  1. Lions got a kid that took some time. Williams really coming together. but yeah, in today's NFL, WRs basically are hitting way earlier than the old days. By year 2, you generally know.
  2. Yeah, but see....those random throws don't make him not Teddy two gloves. Because Teddy two gloves had those random throws too that went against his norm. I think if Bryce turned into Teddy B the passer....we should be happy. Not mad. Because Bryce adds to that a better aspect with his slipperiness and legs.
  3. I never got Mingo. I at least see the path for XL
  4. yeah, sort of lost in this recent XL bash session.....some really great use of his body too by about midway into the season. Lot of Micheal Irvin type praise. people also forget these first seasons are long for a rookie. He is also banged up. Generally, they are used to having their feet up weeks ago.
  5. O MVP 1. Hubbard 2. The OL 3. AT D MVP 1. Jewell 2. Horn I really don't think there is a D MVP. I think Jewell just deserves some praise though for sort of standing out. ST MVP Abstain. *new award CPOY Bryce Young - he climbed out of the pits of hell that no one thought possible. Still not impressive QB play but he climb out of that was impressive.
  6. I know Megatron cooked Clemson bad one year.
  7. a true nightmare. Defending the triple option is already a gigantic pain the rear. Then randomly having Megatron just standing there able to go deep at anytime is just insane while you fixate on that run scheme.
  8. to an extent, he also suffers a bit of what Bryce suffers from. Bryce is 1000% judged off the fact he was #1 overall, we traded away draft picks, gave up DJ Moore and others look better than him. Some drastically. we made XL a 1st round pick. He realistically was a 2nd. And folks see other WRs that are actually in great situations like Ladd. Mingo. TMJ. Samuel. All recent 2nd round picks. Rookie XL has more production than all 3 of them combined. So, he probably is judged harsher than he should be
  9. well, the NFL is all about fit. Where you land matters. Everyone isn't going to grow and succeed the same regardless of which of the 32 draft them. When we drafted XL.....I this year wouldn't be great because he doesn't fit with Bryce. random guy can land at team X and fade away. Same kid could go to team Y and thrive. goes back to my whole vision thing. Under Tepper we have been a team of random parts and people put together. That's IMO why we have stunk so bad. If Bryce stays, then I think XL will have been a horrible pick. But that's not hindsight on my part. I always thought they would pair poorly. Bryce rebounding wasn't in my plans. I don't think Tepper and Dave thought it either.
  10. a portion of that puzzle is on the QB and playcaller. Not just the WR. I think that part is ignored. Bryce just isn't that type QB and he Dave just don't go that route. Dave tries to do what Bryce can do. XL can threaten it with the play calls and throws. It probably would be as consistent as the Ginn days if we did it a lot. As in not very consistent. I mean, that's what we drafted in XL. But that's not Bryce. So it's conflicting. When I lobbied for XL....I always was upfront I didn't think he worked with Bryce.
  11. to an extent, yeah sort of a Ginn variant. Every O Canales has ever been around has had those throws built in and relied on them to make the whole puzzle work. as I said, I wanted XL because we had Dave.....and I thought Bryce would be done this year. So I wanted a WR for Dave. If you told Bryce was going be the dude going into year 3 (which I didn't think was true)....I wouldn't of lobbied for XL but for a Ladd type. and I think I largely was right. Injury derailed the "plan". Dave and Tepper were done w/ Bryce 2 weeks in. The injury rewrote things for them. Now we are sort of in no plan territory. Where nothing really fits as far as plan/vision.
  12. I mean, I didn't miss those. But those still aren't the type routes/plays/ throws I was referencing. AT basically sneaks by folks sometimes as a product of his volume and film. That's not the vintage Seattle/Bucs vertical bomb.
  13. He isn't supposed to be. He is a raw rookie. I lobbied hard for XL. But at that same time, I conceded then Bryce Young doesn't really throw the type balls and routes that he is going to fit. I lobbied for XL because I largely thought Bryce would also be gone. XL basically needs the vintage Wilson balls or the ones Evans gets. Bryce doesn't throw those vertical balls where the WR just has to run up under it. Bryce likes the drags, slants and attacking toward the sideline. I mean, they had one dialed up Sunday. XL had them beat vertically. Bryce just couldn't put the ball up for him. It was an underthrow and a nothing play. That's basically why we drafted him for THAT. And you can count those attempts on one hand and still have fingers. I wouldn't of lobbied for XL if I didn't believe BY would have soon be gone. I would have just lobbied to replace AT with Ladd. Slowly this year. All together next year.
  14. Ladd would not be Ladd lined up on the outside all game. He is effective because he is played to his strength. Ladd and AT would be competing for the same rep. XL had the potential to give us the biggest ceiling..... because you can let AT be AT and leave him alone.
  15. I mean, I conceded earlier this year he is the dude next year. I'll root for him to keep improving. But some of the hot takes on him just go too far not to come out against them. I'm not lobbying for a new QB. I want a new D. Well, I might be open to replacing Dalton with a slightly younger version.
  16. largely this. I mean, AT is sort of eating up a lot of the type balls and area TEs eat at. Sort of like having a Debo Samuel move into a backfield and start catching a lot of balls and wondering why the RBs are light. AT is sort of the Kelce variant in our O in reality. He just happens to be a WR.
  17. yeah, he got nothing to do with Bryce Young at this point. Allen morphed into Allen year 2. That was the jump. Maybe there was a convo last year of them both just not looking NFL caliber in year 1.
  18. I responded to someone bringing him up. I dismissed it. I don't have vitriol. This is just my least favorite part of any season. Generally it is early. Time is just off. It's the Robbie Anderson is why better than DJ Moore part of the season. Where we take something and just run off the freaking cliff with it. Folks essentially are forced into "knocking" Bryce Young because people just getting silly with it IMO. Bryce has made improvement most of didn't see coming. Bryce still isn't a very good QB.
  19. No. But what does Josh Allen have to do with Bryce Young at this point?? It just randomly throwing a name into the conversation. Josh Allen made the big leap in year 2 and was turning into the one man show playmaker that season. He had a 72 year old Frank Gore at RB, John Brown and Cole Beasley as his top 2 WRs. No one believed in him either going into that year. He wasn't setup for success. Ignoring defenses.....the two got nothing in common at that point in their careers. Allen belongs in a Cam Newton convo, not a Bryce Young convo.
  20. it's all relative, not us in a vacuum. Look at New England. You want to trade AT for Demario Douglas. They ain't living better over there.
  21. https://theramswire.usatoday.com/2024/01/29/rams-panthers-ejiro-evero-contract-defensive-coordinator/ this article references his deal of having 1 year left when the talk was about him being blocked from leaving last year.
  22. Averaging 59% completion, 180 yards Claiming that’s top 5 anything the last 2 weeks just ain’t going sell outside of a segment of the huddle
  23. I still think the XL stuff is getting silly. Some guy broke down this week for example. XL basically had 1 ball where he timed his jump wrong trying to go over the top of someone and should have had that one…..but thats it on Sunday. That’s the only actual “bad” play by XL. The others were a pretty obvious PI that the announcers oddly just talked through and ignored, a Bryce over throw and a Bryce under throw. Leggtte caught the other 5. Not a bad game at all from the rookie in reality.
