QB league. Stud QB changes the dynamic of so many around him. Same for really bad QBs. we are this bad not just because we draft bad. Lots of teams draft bad. We do FA poorly. We do trades poorly. We hire coaches poorly. And we have delayed rebuilding properly since Ron/Cam left.

Win now teams, desperate teams and stupid teams have always existed. Young kids always think everything is new…when it’s just new packaging.

Rams and then Bucs the year before the Rams? I mean, they added greatest QB and arguably greatest TE in NFL history and won the Super Bowl off it. and largely the majority of recent history is really just dominated by landing GOAT QBs. Which is why it’s largely just a small group of winners.

I mean the most pathetic pass game in the NFL being saved by a 1 year OC that lead the 20th ranked O…..isn’t the greatest sales pitch ever made to anyone with options. We would have had to offer Mike 20 a year. Jets overpaying him at least makes since given they basically are in win now with Rodgers mode.
-
Mike Williams is awesome when healthy. It’s good we didn’t sign him. What he does best does jive with Bryce Young. He belongs with a calculated downfield risk taker.
-
We should double dip in the draft.
-
makes sense. Rent him for a year for Rodgers.

you are supposed to cater to a rookie QB and put him in a position to succeed/grow. Specifically one you mortgaged your future for. We failed massively to put him in a good spot last year to succeed/grow. And if he had good G play last year....he still wouldn't of been put in a position to succeed.

I'm just here easily doing the good work lord Zod would want.

I mean, the issues going into last year were always going to be the issues. The parts didn't fit. The talent and scheme didn't fit the QB. You could of given Bryce better G play last year......almost all the issues still largely exist. I've acknowledged we should have better G play. Talk about signing Mike Wiliams....is just repeating the problems of last year. Mike doesn't fit a Bryce Young O IMO. And as I said, I love Mike Williams. We gave up the farm for a small ball QB. And have no intention to build an O that does it. That to me, remains a terrible idea.

yeah, other organizations pull off the multi-purpose gigs.....and still have grass for their football teams.

Garth getting old. Tepper got to make sure he can make it back the next year.

He likes special events. That's what I call this he has a soccer team. It has a meh roster. I did find the description on Fox Sports about Charlotte FC funny. Hard to tell the difference between if they are talking about the soccer or Panthers team Charlotte’s brain trust veered from one coach to another, one game model to another, and one player acquisition philosophy to another. None of it has worked appreciably well

Andy Reid squeezing the most out of former #1 and #2 overall draft picks.

well, last year there was no excuses for him not to sleepwalk to the playoffs with the best roster since 2003/2011 assembled around him. Like, I said, this all just feels the same. Canales didn't run a O last year that seems ideal for Bryce Young. Skill talent is largely the same. We replaced Chark with a more talented headache on the outside. And that outside WR spot isn't the main bread and butter of an anomaly like Bryce IMO. But there is time. Everything I'm seeing and hearing to date though, seems like this O would be better suited for Jake Delhomme Jr.

Metcalf and Evans thrived with risking taking QBs that went vertical. Not sure a WR to fill that role is a big hole on a Bryce Young lead offense.
-
attempting to build a stereotypical offense for their non-stereotypical QB? I mean, I’m ready to move on from Bryce so I don’t really care. But yeah, I’ve been clear since we drafted him the the only way I think Young can work is to to build him a Bryce dink and dunk O with their scheme and talent. Big picture, we are going to likely have better interior OL play and slightly better playcalling. I mean, this is a Mike Williams thread. What type of O did Canales run in Tampa? The only addition skill talent wise to date is problem wideout the Steelers tried to deal for a year and couldn’t that plays on the outside. Big picture I don’t dislike what they are doing to fix the O…but it’s still IMO a variation of last year where it’s not going to be catering to an anomaly QB. I think we drafted an anomaly QB….and still have not come to terms with that. and the talk/mood just feels like last year on repeat for me. I was never it’s an all Bryce Young sucks guy either. I didn’t like what they were putting him into from the jump when so many were talking playoffs and best roster since 2003 type stuff. I still don’t like what they are putting him in….at least to date. I don’t think we are going to put him in position again this year to help him reach his potential.

I know people are feeling the Luke comparison. But Payton got too much damage already on that body coming in for me.

Expectation: Trading the 33rd for a future first to a really bad team Likely the Panthers: Trades for 5 3rd rounders to KC

Well, if I look at the results of picks traded away in the Tepper era.....I would say no pick should ever be traded away no matter the deal. It's all long a list of being on the losing end. just take the BPA at all the spots. We got room for whoever it is.

I mean, if you lock Adam Thielen in the slot for a small ball QB/O.....it's going to cap it. I mean, you can force feed him all day in the slot. Teams also often gave him stuff too as a by-product of managing downs. His yards per catch wasn't just low.....he had the lowest yards per catch of any WR in the top 100 players in yards. I mean, you don't have to remove Thielen....but he shouldn't be dominating the slot every down. That shouldn't be your plan for that area of the field. We either got to commit to a small ball O or move on from Bryce. We had tons of bad marriages last year. Bryce needs a Bryce O and skill talent that caters to that. It's like Mike Williams. I love Mike Williams. He would be my favorite Panther if we signed him. But I don't want us to. He doesn't fit IMO. That's sort of Theilen for me. It's just not a good match given what you need out of your skill players for Bryce.

What player would you like to see play to their 'potential'?
CRA replied to CanadianCat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think Mingo. If Mingo were to explode it would essentially have the biggest impact......pending everyone else was basically what they were last year. Icky my #2. -
where is that one crazy poster that used to do the number thing when you need him.
