  1. I think at this point, you got to just assume Tepper is going to fall somewhere between Jerry Richardson and Jerry Jones. He has 2 pro teams....and he clearly isn't going to sit back and let things just playout like you saw Richardson do IMO. NFL - 4 HCs - 1 has logged more than 1 season under him to date MLS - 3 HCs -0 have logged more than 1 season under him to date I think the bar should be, can Tepper just go a season and not throw a drink of opposing fans or fire someone in season. Baby steps.
  2. I mean, his 2nd soccer coach made the playoffs in year 2 of Charlotte FC's existence....and was fired after 1 season as HC.
  3. I mean, he was awesome for the entirety of his rookie contract. That's really all you should be looking for at that spot.
  4. I would assume the Todd Gurley reach out is probably just as much about the ACL as anything. Think Gurley had the ACL at almost an identical time of his college season I believe. Gurley went on to be OROY despite not being ready at the start of the year.
  5. Pretty sure it's just a quirky angle where his bicep is turned over... Because when you look at his other arm in the same picture. It's very much a standard Bryce arm.
  6. maybe I can help clarify as it has gotten confusing. I think I got a handle on where it turned. I'd rank them best guess 1. Juan 2. Bryce 3. Dwayne Jarrett 4. Julius Peppers
  7. sure, but that's equating all 32 owners as doing the same thing in terms of decisions of a roster. Which we know isn't true. We know some owners flat out have overruled GMs/HCs on big picks. Now, we don't know Tepper did that. I'm making a guess/assumption that the reporting was correct....and he trumped others inhouse.
  8. I mean, when you got several legit insider reporters saying the same thing....I tend to buy into the disagreement existing. I can see Tepper, the owner of a struggling franchise suffering from horrific PR and being clowned on.....making an executive decision to hopefully change the discourse/narrative. I mean, that's why they went up to #1 overall despite not doing it for a player. Bryce had the best resume and believed to be the "safest" pick. Tepper has been in Charlotte has owned pro teams for what 5 seasons....and has now employed 7 different head coaches across his teams not counting interims? I mean, coaches come and go. Why would Tepper let a coach make his #1 overall franchise QB pick? He said the day he bought the team, that's when he would step in. For those type decisions.
  9. a healthy Bosa is a pretty significant piece paired with Mack. Given how early that game is and state of both offenses.....I think a defense is going to win that game for one of the teams. Really amazed how they tore that O down so quick around Herbert.
  10. Problem for Bryce and the O.....is opposing defenses sit on the pass game and play him as dink and dunk QB. They cheat on how they play the WRs and routes. I don't think things are going to change for Bryce until he can threaten a defense to back off how they play him. Now that wasn't all Bryce's fault last year. But I think it's fair to say he had a healthy role in that problem. Frank put gas on that fire with his repetitive and predictable nonsense. Which was always a Frank issue. Exaggerated issue last year with Frank.
  11. Same reason they moved up to #1 despite not doing so at the time for a specific player. Tepper does what he wants with his team. Tepper picked Bryce. Nothing says Frank wanted to do this experiment in Carolina with a unicorn rookie QB. I still think the reporting was true, there was a big internal split. Tepper won. Same time it was reported they were divided, Frank world people were on TV pimping hard for CJ and that Frank simply had a type for his O. CJ was the best fit of the big 3 for Frank. I think drafting Bryce was fine. But then they shouldn't of hired Frank. I think Frank would have been an okay Fox/Ron type hire...if they gave him what he wanted.
  12. This is true. His velocity isn’t great but it’s good enough when he is set properly. Issue is, it is routine in the NFL to have to make lots of throws each week when you simply aren’t able to have ideal mechanics. His height likely increases how often that will be I would think.
  13. Bryce got heavier and looked more muscular around this time last year too. Probably tough to keep it on for him given his age and the workouts coming. https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/2023/07/01/panthers-qb-bryce-young-offseason-weight-workout/
  14. I said I don't remember bust talk. I remember other talk about his size in this league, value of the position, etc. Maybe people called him a bust. That's just not what I remember. CMC had a 1100 total yard rookie season...on a team that featured Cam Newton and Jonathan Stewart in the backfield (CMC backed up Stew). So yeah, I just don't buy CMC as basically Bryce Young in some comparison there. That's just me. I mean, your warning was simply not to do specific political ranting in the Carolina Panthers section. And you know you can't do that in this section. And I frankly, only warned you because I made the post disappear. That's isn't generally your style. It's not that serious.
