
  8. OREGON DEFENSIVE END DJ JOHNSON After starting his college career at Miami, then transferring to Oregon and flipping back and forth between tight end and defensive end, DJ Johnson has a unique profile as an older prospect who is also a project. He showed off an impressive combination of strength and speed by hitting 28 reps on the bench press and running a sub-4.5-second 40-yard dash time at the NFL Combine, but his technique is still a work in progress as a defensive lineman, especially as a pass-rusher. Johnson is still learning how to use his hands when rushing the passer and lacks a go-to move that he'll be able to win with at the next level. However, he is strong and physical at the point of attack as a run defender and showed flashes with his bull rush. Some teams might hold it against him that he'll turn 25 in October, but the Duck is a versatile edge who can play in either even or odd fronts. He will take some time to develop and while he is older, he is still new to the position which gives him more upside.
  9. It is great to see Smitty put his stamp of approval on WR Jonathan Mingo.Smitty tells it like it is. When he talks about a WR we all need to listen.
  10. Congratulations on a good call. I actually never thought WR Jonathan Mingo would last until the Panthers pick in the 2nd Rd.
  11. I think that was smart thinking by Tepper to confuse the other teams about which players the Panthers wanted to draft.
  12. WR Jonathan Mingo is big, strong, fast and has good hands. All this points to this being a really great draft pick.
  13. When I first watched the tape on WR Jonathan Mingo, I could not help but think of former Panther WR Muhsin (Moose) Muhammad. They are both 6'2, 220 Lbs 4.45 or 4.50 speed and great hands. If Jonathan turns out to be anywhere close to Moose in his prime, the panthers not only will have gotten a steal, it will be a super steal.
  14. This was a great selection. A lot of people had a 1st Rd rating on Jonathan Mingo and I never thought he would last until the Panthers drafted in the 2nd Rd. I think all of us fans will be happy at the way he fits into the offense and how he will be able to help out a young QB like Bryce Young.
  15. Jonathan Mingo has the hands and the body to follow in the Ole Miss-to-NFL footsteps of A.J. Brown and DK Metcalf. In a wide receiver class that's short on size, Mingo checked in at 6-2 and 220 pounds in Indianapolis, then put on quite an athletic display in the 40-yard dash (4.46 seconds), vertical leap (39.5 inches), broad jump (10-foot-9) and bench press (22 reps). Now he's one of the hottest names late in the process.
