Moving on to the 2nd round discussion
CRA replied to flagfootballcoach28's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’m sticking with Jordan Burch as the pick -
i wish for just today, our old banned Sanders/Colorado fan was here today to soak up this first round draft with us.

Round 1 - Panthers Select Tetairoa McMillan at Pick 8
CRA replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
Meh. Front office minus Canales has largely been here for some time now overall. They simply erased Fitterer from it and kept it moving…..and you still see a lot of the same concerns IMO. It is what it is. I don’t dislike Canales but it pretty evident Carolina has lacked the big picture folks to make it happen here IMO. And flawed or not, there hasn’t been a clear vision post Ron Rivera. I look frankly at Tepper’s soccer club for delusional hope it somehow happens on the football side. Somehow has gotten it together over there. I guess that’s the hope he can do it -
Round 1 - Panthers Select Tetairoa McMillan at Pick 8

A pick that fit a big picture vision and plan that can be argued makes sense. It’s more random parts. we didn’t need an outside big body. Bryce Young is our QB and we just did that last draft. This one just has a higher floor and lower ceiling than the last. Needed either D our a component of a Bryce O that was lacking -
Round 1 - Panthers Select Tetairoa McMillan at Pick 8

This is what year 8 of the Tepper era…and still trying to find a .500 season? Forget Rome. How long does it take to build a log cabin on a remote island -
His board isn’t a guess of where guys get drafted though. He knew Cam Ward was pick 1 but didn’t view as the best football player (which he isn’t). So he doesn’t rank 1. Teams don’t draft BPA. They draft need, bias, systems, all sorts of stuff.

I don’t like not fast WRs, that aren’t really good route runners….for an O in desperate need of YAC and speed. We just spent a first on XL to develop. not saying anything new or reactionary. Same thought posted earlier today multiple times
-
No he isn’t. Neither XL or TMac are the natural weapons Bryce Young needs. we gave up the farm for a small ball QB to get the ball out quick for YAC guys…..and just spent two first on WRs that match some John Fox/Jake Delhomme offense Square pegs and round holes. It’s the Tepper era
-
So….how about some of those same insiders that had TMac outside of round 1?
-
Did Dan Morgan ever clear the concussion protocol from back in the day? Rules were always weird and bad back then…
-
It’s an elaborate ploy to make AT not look so slow. If we don’t have speed and YAC anywhere on the field then….AT belongs still j/k
-
A big 4.5 WR. Exactly what we don’t need given our construction on offense presently.
-
Hope someone has checked on Deion Sanders to make sure he is okay.
-
Someone our perpetual top 10 draft team can look down upon lol.
-
30 minutes in and on the 3rd pick of no brainers. That’s two slow for me. and some mid rounds go so fast they can’t even show and keep up with picks
-
I think the NFL restricts how fast picks can be turned in. I think the very first time the 1st round went stand alone it was super fast. Slows down every year
-
that would be a great pick for the Jags if they weren’t forced to give up all those draft assets. Brings a A+ pick down to a C factoring cost
-
Has to be right?
-
Walker. Should be Warren or a trade back though
-
In the same draft I would put XL below him but we drafted XL. We need to be working on finding someone to knock AT out of the slot and bring YAC to Carolina. Which isn’t Tet.
-
Yep, we need diverse pass catchers. We need some quick shifty YAC play. Or a TE. Not TMac. We already got to 2nd year guys to develop on the outside.
-
all depends. When and where you pick. I mean there is a lot of comparable edge talent IMO that will go on for a long time in this draft. To me, that doesn’t mean you just draft edge talent. Who is there? What does your team look like. you can compete and win with good offense and bad defense in today’s NFL. We still have to fix our offense. It doesn’t work the other way around the same I don’t want a team with the 30th ranked pass attack going in saying they have their minds set on a defense heavy draft. That’s not actually managing it the way I want me team. Take largely BPA that makes sense…..and factoring what the overall draft offers. I think edge at 8 is a weak option given the other edge options this draft offers elsewhere and the edge talent at 8 being not crazy different than later.
-
defense can only win a championship in the NFL only if the O exists. a team with a bad offense.....is just a meh team if it is paired w/ good defense.
-
not really, I read that as TMAC is in play if we get fugged on all our dudes....because we don't won't too look stupid.
-
I'm not saying we shouldn't draft defense. Clearly we should. I'm just pointing out, we also have had one of the most pathetic pass attacks in the NFL and it somehow seems to have been forgotten going into draft.....and it shouldn't be. It's a passing league.
