  1. yeah, Sanders just highlights how important OL is....and pretty much supports the narrative that largely if you solve OL issue you solve your run issues. The is no shortage of RBs that can run behind actual good OL play. Sanders was running through huge holes in Philly. And was basically league average once he saw contact back there. I mean, yeah, a CMC or Adrian Peterson is nice. But largely I think teams should just focus on the OL.
  2. Bryce’s arm issues in the NFL aren’t just seen deep. Even basic out routes. If Bryce Young isn’t set….he doesn’t really have a NFL caliber arm to do what we have come to expect in today’s NFL IMO from #1 overall caliber QBs I keep saying I think Bryce in a good scenario can eventually be good. And I have been on record since before last kicked off we weren’t doing what we should to help him succeed when people were fanboying over the all star staff, Miles Sanders , etc. So I don't think I am a true Bryce hater. But his tools limit his ceiling.. I just don’t see how we can’t accept that. It’s not his fault but the reality is the situation is he was drafted #1 overall….and it comes with different judgement and criteria vs other QBs IMO.
  3. I don’t know about that….when we drafted him I basically conceded we would largely be playing small ball. That’s just what I have always thought Bryce was going to be. A dink and dunk PG. Playing a version of old Drew Bree’s’ game but maybe not that extreme. To date, I think that’s supported. Bryce might of thrown some deep balls on a stacked Bama roster in college but even then it wasn’t really his thing and his accuracy was bad. He doesn’t have the NFL tools to really challenge downfield as part of his bread and butter in the NFL. He isn’t going to be a chunk yardage. Not sure why anyone would want to be trying that. That’s not playing his strengths. I just feel it’s more bad marriages. And we are doing what we do. Convincing ourselves it isn’t what it is. But I do concede Canales is young and we don’t know his OC. So maybe they will switch it up and not be what we have seen from then. I just think Leggette is a sign that it isn’t the case.
  4. I mean all we got is what we got on him. And you can trace it back to Seattle. Wilson is a downfield thrower. Always a heavy/top air yard QB going downfield. That’s the Canales background and resume to date. I mean, I would think if the goal was to do something new catering to Bryce vs doing what you do….you would’t draft Leggette with your first pick. Basically an Evans/DK deep ball guy and draft some route runner like Ladd to get the ball out quick.
  5. Baker lead the NFL in pass attempts of 20+ air yards. and it’s not hard to see how Canales gets their after all that time in Seattle. Wilson was a chuck it downfield guy. Only thing I don’t get in this Bryce era….is what the heck they keep pairing up. Maybe Canales is so young he totally creates a Bryce O. To date, it looks like a really bad match
  6. It’s just modern day Foxball with a heavy dose of 11 personnel IMO. and I think what really makes it modern day Foxball. is how they pass off it. Which is chunk plays downfield. and Canales #1 pick is the perfect fit for what he did in Tampa. I mean, no WR in the draft probably is a better fit for that brand of ball.
  7. I mean, his O is literally on film from last year. They stubbornly ran the ball mediocrely and then had Baker chuck it downfield off that. He is more John Fox than Mike Shannahan. Frank had no secret offense. Neither likely does Canales.
  8. I think he was zone to start last year and the O was horrible. Think they shifted and it went to okay. But yeah, his O last year was very Fox/Delhomme-ish, Which big picture might make even less since then Frank for Bryce. It’s lives off the deeper shots off run
  9. Good thing we paired with Canales….who needed his QB to lead the NFL in 20+ air yard attempts last year
  10. Canales wasn’t exactly running something new age last year. Offense probably more built for Jake Delhomme than Bryce Young. it wasn’t a very good or efficient O….that was largely kept alive by Baker chucking it downfield. He lead the league in pass attempts 20+ yards in air downfield. Leggette is 100% a match. Bryce? Nothing IMO about his offense last year screams Bryce Young
  11. I mean, but that's because those #1 overall picks..... did something. Trevor - playoffs by year 2 Burrow - playoffs by year 2 Murray - OROY and Pro Bowl by year 2 Baker - Rookie record for TDs Goff - playoffs by year 2 Winston - OROY and Pro Bowl year 1 Luck - OROY and Pro Bowl by year 1 Cam -OROY and Pro Bowl by year 1 Bryce has to actually live up to the field to be treated like the field. Plenty of first round QBs in recent history have been given up on between 1 and 2 seasons.
