So, Is Bryce Playing this Week or Nah?
CRA replied to Move the Panthers to Raleigh's topic in Carolina Panthers
Tom Brady was on the injury report basically every game of his career. I also think there is some wiggle room. I think the Panthers have a very broad "high ankle sprain" definition. With both of Bryce's high ankle sprains he has been up on his foot 24/7 from the moment it was announced. High ankle sprains used to take players off their feet and you would be out weeks. With Bryce, it's hard to tell there is anything there. -
the deep ball is going away overall because teams are going out of their way to take it away from opponents via their coverage and S play. Big armed QBs and freak WRs you couldn't touch could flip games too easy and everyone went to conservative 2 high looks playing the deep ball trying to erase it. Every D isn't doing that to every QB. that's not what is happening with the Panther deep ball. We know S play vs the Panthers cheats down to play intermediate not respecting or trying to take away the deep stuff.

we are riding the Rico Dowdle train. Rico is the rising tide.

I do think this super tiny window.......is really carrying way too much power vs the bigger picture. Seeing it on lots of topics. Things could really swing hard the other direction in a few weeks. huddle collective will take really hard swings in different directions after just a very small sample of good or bad. Evero is the worst DC in the NFL written in stone to well......maybe.... Canales is a bad playcaller......well, Luke said something nice after a Rico Dowdle goes wild game. -

but I do think there is sort of a well placed plan in place and I think last season when they benched Bryce so quickly (and a move that was essentially moving on from him very quickly)........showed that. Everything they have done but allowing the Bryce Young comeback mucking it up does seems to fit a plan. Bryce Young remains the weird puzzle piece given the Canales O. -
yeah, we really aren't in a window to be aggressive. This still looks like about a 6-ish win team. All they did was win in the window they always were going to have to in order to get to that 6ish and it took some really flukey stuff even thing (Penix gift game, Rico going Bo Jackson, etc). to me aggressive teams should be teams where making some noise/catching some magic this postseason is realistic. This team doesn't look like they have that ability.

Olsen's been very Carolina positive through the entire Tepper pooshow era. He isn't a straight shooter. Not saying he should be. G-reg got football plans and I think he wants lots of doors to remain open.- 50 replies

Bryce Young's bad throw % has been basically off the charts horrible since arriving in the NFL for a starting QB. 2023 - only 1 QB was worse 2024 - just a slight handful were worse 2025 - that 2 week stretch where Rico went wild has temporarily lifted him out of his standard placement which he was in going into those 2 games. Which was one of the worst in the NFL.

Last NBA draft was brought to you by the WWF. 100% rigged.

never forget, this is "entertainment" not sport.

Oh, I think that is selective. I mean, everyone can't do it. Just like with everything else. Only select folks are allowed to be bad. They will try to weed out the random people trying to get in on things, it can't be a big thing everyone can get in on. I mean, isn't it pretty well acknowledged the mob back in they day influenced outcomes of sports?

folks have been gambling and "influencing" games since before we were all born.

got to keep the Bills O off the field and let Rico get us in the endzone. The only thing the Bills actually do okay on D is apply pressure in the pass game. So you can't let them get up (or it could end up lopsided)

Jags got handicapped because every coach was going to be forced and tied to Trevor (who is average and plays the game a very specific way). So while you can do worse than Trevor, every coach that was going to come in would be forced into his flavor of average. NFL success is largely about fit. Players, scheme, and coaches all fitting together. It's why bad to average players can suddenly look good in the right home/team. You never want to handicap your team w/ a huge contract and force everyone's hand....for an average player. *and Bryce isn't in Trevor tier of QB. He is in one ahead of Bryce.

Bryce isn't actually showing progress. Saying that is this season's' version of best deep passer in the league. It's just gaslighting. Bryce Young has been below average in every game this season but 2 games....same 2 games where Rico Dowdle channeled Bo Jackson and rewrote Panthers history.

Bryce Young - High Ankle Sprain, out minimum 1 week
CRA replied to UNCrules2187's topic in Carolina Panthers
I tell you what, it's hard to square Bryce's injuries (2nd time) with the eyeball tests of him up on his feet working out. Cam Newton wanted to play w/ a broke back and only let them sit him a week. -
I guess a better framed question which I tried to do.....is what does a bust look like on paper 2.5 years into a career that a team is still trotting out there and hasn't accepted they swung and missed.
-
what does a bust look like? I mean, let's say someone is a bust.....how would that person look on paper? Say 2.5 years into a career?

7 games this season. Bryce Young looked pretty good in the 2 games so far when there was historic rushing on the back of Rico Dowdle. That's his summary thus far this season. And it's year 3. Bryce Young hasn't really shown any growth nor much improvement. He pretty much is the same dude and threat every Sunday. It's also why every season starts off the exact same.

I don't think Canales developed Baker, or Geno or Russell. It's sort of a weird cherry pick, of what role we give credit for "fixing" QBs. It's an OC here, QB coach here. Baker, Geno, and Wilson all had success in schemes that suited them. Fit matters in the NFL more than almost anything. So does have the talent to run the desired scheme. All 3 of those guys are basically the same QB in terms of the pass game and have success in offenses that attack downfield (with the proper WRs).
