I mean, if all your starting WR can do is catch….that by default that should make him a situational role player. It’s 2024. It’s an offensive league. Thielen being a starter and dominating play time 100% lowers the offensive ceiling. Theilen isn’t a deep threat. He isn’t a YAC threat. He can’t run. He is a safe rec TE in reality in terms of production/play. I’m not saying he shouldn’t have a role but he should be a role player. Even Theilen himself said the league viewed him that way….well except the worst O in the NFL. * no doubt he was the best thing about the last year. That makes us skew things. We just comically force feed him. But he wasn’t good given the volume he got.

Mingo comes in with a higher ceiling IMO than the other 2. Hard to disagree we have lacked diversity as they are all fairly similar in style. Gotta just hope the law of averages eventually applies and hit on one. Would be nice to hit on the one with the highest ceiling.

The definition of freak athlete with no positional home in the NFL

I don't know anyone that went mini van and regretted it with small children. But there does seem to be some mental hurdle for some folks to going to the van life. and it's hard to find captain seat 2nd row SUVs. And those are the only bearable ones IMO.

David Gettis szn!

I'm anti SUV with small children (specifically if you need a 3rd row) unless you get a ride that has captain seats in the 2nd row. Otherwise, the 3rd row is an utter nightmare.

33rd Team article: It's time to rethink Bryce Young's expectations
CRA replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Canales' entire NFL career has been consistent in terms of the type pass games he has been part of. And it runs counter to Bryce Young. It's about the deep ball and chunk pass plays. Wilson, Geno, Baker. No exception. -
my best guess is we technically see more offense. More yards. More scores. But also more turnovers and bad play since that is not Bryce Young's game. And with a D taking a step back.....I just don't see us being much better overall. Ball could of bounced our way last year in a game or two. I expect the law of averages says we might win a couple this year we didn't last year. end of the day, top 10 pick and the board is consumed on the debate about moving up for X QB.
-
yeah, it's hard to expect much... given those that brought you the 24th ranked O last season.....got lesser talent to work with this year overall. Then the icing on the cake....is Bryce clearly doesn't fit the Canales pass attack. Which is all about the deep ball. Baker chucked it deep more than anyone in the NFL last year. That's what brought about the Geno comeback as well. It just seems like 2024 is a round peg/square whole O IMO with our QB.
-
I really liked XL. But I'm not expecting much from him this year given he is paired with Bryce. I just think for XL to shine with his talents.....he needs a downfield gambler. I think Brooks will slowly be brought along and we don't see his debut until in season. That's our top 3 rounds...and really where you would be looking for rookie impact. Rest should more than likely be developmental and have minimal impact. So I expect fans to get down on our draft picks early. I think the G play could get praise but C being such a wildcard (as well as Canales' run game) has that as not the lock I think some have it has. Plus, I think Bryce simply can make the OL look bad given his size the problem he has in so many traditional settings/placement in the pocket.
-
O takes a step forward D a step backwards End result is a team that is picking in the top 10. Who knows how the ball bounces. I'd say about 5ish wins.
-
Theilen didn't crack the top 100 in terms of yards per catch. Theilen didn't crack the top 100 in terms of yards after the catch Theilen is washed. Him being on the field so much limits us. He should be situational. Not a starter. He wasn't actually a good thing for the O last year. He just happened to be functional. And Thielen himself I think admitted that only Carolina disagreed with that.

The Panthers' Xmas Movie (wrong answers only)

Oh Wee Mayne: A Christmas in the Carolinas. -
Ron Rivera, Marty Hurney, Matt Rhule, Scott Fitterer, Frank Reich, Dave Canales, Dan Morgan. all I know, is if Ian Thomas shows up on the gameshow survivor...I'm betting my house on him to win.

being the smallest QB since the 40s makes you an anomaly in the NFL. Especially paired with a meh arm.
-
You aren't going all in on an anomaly QB.....when you are just inserting him into standard NFL offenses. Unique QBs require teams to be unique on offense.
-
if we are taking requests.... I'd like the media to only talk to XL. And every time they ask him a question he goes... and walks off. Not mad or angry though. Just back to work. Maybe add in an occasional oh wee mayne or something. He can get a little creative.

For Dom Capers, going back to Clemson brings back fond memories
CRA replied to Carolina Panthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
that's not appeasing the other though. In reality, for the majority of the state of SC.....Clemson is a less convenient location than Charlotte.