  12. that's what worries me. short term at least. last year, my go to phrase was bad marriages.....I think that defines why everything went so poorly for Bryce. I don't see Leggette as the asset to Bryce that he would be for say....even a really bad PJ Walker type QB. I hope Canales focuses on scheme up players and that Thielen gets rotated out of the slot at a heavier rate than last year. I think given what the younger players can do with the ball in their hands....we need to help them get involved with some early down slot work at times.
  13. the Rams don't give a rip about draft picks. this draft aside, McVay has never had a 1st round pick in his career and paired that with missing his 2nd a couple years on top of no 1st. They got 2 NFC Championships and Super Bowl during that window. Under valuing them has at least worked for them overall.
  14. all these years later, I knew I would figure this out one day. Something always seemed off that cloudy day in central Tenn for me. Now I know why I it looks like I'm doing the stanky leg dance when I walk down the street.
  15. it wasn't popular in real time to criticize the Double Trouble stuff. Only after. Generally in real time, most things are supported overall.
  16. I mean, Randy Moss wasn't going to do much pre-Rattler on that offense. 2021 they started a graduate assistant, a WR, and some random dude at QB. Not a single QB broke 1000 yards. In 2020, the QB threw for 1400 total yards
  17. based on what we know from David Tepper and how he handles his football team, soccer team and building plans in the community? No one really in the NFL quits and changes things faster than David Tepper. If Bryce doesn't give them something to legitimately be excited about? They move on. That's what Tepper has pretty much unquestionably proven. Bryce gets this year. He has to perform and prove he is worth something outside of this season.
  18. again, I care about what type of player you are was you enter the draft. I mean, that's what you are for the most part. QB, RB, WR, TE, OL I mean you can find dudes that really only shined one year at different spots for an assortment of different reasons. In the end, what type player you are you enter the league is all that matters. Hell, some dudes come into the NFL and have never played the NFL position they are about to play..... one year of great play is one year of good play. And that one year of great play is right before coming into the league. That's the comparable. Everyone's path is different. It's not like there isn't a story on Leggette's journey. Played QB his senior year of HS, COVID, Gamecocks literally went into seasons without a QB and pulled staff to play, etc. You think that type team is going to chucking it to Leggette or dink it off to Shi Smith....and by the time they actually got a functional QB, not even a good one, Leggette blew up. You just choose to ignore that for Leggette.....but acknowledge why others only had 1 great year. and again, I'm a well documented Gamecock hater. Leggette is a better prospect coming in than Mingo. He enters the league playing at a higher level than Mingo ever showed capable with better tools.
  19. I mean, Jonathan Brooks had 1 year of college production. No one cares about that. I just don't see the reason mattering. Not doing is not doing. XL had a dominant season out of the SEC on a meh offense where everyone knew he was the dude to get the ball. Mingo had several decent seasons. I'd take the dominant guy at the end over consistently okay. Only knock I got Leggette, is I'm not sure Bryce is the style of QB to really get the most out of what he offers.
  20. Joe Burrow didn't really do anything until his 5th year in college football. Couldn't even break a depth chart and had to transfer to play. I little his 4th. Guess he should of been a 7th rounder.
  21. lot of players just had one legit year of college play. Not sure the reasons why matter that much. What matters most is the type player you are as you enter the NFL.
  22. I mean, there are tons of recent studies on NFL players and ACLs. The average is still about 11 months return to field. RB, LB, and DL are also statistically are the worst positions to get an ACL injury per studies. But yeah, there are always dudes that defy the averages. But every young guy with an ACL isn't going to be part of bringing the average down. I still think it's a red flag. I think Carolina should be slow and cautious. Not get caught in a rush of wanting to see talent just because we lack it.
  23. Those top 3, I think really had a good draft on paper. For whatever a good draft on paper is. I think outside of someone like Atlanta, I’d throw most teams in the same boat