  15. maybe so. I don't remember actual bust talk. That would have been silly. I mean, there were areas he needed improve on and he basically figured all that out after 1 year and immediately solved those issues. I don't love a CMC comparison here though. my personal stance on Bryce hasn't changed much.... fixing Bryce has little to do with Bryce....it has to do with the scheme and O he plays in. It has to suit him and have the weapons. I think Carolina was a bad spot for him and I still largely feel that way. The org is just treating him like some textbook QB that can insert into what others have been doing. Bryce is sort of a unicorn. You got to be all in on unicorns. Not fixated on getting them to do what you do.
  16. "Literally. Nothing," he replied with a laugh. "I was kind of away from football for the most part, just living every other aspect of my life. Just hanging out, being around family, being around friends, getting back to a routine that doesn't revolve as much around football. For me, it was still being able to just enjoy and work out, but the Xs and Os actual football part, kind of stepping away from it. "Legit, it sounds boring, like I'm holding something out, but I'm not. But it's really like I watch YouTube, I watch TV, I watch Netflix, and every once in a while, I'll go someplace to maybe look at some clothes or something. There's nothing really cool that I'm just trying to hang onto. I'm definitely kind of a homebody. I'm an only child, so I'm used to being able to just chill on my own. That's how I decompress. So it's really just that."
  17. he already answered that question honestly a few weeks back and it wasn't well received. he got away from football, spent a lot of time alone and watched Netflix and you tube. He eventually added back in working out in the morning. I mean, the honest answer doesn't make you feel good about a struggling rookie QB with a host of issues.
  18. I mean, CMC had almost 1100 total yards and 7 TDs his rookie season. I don't recall people calling him a bust but there was criticism he needed to bulk up and change for the NFL and of course the should you really draft a RB that high talk given what you can get elsewhere. and he spent the offseason putting on tons of muscle and getting jacked. Which was basically the talk of the board as camp approached. And that 1100 season was then followed by an almost 2k season. what did Bryce do? Watched Netflix and you tube....per Bryce. So it's hard to really think we will see a CMC uptick in year 2 when our QB took the offseason off of football.
  19. goal is always to move you from your cheap drinking tailgate areas....into a "better place". Where you can pay someone large sums to drink the same beer you were drinking for cheap.
  20. as an actual fan, I don't give 2 poos about updating to current standards. Updating to current standards is just about money from people that don't care about actual football. I care about having a winning team and a good team. Not much else.
  21. I'm largely looking at non-divisional. Division is just weird and that just will be whatever it will be. I break it up into 3rds. Raiders, Chargers, Bengals, Bears Commanders, Broncos, Giants, Bye Chiefs, Cowboys, Eagles, Cardinals I'd rather hit that Raiders clump playing our best ball vs the KC clump.
  22. Yep. Canales is a first year HC. His OC is a first year OC. Bryce is learning his 2nd O in 2 years. The entire team will be learning a new O going into the season. All that should likely lead to a slow start. So I would much rather the easier part of the schedule be later.....and the team get those opponents once the team is up and running better. I still like the middle of the schedule the best. But yeah, I'd rather just see KC, Dal, Philly, etc early and take those losses then. Get SD, Oak, Chi etc. late when we hopefully start coming into form.
  23. I might be old but I can't wait to play this game again. Gonna make some kids cry that I know. Because I know the game is going to play the same way it did overall as it did 20 years ago lol.
  24. pump your breaks. There will be open fan tryouts. This isn't a complete clownshow. Best man will win. #Lookingfordawgs
  25. I think going 0-17 is basically as hard as going 17-0. It's the NFL. If someone always has a bad day and a roster full of NFL players makes them pay for it. Really really bad teams can stumble into 1-4 wins. 4 is sort of my things go pretty good benchmark. I don't like the how the schedule is. I'd feel better if it was reversed and we had the backend first.
