  1. I got no issue with this in theory... but I think Burns played himself out of that wish coming true. You not only have to give up a first for him....but then have to pay him on top of that. I think too many teams would rather just spend that 1st rounder on a DE themselves for the cheap contract and hopes of getting a more well rounded edge player.

in addition, if you are playing the odds....got to think if we go the Ejiro path in 2024 that it has high odds of being the end of the line for one reason or another. So what the point of a rebuilding team in 2024 going down the path where they start over on D in 2025. new HC should bring in his own guys. Everyone on staff needs to see the door from last year. Let the new HC who is known for having a good individual culture to him focus on bringing in guys he wants and not "influenced" by the owner and just taking leftovers from a year we all would like to forget.

I'm still in the camp of wanting the entire staff gone from last season. I want a 100% rebuild. We don't get it because of what the last brain trust did with our picks but that is out of our control. What is in our control....is letting the new HC bring in a 100% new staff.
  4. CMC isn't similar. CMC would have been a resource to aid and help develop a MASSIVE investment in Bryce Young. That's why trading him was wrong for so little in the end. Thomas Davis didn't start his career in Carolina injured every other game.
  5. is that a better outcome than paying him....and him remaining exactly what he has been here for his entire career?
  6. I'd deal him for a 2nd. We are rebuilding franchise that can't pay him. But outside of that, I'd just keep him and then let him walk pending he wouldn't sign some crazy incentive deal.
  7. 3 years into their careers Jaycee Horn - 22 games Jeff Otah - 29 games Thomas Davis - 46 games (shorter seasons)
  8. First question you got to ask is.....should the Panthers extend him to a fat healthy contract given his injury history? If the answer is no or BUT only if he plays for a cheap deal....then a rebuilding team should flat out trade people that aren't part of the future IMO pending a good deal could get made.
  9. I think more signs point to Caldwell being a Tepper voice than not. So, I lean that way. Either way, it comes down to why take the risk of keeping him around given that if you are fan? Caldwell was tasked to help oversee a complete dogwater O. One that failed all season to make adjustments to function. In fact all it did was get worse and worse. Same for Bryce. And at the end of the Game of Thrones.....Caldwell ended up in the best standing with David Tepper. Not sure how him loving football outweighs all the signs that point to him likely being a Tepper ear guy.
  10. “More than a few”…. I mean, Campen wasn’t fired because of that….Tepper clearly encouraged and sought it. Which is why he had more than Campen doing it. It would be naive to think the many are now gone. I still think Jim Caldwell is one. How else do you go from advising the worst O in the NFL….to helping hire the next era. He is Tepper guy.
  11. Jim Caldwelll needs to go. And quick. Not sure why so many don’t seem to care he is still hanging around. What was his job last year??? And on top of that, who is still in Tepper’s good graces after the Game of Thrones reporting on Frank? Caldwell certainly seemed to of skyrocketed in standing in Tepper’s eye. I don’t view that as good at all.
  12. If he doesn’t improve we just need to let him be our Jimmy Clausen and give the new HC a freebie season. Last thing we need is some long time not good enough vet getting us to 6 pointless wins. We need talent. I’d be cool spending our 3rd on a QB that falls….pending he never sees the field. Because that’s just going to likely ruin his odds too.
  13. Now I just need confirmation that Jim Caldwell is no longer on the payroll and I’ll be fine with it all
  14. I’m not implying Ejiro isn’t a good coach. He is good. I just don’t think a new HC that is also tasked with installing a good culture in a franchise that has none…..should be assigned a staff, that largely was the staff assigned to the last fired HC.
  15. if basically the only change is Frank/Brown and keeping everything as is or promoting from what was there…..that’s too much of the old for my liking. We have a lot to issues to fix. Lack to culture is one. I’m a firm believer we need new people/faces. Preferably ones the new HC wants and isn’t assigned. I don’t think any new HC should be assigned most of his key staff.
  16. It’s the NFL. No one gets 3 years while being bad just because…. This is make it or break it for Bryce. He has to get better to stay on the field after this season. If this year looks like last year….he isn’t going to be a starter in his 3rd season.
  17. batted balls is a weird thing. Cam has them because he would throw ropes/lasers and it didn’t matter if it was a short route. He would throw a fastball 5 yards downfield. That makes it easy to block if you guess right as a defender given their height Bryce can’t see a lot of throws. Bryce also didn’t sit in the same area of the pocket as consistently as a Cam type QB. Bryce’s size and arm just flat out took things off the table whether it be throws, open players, attempts or ability to call things.
  18. Yes and no. But I would say generally the fixes at this level aren’t dealing with some key issues Bryce has outside of his footwork Bryce’s size and arm can’t be fixed. Which means he has to be able to play QB at an insane level to overcome such and ever be worth the pick or sticking with long term.
  19. I can’t think of a single WR that should be back outside of Mingo. And that’s just because we just drafted him.
  20. Fine hire from a O perspective. But we have to wait and see if Tepper is going to screw him and repeat his patterns. if Ejiro, Tabor, Caldwell, all remain…..Tepper hasn’t learned anything. Guy is pretty green so I could see Tepper wanting to build out his staff for him.
  21. He only become a legit 2nd tier QB….on Vrabel’s team though. Vrabel opened with 5 straight winning seasons. I wouldn’t call that a one Cinderella run. His teams were tough and Vrabel is a smart in some coach. a hard nose, tough, culture guy who is also smart….seems exactly like what we need to climb out of the gutter. But I don’t see it happening. What Vrabel is….isn’t going to fly with Tepper
  22. I’ve already given my worst case scenario. Tepper - Owner Morgan - GM Ejiro - HC Caldwell - overseeing Thomas Brown 2.0 Tabor - ST basically the survivors of Game of Thrones season 1. We need a 100% clean slate and brand new culture installed.
  23. I bet when you look into the Lions draft room....she isn't sitting smack dab in the middle of it.
  24. I think he is self reflective, I just don't think he is NFL smart. I think his self reflection to date has just caused him to do 180s and overcorrect. And even if he did stumble across someone good, not sure he could endure the growing pains to see the fruits of it. Who knows. Can only guess. Vrabel also is set to interview in Atlanta before us. Which is a better job. Sometimes these very public scheduled interviews aren't always about that job...and it can be about adding pressure elsewhere that someone else might get you.
  25. For all I know this is a token Sportsology interview. Proof is in the pudding and Tepper to date has shown no indication of being a net positive owner. He is still front and center and it certainly looks like he enjoys stacking all decisions in his favor. I would glad to be wrong. Vrabel IMO is the best hire out there.
